There were mixed fortunes for the Belfast Giants at the weekend.
On Saturday night at the SSE Arena goals from Chris Higgins, Jonathan Boxill and James Demarais were enough to give the Giants a 3-2 win over Braehead Clan.
However they failed to close the gap to Elite League leaders, Cardiff Devils, when they were beaten 5-2 in the Welsh capital on Sunday evening.
Cardiff scored three times in the opening eight minutes of the second period after goals from David Brine, Sean Bentivoglio and and Joey Martin.
Belfast hit back through Alex Foster and Jim Vandermeer but the Devils secured the points with strikes from Guillaume Doucet and Jake Morrisette in the final twenty minutes.
The Giants finished the weekend in fifth place in the Elite League standings, eight points behind Cardiff albeit with two games in hand.
