A goal will come for Harry Kane. All strikers have spells like this and only time can do it. I trust in him.

'Harry needs to work hard'

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Man of the match was Tim Howard, we created a lot of chances but you need to score. It was impossible today but I am happy with the performance. I am happy with Harry Kane, he had two or three clear chances but I am happy. He needs to work hard and play.

Mauricio PochettinoTottenham boss on Sky Sports

'He is very mature'

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

No price can buy him, not now. John is a big part of our plans. He has become a very mature man over the last few weeks. He has never let the team down and today was a real celebration internally. The fans know we have someone very special.

We have to score and it was impossible for us today. I am happy with our performance. We are a strong team, who showed character.

'Future England captain'

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

John Stones was an immense influence on what we did defensively. The reading of the game, he looks like a player who has grown in the last few weeks under the pressure and speculation. Every single Evertonian will show that respect to him for the way he has handled the situation. You can see the signs of a future England captain. As a football club we are very clear on our future and our vision, we are building a team and a project. We hope we can bring one more in.

Tom Cleverley update

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Hopefully it is not too serious. The doctor is a little bit more positive. We think it is ligament damage but we hope it is a relatively minor injury.

FT: Tottenham 0-0 Everton

You have to adapt during the season and today was about never giving in. At spells we didn't look sharp today, probably after playing extra-time in midweek. Tim Howard was at an exceptional level of form.

Callum Heary:  Very poor performance from Tottenham today should have been coasting to victory in the first half with the amount of chances.

Rachel T:  The days of Bale, Modric and Van der Vaart seem a VERY long time ago

David Gullever:  I think we can write off Spurs season here and now – a team that can’t score goals.

'Stones is a good kid'

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

The sky is the limit for John Stones. He's got the full package. He's strong, good on the ball and he's a good kid. In the dressing room we love him. We support him 100% and he's been smiling all week.

Bradley Allen

Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"Tottenham had enough chances to win the game but just weren't able to find the goal.

"It was a pulsating match and once the Spurs players do return from the international break they can pick themselves up and go again in a difficult away encounter at Sunderland.

"Clinton Njie and Christian Eriksen will by that time be in competition for a place and we know that the transfer window is still open."

I am man of the match this week and last week I was the goat. That is football.

Not a great looking table for Tottenham fans. Bottom six and without a win this season.

"Some of the fans are right to be disappointed because that was the best Spurs have played so far this season.

"Everton were solid defensively, Tim Howard made some fine saves, and it just wasn't Spurs' evening."

FULL-TIME

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Kevin Mirallas' header is straight at goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and the full-time whistle goes.

Tottenham will be very frustrated.

Maybe not, free-kick to Everton 50 yards out...

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Dele Alli attempts to turn inside the penalty area. His touch is too heavy and that should be that.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Now, Tottenham have a free-kick deep inside their own half. It is punted long.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Everton break as Gerard Deulofeu does a few step overs on the right but his cross is wasted. Three minutes of injury time.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

It comes to nothing as Everton clear. Spurs are back in possession though...

David Whale: Can't understand why Lamela isn't playing. There is some real genius in his play,a bit unpolished but needs game time!

Shane Daly: Well I think my 4-1 Spurs win on the Predictor game was a bit premature. A win still gets me 10 points. C'mon Spurs.

Paul Charles: If Spurs don't take 3 pts we only have ourselves to blame. So many chances but simply not clinical.

Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"Young Alex Pritchard did so well on loan at Brentford last season. He's diminutive but he's got that little feint and change of direction that takes him away from more muscular opponents. Ryan Mason has had his chances today."

SUBSTITUTION

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

On comes Alex Pritchard for Tottenham in midfield for Ryan Mason. Lots of talk Pritchard could be off in this transfer window, maybe this is his chance.

"Ross Barkley just overcooked it with all the twists and turns. He should have just hit it earlier when he cut in onto his right."

Ross Barkley twists and turns inside Tottenham's penalty area. Brilliant skill until he shoots and it flies well wide.

The Toffees change their front man again as Arouna Kone is replaced by Gerard Deulofeu.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Harry Kane finally hammers the ball into the net but it is more out of frustration that conviction as the linesman's flag was raised for offside.

Seconds earlier, Everton thought they should have had a penalty after Steven Naismith went down after being tugged by Kyle Walker. It would have been harsh.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Corner to Everton. Is this their moment? No.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Bradley Allen

Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"I've just looked over at the Everton bench and my eyes focussed on one person - Duncan Ferguson. He's part of the coaching staff. I bet he'd been dreaming of a chance like that. In the end it just skimmed off the top of Arouna Kone's head.

"The tempo's just slowed fraction and I'm not surprised. Over the last 15 minutes it's been played at some pace."

CLOSE!

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

A rare Everton attack and that is so close. Bryan Oviedo whips in a delicious cross from the right, Arouna Kone meets the ball first, but his glanced header is inches wide of the far post.

Beware Tottenham, Everton can still be a threat...

SUBSTITUTION

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Romelu Lukaku does not look a happy man as he is replaced by Steven Naismith in attack.

Tottenham immediately on the attack as central defender Jan Vertonghen beats three Everton defenders before having a wicked shot tipped over by Tim Howard.

How long can Everton hang on?

PENALTY APPEAL

Everton are under the cosh. Dele Alli goes down in the penalty area  after another Tottenham attack but nothing doing.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Bradley Allen

Tottenham academy coach on BBC London 94.9

"How Tottenham are not in front is beyond me. Two chances in swift succession that Spurs fail to take because Harry Kane and Nacer Chadli both opted for placement.

"Everton are hanging on at the moment."

CLOSE!

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Still their shooting boots remain firmly off. Harry Kane has a shot blocked by Phil Jagielka, the rebound falls to Nacer Chadli who fires over with the goal at his mercy. Tottenham are being very wasteful.

Tottenham 0-0 Everton

Mauricio Pochettino is looking a worried man. His Spurs side are well on top but they need to be more clinical.

They have had 14 shots so far today but only on six on target.
