We are the most tested athletes on the planet - Weir

Disability Sport

David Weir was speaking after he was selected for a fifth Paralympic Games in a first phase of 13 track and field athletes named on the British team.

He was asked about the International Paralympic Committee’s announcement that Russian track and field athletes will be allowed to take part in the Rio Paralympics.

"You just have to have faith in the IPC. If they feel it is like that, then you have to have faith in the athletes as well. I know I am a clean athlete and I know 100% that the British team are clean.

"We are the most tested athletes on the planet. I just have to worry about my side and the IPC can worry about the Russians. If they have said that and there is no evidence of them cheating then you have to take their word for that."

Pleased to be on the more favourable side of the draw - O'Neill

Michael O'Neill

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill reacted to the news his side face Wales for a place in the Euro 2016 quarter-finals.

“It is going to be a fantastic game," he said. “We will be heading back to the Parc des Princes which as we know from Tuesday night is a brilliant stadium. We will benefit from the familiarity of having been there already, of having done the journey and of having played on the pitch. “The results put us in what is arguably the more favourable side of the draw, so we are pleased about that. “We are in no doubt that it is going to be a tough game against Wales but we will go into the match believing that we can win and that we can progress.”
