Belfast Giants moved top of the Elite League thanks to a 7-6 overtime victory against Dundee Stars in Scotland.

Colin Shields scored the overtime winner to complete his hat-trick with Craig Peacock bagging a double for the Giants in a thrilling encounter.

Adam Keefe and Kris Beech were also on target for the visitors, who led 6-5 until Doug Clarkson equalised with just a minute remaining.

The win takes the Giants one point clear at the summit.

Peacock put the Giants 2-1 ahead after Lou Dickenson cancelled out Keefe's opener.

Justin Faryna levelled and also made it 3-3 after Beech had restored Belfast's lead four minutes into the second period.

Shields edged the Giants in front only for Dundee to draw level again through Dickenson.

Curtis Leinweber added a fifth for Dundee but Belfast hit back with goals from Shields and Peacock.

Clarkson extended the game before Shields clinched the points and ensured a weekend double for the Giants after Saturday night's shoot-out win over Braehead Clan in the Challenge Cup.
