Watch highlights of New Zealand's shock win

Highlights: NZ embarrass hosts India

But that's it from us for today. The Super 10 stage of the World 10 has started with a bang. The hosts and favourites have been humbled.

Join us tomorrow for the start of England's campaign.

Coming up

That's the late game tomorrow (14:00 GMT), with Pakistan v Bangladesh getting us under way at 09:30. Pakistan women also play their West Indian counterparts.

So we've seen one embarrassing collapse already in the World T20, how many more might we see, especially if the pitches turn as that one in Nagpur?

On a completely unrelated note, England open up their campaign against West Indies tomorrow...

You know those highlights I mentioned? Here's one to wet your whistle, the moment that Adam Milne bowled Ashish Nehra to seal victory for New Zealand.

Ashish Nehra's bowled by Adam Milne.

Darren Hawkins: After claiming they're gonna dominate the WT20, seeing India do their best England batting impression was priceless.

"MS Dhoni gave it the best he could today, but there was no-one really to work with him. One or two more partnerships and maybe India could have got over the line."

More from India captain MS Dhoni: "They definitely exploited the conditions and bowled well but we lacked adaptability."

On the blow he took to his thumb: "Ah, I think it will be fine."

'The batting let us down'

India captain MS Dhoni: "It was a low-scoring wicket definitely but I thought we'd restricted them to a good total.

"It was the batting that let us down. There were quite a few soft dismissals. Maybe with the shot selections we kept putting pressure on and there was no partnership in the middle, we were quite down when it came to the run rate."

More from Kane Williamson: "It was tough to leave out Boult and Southee, but we have to adapt to the conditions. The spinners paid off today, which was very pleasing."

Williamson praises 'outstanding' bowlers

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson: "I'm obviously very pleased. It was a tough surface. Whatever score we got we knew it would be tough to chase, but we still would have liked a few more. The way we bowled was outstanding.

"Perhaps we'll reflect on how aggressive we were and do that better next time."

Hats off to the NZ selectors. Dropping Boult and Southee looked bold, but they'd read the conditions expertly. And winning the toss helped.

Don't forget you can watch India's capitulation right now at the top of this page. We'll have in-play highlights of every match during this World T20.

'Our spinners got us the win'

New Zealand pace bowler Adam Milne: "There was a lot of spin out there and we thought maybe 120 was a bit below par but fair play to our spinners, they stuck at it and got us the win.

"We knew this would be tough, and starting those partnership was hard, but we knew we had to relax if there were a few dot balls, and in the end 126 proved enough."

Alice Stainer: Amazing guile, nerve & gumption from #NZundefined in that match! How many folk besides themselves would have given them a chance? #WT20

Francis Edwards: That's massive. Although both major nations that is an absolutely massive shock! It wasn't a close game in the end...

Ebony Rainford-Brent

"Corey Anderson's innings was really gutsy. New Zealand were two down when he came in and had they lost another in the powerplay it could have led to a rollover, but he saw them through. India didn't have that person who set those foundations."

Irfan Raja: India being demolished by a weak NZ team today. I think the rest of the teams in the group will be relishing their chances against them.

India can take a tiny crumb of comfort from the fact that not one of the previous five World T20 champions have gone through the tournament unbeaten. Trouble is, one more defeat could well put them out, and matches against Australia, Pakistan and Bangladesh will all be tough.

And the votes are in...

Earlier on today we asked you: Who will win the World Twenty20?

India came out on top with 32%, England are second with 26% and Australia third with 14%. New Zealand picked up 5%...

Anyone feel like changing their mind?

The astro turf pitch with cigarette burns on a length at my old school was a better than that wicket #WT20

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"India 100% knew what was coming. They saw how the wicket was turning themselves. Maybe  they came into this feeling they were on auto-pilot - that it's all been clicking for them. Maybe they just got into the flow of looking down the line-up and assuming someone is going to produce. Nobody stood up today."

In the end, it wasn't even close. A 47-run defeat in a Twenty20 is an absolutely shellacking. 79 is India's second-lowest total in T20 cricket. The nine wickets by New Zealand's spinner's equals the T20 record.

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"You could not have predicted this. India came out with the ball on fire, but with the bat they have completely given this away. Well done to New Zealand, it's been a brilliant fightback, and their spinners really did the job."

New Zealand win 47 runs

Nehra b Milne 0 (Ind 79 all out)

Ashish Nehra's bowled by Adam Milne.

Bowled him! Adam Milne splatters Ashish Nehra's stumps and India wrap-up a 47-run win. India, the hosts and favourites, have been humbled in the opening match of this tournament. Let the post-mortem begin.

Ind 79-9

Jasprit Bumrah joins Ashish Nehra. India are set to join England as the only hosts to lose their first match in a World T20...

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"What a catch! That ball was dying on him. It just shows you how fired up this New Zealand team have been today. The crowd are starting to file out now..."

Dhoni c McCullum b Santner 30 (Ind 79-9)

MS Dhoni caught by brilliant Nathan McCullum dive.

What a catch! A brilliant, tumbling take by Nathan McCullum at long-on removes MS Dhoni and ends this match as a contest. Dhoni looked to hit Mitchell Santner downtown, but McCullum came off the fence to dive forward and cling on. The fans are leaving the ground. Tell the Fat Lady we'll need her soon.

Ind 79-8

Pull for four by Dhoni, the first boundary conceded by Santner. The skipper still believes.

Amos Kemp: Just seen a poster "Invented by England, Mastered by India" Are they referring to The Batting Collapse?

Ind 75-8 (Sodhi 4-0-18-3)

Ashish Nehra is the new man - he's a place too high at number 10. The crowd know it too, cheering when he manages to keep his first ball out. Dhoni is even refusing the single that would see him lose the strike for the next over. India need 52 from three. No chance.

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"Ashwin was doing such a good job keeping Dhoni alive while picking up a few singles. He just got done by the spin there. He was tempted into playing and found himself falling over. Very difficult for India now. Dhoni is the only man with any sort of hope."

Ashwin st Ronchi b Sodhi 10 (In 73-8)

Ravi Ashwin stumped from Ish Sodhi's bowling.

Gone! Beautiful from Ish Sodhi, a perfect leg-break completely befuddling Ravi Ashwin, who walks past it to be smartly stumped by Luke Ronchi. New Zealand are properly into the tail now. MS Dhoni is standing on deck as his ship goes down.

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"If you are going to go down, go down fighting. MS Dhoni got right to the pitch of the ball and hit it gun-barrel straight. Straight has been the key."

Ind 72-7

MS Dhoni hits a big six.

Fetch it! Here comes Dhoni, six down the ground off Sodhi.

Phillip Huntsman: Without wanting to ruin this... MS Dhoni is still there. If this game has taught us anything it's don't write people off.

Ind 66-7 (need 61 from 24 balls)

Some fans in Nagpur can't even watch, with Corey Anderson back on to prolong India's boundary hunt. Still it won't come, still Dhoni has to settle for singles, still the rate continues to climb. It's like someone has turned the volume down in Nagpur. There are four overs to go, three of which no doubt to be bowled by the spinners.

Don't remember the last time at home even singles were so loudly cheered by #Ind fans! Match still on #IndvsNZ @BBCHindi #bbccricket

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

Mahendra Singh Dhoni bats

"Even on a good pitch, on a good day, 66 runs to win from 30 balls would see the advantage with the bowling side. And on this pitch, despite MS Dhoni being the crease... it's going to be very tough for India. New Zealand won't want to settle in though, I think they'll really want to make a statement."

Ind 61-7 (Dhoni 16 from 20)

Now Dhoni looks for the big one, but a mishit off Sodhi only brings a couple. The skipper is right to think the burners are needed soon - that rate could get unmanageable. However, the boundary still hasn't come and there are only three wickets left in the bank. India need 66 from five. A huge ask.

Ebony Rainford-Brent

Ex-England batter on BBC Test Match Special

"Virat Kohli batted well but other than that some of the shots India have played have been lacklustre. It's almost as if they expected this to happen."

Ind 57-7 (target 127)

Mitchell Santner is all over the place here, sprinting to field off his own bowling. Mixing the pace, turning the ball, keeping a mesmeric hold over these Indian batsmen. What do Dhoni and Ashwin do? At the moment, it looks like the plan is to hang in there until a blast at the end. Problem is, the required rate will be 12 before much longer.
