Lawro's predictions

Derby County v Manchester United (19:55 GMT)

Mark Lawrenson

Ex-Liverpool defender

Derby have hit a bit of a rocky patch in the Championship with no wins in their past five league games but I still do not think this will be easy for Manchester United.

A lot will depend on the team that Louis van Gaal puts out but I just do not see United going there and rolling the Rams over.

Derby are a good side by Championship standards - they will be very competitive, they will play at a high tempo and they will cause United some problems.

Lawro's prediction: 1-1 (United to win the replay)

Match facts

Derby County v Manchester United (19:55 GMT)

  • They knocked United's predecessors Newton Heath out of the competition in 1896 and 1897
  • Derby have only won three of the last 19 meetings in all competitions (D5, L11)

Team news

Derby County v Manchester United (19:55 GMT)

Derby head coach Paul Clement has no fresh injury concerns, with long-term absentees Max Lowe, Craig Forsyth and Will Hughes still unavailable.

Midfielder Michael Carrick could return for Manchester United after four games out with a knee injury. However, defender Matteo Darmian is ruled out having been hospitalised with a rib injury last weekend, while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Phil Jones remain sidelined.

Commentator's notes

Derby County v Manchester United (19:55 GMT)

Steve Wilson

BBC Match of the Day commentator

The FA Cup could be a welcome distraction for both sides as the prospect of 'concentrating on the league' is not appealing just now.

While Louis van Gaal is being castigated for a run of two Premier League victories in the last 10 games and trying to keep a lid on a simmering Old Trafford revolt, life has not been much easier for Paul Clement.

Derby were top of the Championship on Boxing Day, but two points from five games since then has left them fifth.

There's one very big difference though: Clement knows he can afford to lose this game - Van Gaal will not be so sure.

Faltering form

Derby County v Manchester United (19:55 GMT)

We turn our attention to tonight's FA Cup fourth-round tie as Manchester United visit Championship side Derby.

A match that could have some significance for manager Louis van Gaal, who admitted defeat could get him sacked.

Khazri has an eye for goal

Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Wahbi Khazri after Bordeaux claimed they have agreed a fee for the 24-year-old.

And looking at his stats, it seems a wise investment.

Opta report that the Tunisia midfielder was involved in 26 goals for Bordeaux since 2014/15, with 14 goals and 12 assists, more than any other Bordeaux player.

Bravo joins Surrey for T20

West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will play for Surrey in this summer's T20 Blast competition.

The 32-year-old will join the county in June, and play alongside Sri Lanka batting star Kumar Sangakkara.

"He’s played with great success wherever he’s been so to secure his services is a great coup for us," said director of cricket Alex Stewart.

Vidic retires from football

Nemanja Vidic built  a formidable centre-half partnership with Rio Ferdinand at Manchester United, and the ex-England player has been paying tribute to his Serbian team-mate.

Ferdinand revealed that Vidic was not an instant success with his teammates when he joined in January 2006 but soon turned opinions around in the dressing room.

Ferdinand said:  "He became a defender that was feared, he could fight with the most physical, he crunched into tackles, he attacked the ball better than anyone I've ever seen. But as he will tell you with a smile, he could also play with the ball too, which made him complete and a great defender."

Melwood busy again ahead of Jurgen Klopp's media briefing.

The manager fielded an extremely young side in the last round against Exeter but it seems unlikely he would so the same West Ham. That said, with Premier League games against Leicester and Sunderland to come, he may have to freshen up the side who beat Stoke in the League Cup semi-finals.
