PENALTY

Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Joe Gomez fouls Ander Herrera in the area. Penalty.

Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool are close to a leveller at Old Trafford when Martin Skrtel's header is stopped on the line, then Daley Blind clears Roberto Firmino's close-range effort.

United respond by sending on the new boy - Anthony Martial. You can follow the conclusion to that match with Tom Rostance here.

Many of you will know this already, but it's worth repeating - Cristiano Ronaldo became Real Madrid's record scorer in La Liga today, after hitting five goals in a demolition of Espanyol. That's how to end a 'goal drought'!

"Stones should play for England regularly"

Everton 3-1 Chelsea

Robbie Savage

606, BBC Radio 5 live

"John Stones has all the attributes - pace, power and is a ball-playing central defender. He should play for England regularly. He is so good on the ball - did you see his Cruyff turn?

"You've got to play him for his country, you really do."

Everton 3-1 Chelsea

John Stones was pretty immense for Everton today, too - showing why Chelsea wanted to splash the cash on him. Robbie Savage was certainly impressed...

Watford 1-0 Swansea

Watford fans will be celebrating tonight - they secured their first Premier League win at Vicarage Road since April 2007 (4-2 v Portsmouth).

Yes, kids... Pompey of League Two were a Premier League team not so long ago. And a decent one too.

Arsenal 2-0 Stoke

Robbie Savage

606, BBC Radio 5 live

"Stoke have had some tough games and have played OK. They just need that first victory of the season - I'm still sure Mark Hughes' side will finish mid-table."

Stoke went bottom of the Premier League table today which, I must admit, caught me a little by surprise...

#LFC defensively woeful at that free-kick. Defenders drawn away from the danger area like schoolboys

'Mourinho is not unsackable'

Everton 3-1 Chelsea

Robbie Savage

606, BBC Radio 5 live

"Chelsea, as a unit, are all over the place. Costa does not seem a threat and Fabregas has lost a yard. Defensively they are all over the place. 12 goals conceded? Lasts season it took until December before they had conceded a dozen goals.

"Jose is not unsackable. It's incredible, though. Three months ago he was lifting the Premier League trophy, and how we're discussing him losing his job!"

Problems for Brendan Rodgers. And Jose Mourinho.

Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Steve Wilson

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"No-one picked up Daley Blind and he stroked it gleefully into the top corner of Simon Mignolet's net.

"Obviously it worked on the training ground and it certainly worked on the pitch as well. He had acres of space, a really good finish."

GOAL - Man Utd 1-0 Liverpool

Daley Blind (49 mins)

Liverpool are done like a kipper. Juan Mata plays a free-kick across to the edge of the box where an unmarked Daley Blind is waiting to curl the ball into the top corner. Straight off the training ground.

Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool

We're all hoping for an improvement at Old Trafford, where the second half is well under way. Just a reminder that Tom Rostance is across that game for us.

Is Walcott a true striker?

Arsenal 2-0 Stoke

Theo Walcott has now scored 11 goals in his last 11 starts in the Premier League - but does he have a future as an out and out striker?

The graphic below shows his goal (ball symbol), shots on target (green) and shots off target (red). It's interesting that three of the shots off target came in the first half. Those on target came in the second half. A bit rusty, perhaps?

Dwight, Dwight, Dwight...

Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City

Dwight Gayle (16) will not be the most popular man in the Crystal Palace dressing room tonight. He missed a chance to win the game in the last minute, then gave the ball away to Samir Nasri (8) in the lead-up to Manchester City's goal moments later.

Nick Hughes:  What an appalling game of football. Utter shambles from both sides. Liverpool need to change formation, United need a striker.

Richard:  Did I just watch a half between Manchester United and Liverpool with no shots on goal and no saves made?

Theo Bowyer:  Woeful is kind for the dross that United and Liverpool are serving up. I've seen more skill in a Sunday league match!

HALF-TIME - Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool

Are there any good films on?

Man Utd 0-0 Liverpool

All very tame this so far for Man Utd v Liverpool - not that I'm in any way advocating the need for a few crunching tackles of course.

Player reaction

Crystal Palace 0-1 Manchester City

Great win and a brilliant job by the team on a difficult turf. Congrats @67Kelechi for the goal!

Great result after a game worked and well defended. in a very difficult stadium. 1-0 against Crystal Palace. #together #city #BPL

Manager reaction

West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman : “I’m a little bit disappointed. We were the better team and had a lot of ball possession. The best chance we created perhaps went to Jay Rodriguez in the first half. We weren’t clinical enough in the second half. We gave away some half-chances. But if you can’t win a game, you don’t lose – and we’ve got one point and a clean sheet.

“We changed Jay for Sadio Mane to have a faster player to surprise them. He had one good chance, but he took too much time. We need to be more clinical. We took too much time on the cross and final pass. We have to improve but we know this.

“Virgil van Dijk was fantastic; he played so well today. He was good in possession. That’s how we want to play football."

Giannina Caraceni: Happy with Liverpool so far. For all their bother, United have done nothing yet. I'm liking how often we put them on the floor too.

Sanj: He's just a big lump ain't he? At least Fellaini puts his body about but Benteke's looked useless so far.

Romy's Dad: If Fellaini is the answer, I'm not sure what the question is...

'I'll be having a word with Callum'

West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Here's more from West Brom head coach Tony Pulis. First of all, he was asked about his side's penalty appeal: “I think Callum McManaman dives first before the player touches him. I’ll be having a word with him about that. It was a good decision by the referee."

And on Saido Berahino: “We’ve all made mistakes and looked back and thought we should have done something differently. Saido’s made a couple of mistakes, and given his time again, he wouldn’t make those mistakes, I hope. We move on."

Manager reaction

West Brom 0-0 Southampton

West Brom head coach Tony Pulis: “The way we passed the ball, I’m delighted with a point. You’ve got to give the players credit for the way they defended, but we have to do better in possession.

“You don’t want to make excuses. I thought Rickie Lambert would have a better game. Salomon Rondon has travelled 15,000 miles after playing two games. It will be nice to have them together next week."

Aguero plays down injury worries

In English, this is roughly translated as: "And thank you very much everyone for your concern. I received a blow that prevented me to play. In principle it is nothing serious."

Y muchas gracias a todos por su preocupación. Recibí un duro golpe que me impidió seguir jugando. En principio no es nada serio.

Tadic's frustrating afternoon

West Brom 0-0 Southampton

Southampton's Dusan Tadic delivered plenty of crosses into the box but they often could not find a target, shown in red. Key passes (leading to a shot) are shown in yellow.

Norwich 3-1 Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe, speaking to BBC Sport: "The biggest disappointment was the goals we gave away. At this level if you defend like we did for the three goals you have to be disappointed.

"I thought we were still well in the game at half-time, but in the second half we conceded possession really cheaply. That’s usually our strength so there’s a lot for us to reflect on

"Maybe there was a bit of a lack of confidence after going behind, but we ended up chasing the game and making some bad decisions. That cost us."

Manager reaction

Watford 1-0 Swansea

Swansea manager Garry Monk, speaking to BBC Sport: “We got what we deserved. We just didn’t perform. We couldn’t get into it when the sending off came. We are very disappointed.

“We had a lack of focus on the things we do well. Ultimately, disappointed but our job is to come back and put those things right.

“We have no excuses. We were quite sluggish. I have no complaints with the result."

Manager reaction

Watford 1-0 Swansea

Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores: “It was a really big experience to win a first match in the Premier League. It was a really tough match as Swansea is a good team.

“In the first half we played well and had control. It got complicated after the sending off.

“In the second half, when we had to defend a lot, I don’t like to play like this. I’m really pleased and would like to dedicate this win to the fans.”
