Durham digging in

Sussex 668 v Durham 287 & 194-7 - lunch, day four

Martin Emmerson

BBC Newcastle at Hove

Durham are still existing at Hove, despite the loss of three quick wickets this morning. Paul Collingwood was the first to go in the second over of the day when he was given out lbw to David Wiese for 31. It took the umpire a while to give it out.

Durham continued to struggle with young Jofra Archer bowling with some real speed and menace.

He decided to pepper Paul Coughlin with plenty of short stuff and at one point struck him on the grill. A few minutes later, after another exchange of the short stuff, Archer walked right up to the batsman and said something to him, before being called away by the umpire. Coughlin played the next ball onto his stumps when on 15 and Stuart Poynter was caught behind off Archer on none.

The ECB could well take action about what was said.

However James Weighell his his first half century, despite playing an Archer yorker painfully onto his foot. He has 58. Ryan Pringle has also faced 181 balls for a patient 30.
