Some well-trained by the numbers answers there by Harry Kane.

On that insightful note, it is time to bring our Europa League coverage to an end. Thanks for your company, your comments and your sandwich-related puns (how did we get to that stage?).

See you next time.

Player reaction

Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht

Tottenham striker Harry Kane, speaking to BT Sport: "It was a game of two halves. We dominated in the first and in the second they came out and made it tough.

"Anderlecht are a great team but it was great from Mousa to pull the finish out of the bag and get us the three points.

"It's a very tight group, everyone is beating everyone else, and there is still a lot to do. Qarabag away will be tough and Monaco at home to finish. Hopefully we can win the next one and get the job done."

Manager reaction

Rubin Kazan 0-1 Liverpool

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, on match winner Jordon Ibe: "He is a very good lad, a very skilled player and a really big talent – he is fast, strong, good at dribbling.

“He has a lot to learn, but has a really good base. He feels good at the moment and we could see it tonight. Like everyone, he has to work hard – he is very young and has a long way to go. He has to learn and if he is prepared to listen, everything will be good.”

Athletic Bilbao were big winners at home to Partizan Belgrade, dispatching the Serbs 5-1 as Aritz Aduriz scored his 100th goal for the club.

Schalke missed out on the chance to secure a place in the knockout stage, held to a 1-1 draw in Sparta Prague.

And Albanian champions Skenderbeu secured their first ever victory in European competition proper, beating Sporting Lisbon no less, 3-0.

A good night for Premier League teams then as Tottenham and Liverpool both secure wins that put them in a strong position to reach the knockout stage.

Spurs travel to Qarabag in their next game, before hosting Monaco in their final group-stage fixture.

If they beat bottom side Qarabag on 26 November and Monaco defeat Anderlect, Mauricio Pochettino's side will qualify for the knockout stages with a game to spare.

Meanwhile, Liverpool - second in Group B - are next at home to Bordeaux knowing a win will see them progress.

Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht

Bradley Allen

Former QPR striker on BBC Radio London

"A real hard-fought win for Tottenham. Anderlecht started well and Spurs weathered that, Harry Kane scored a sensational goal and credit to Mauricio Pochettino's side - they came back after conceding the equaliser, too.

"Mousa Dembele's spectacular finish was a fitting goal to win a great game."

All over and Mousa Dembele's stunning strike seals victory. Tottenham go top of Group J with seven points, one point ahead of Monaco and three ahead of third-place Anderlecht.

Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht

Anderlecht coach Besnik Hasi is marching up and down his technical area, shouting at the ground in frustration. This was an opportunity lost for the visitors, who were the better side for much of the game.

Meanwhile, Harry Kane continues to run down the clock in the corner.

Neil Knighton: Dembele absolutely spanked that. No wonder Poch wants to give him a new contract, he's cracked how to score!

Mousa Dembele scores

"What a goal! And there's me saying that's Mousa Dembele's wrong foot. A half-volley with his right foot flies into the top corner. Pick that one out."

Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht

Three minutes of added time is shown on the fourth official's board. Three minutes for Tottenham to hold on for an important win. They are on course to go top of Group J as Harry Kane takes the ball into the corner.

GOAL - Tottenham 2-1 Anderlecht

Mousa Dembele

Out of nothing, Tottenham lead again! It is a fine goal by Mousa Dembele, who is in a rich run of goalscoring form at the moment.

Substitute Son Heung-min, moments after playing a superb cross-field ball, tees up Dembele on the edge of the area and he launches an unstoppable drive into the back of the net for his third goal in as many games.

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Harry Kane sees a shot blocked and Tottenham have a corner. Erik Lamela takes it, but Guillaume Gillet heads clear.

While we've been talking puns, I wonder what Tim Sherwood would have made of Gillet if he was still in the Spurs dugout tonight.

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Mousa Dembele shoots from distance, but it is low and weak and no bother for Silvio Proto in the Anderlecht goal.

SUBSTITUTION

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Anderlecht bring on more fresh legs as Ibrahima Conte comes on for Fabrice N'Sakala.

Seven minutes left, Tottenham could really do with a win with two tricky final games coming up, but they are the side doing all the defending at the moment.

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Imoh Ezekiel once again causes Tottenham problems, this time springing the offside trap as he chases a ball into the box. Fortunately for Spurs, Toby Alderweireld gets back in time to deflect the forward's shot behind.

Tottenham need to stick two players on Ezekiel, heck three players. If the visitors are to get another goal tonight, you can be sure he will play a big part in it.

Group J

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Bradley Allen

Former QPR striker on BBC Radio London

"Spurs had a 10-minute spell at the beginning of the second half when they were by far the better side. They didn't score though, and will they rue that now?

"They're going to have to work really hard to win this game from here. And that's not ideal before playing Arsenal on Sunday."

SUBSTITUTION

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Final change for Tottenham as 18-year-old midfielder Joshua Onomah comes on for Dele Alli.

Tottenham 1-1 Anderlecht

Anderlecht are on the front foot now as the lively Imoh Ezekiel gets inside the area before crossing across the face of goal and Jan Vertonghen hacks the ball away, with Stefano Okaka lurking.

This should be an entertaining final 15 minutes or so with both sides going for victory now.

Mauricio Pochettino makes his second change of the game as Mousa Dembele replaces Ryan Mason.

"A diagonal pass drifted beyond the Spurs defence, and Imon Ezekiel didn't make the best of contacts on the ball but it squirmed over the line. Anderlecht are back in this tie."

What an impact! Imoh Ezekiel, with pretty much his first touch, equalises.

Steven Defour sends the ball into the area and Ezekiel makes a brilliant run to cut through the Tottenham defence and poke home.

SUBSTITUTION

Anderlecht make their first change of the game, the hugely impressive 18-year-old Youri Telemans replaced by Imoh Ezekiel.

Albanian championsSkenderbeuare now 3-0 up at home to Sporting Lisbon! Victory tonight would be their first in European competition proper.

AndLazioare 2-0 up at Rosenborg - they're six points clear of third in Group G but not through just yet.

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Erik Lamela, new boots on, brings the ball under control with one touch, rolls it away from a marker with his second before launching a shot just wide of the target.

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Bradley Allen

Former QPR striker on BBC Radio London

"We were right behind that one - a dipping left-foot volley from Ben Davies - what an effort! Anderlecht saved by the width of the crossbar. Silvio Proto the goalkeeper was beaten."

HITS THE WOODWORK

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Ben Davies smacks a dipping effort against the crossbar as Tottenham come forward again. The hosts have control of this game, but could do with a second just to be certain of taking the three points.

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

"Shooooooot," shout the home fans as Erik Lamela squares a pass to Dele Alli, unmarked on the edge of the area, Alli obliges, and his effort is deflected behind for a corner, which Lamela takes and Anderlecht clear.

A welcome sight for Tottenham fans as Son Heung-min, who has been out for a month with a foot injury, comes on, replacing Christian Eriksen.

Huge cheers from the home fans as Son jogs onto the pitch.

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Poor from Erik Lamela.

One-on-one on the edge of the box, he tries to shift the ball on to his left foot but falls when the challenge comes in, too easily in my book and the referee's as well as he waves play on.

Lamela then scampers over to the edge of the pitch for a change of boots.

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Another Tottenham attack is snuffed out and Anderlecht break again, this time Steven Defour's low drive forcing a one-handed outstretched save by Hugo Lloris. You get the sense there's more goals in this game.

For some reason you're sending in your puns for potential Tottenham-themed sandwich shops. Look away now.

Mike, London: I'm thinking of opening a rival to Mark's shop in Watford (see 45 mins). 'Baguetienne Capoue'. Sorry.

Ashwin, Cambridge: You reckon your shop could serve Croque Heung-monsieurs?

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

From that corner Anderlecht break forward quickly, with their attack ending with Olivier Deschacht flashing an effort over the bar.

It was never going to trouble Hugo Lloris, but a reminder that Anderlecht are dangerous on the counter.

Totttenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Good exchange between Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela sees Tottenham win a corner. Eriksen takes it and Eric Dier almost gets his head on the end of it, but the visitors do just enough to clear.

KICK-OFF

Tottenham 1-0 Anderlecht

Away we go then for another 45 minutes of Europa League goodness. No changes for either side as Anderlecht get the second half under way.

Albanian side Skenderbeu are well on course for their first victory in European competition proper - they lead 10-man Sporting Lisbon 2-0.

And Schalke have come back from a goal down at Sparta Prague for 1-1 at half-time. Victory would send the Germans into the knockout stage.
