Manchester City 1-2 West Ham

The Hammers pull off another big shock, adding to their wins at Arsenal and Liverpool. What a rearguard action in that second half. City battered them but they held on by their fingernails.

This is City's first defeat of the league campaign and first dropped points.

Mark Noble celebrates

"Have City fashioned any great chances?"

Man City 1-2 West Ham

BBC Radio Manchester

David White, former Man City and England winger

"West Ham have defended brilliantly, to be fair. They are all behind the ball, aside from Jelavic who is miles away from any of his team-mates.

"On reflection, have City fashioned any great chances in this second half? For all City's possession they haven't really carved out opportunities."

Ant in Essex (Arsenal fan): "Cannot understand why Arsene Wenger didn't buy a striker in the summer. He knew about Danny Welbeck's injury before the close of the transfer window but he still didnt buy a striker. Why? WHY?"

Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal

Disappointed with the result ... Overwhelmed with the reception ! Thank you @Arsenal fans and @ChelseaFC fans

Manchester City 1-2 West Ham

It remains Manchester City 1-2 West Ham. I'm not sure how. The home side have been battering at the door but somehow West Ham have kept it closed.

There are just over five minutes left. Can the Hammers hold on?

"I'm condoning winding people up"

"I'm not condoning cheating at all - Costa didn't cheat. I'm condoning winding people up. And if they bite, they bite!"

More Costa/ Mike Dean reaction

Tom, Arsenal fan:  "If Mike Dean says in his report that he was happy with the decisions he made today, then I would imagine he won't be refereeing in the Premier League next week"

Costa debate

Chelsea 2-0 Arsenal

West Ham may be about to take the title for day's biggest Premier League result, but undoubtedly the most controversial game is Chelsea's 2-0 win over nine-man Arsenal. Diego Costa's display in the game has attracted most attention...

Berahino "well-managed by Tony Pulis"

Aston Villa 0-1 West Brom

Garth Crooks

Final Score

"The Berahino situation was well-managed by Tony Pulis. It's what they're paid to do, but it's the hardest job for a manager. Get it wrong and that dressing room turns into a bear-pit."

Manager reaction

Aston Villa 0-1 West Brom

West Brom boss Tony Pulis, whose side beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park thanks to Saido Berahino's goal: "I thought we played really well today and were the better team - Villa can’t have any complaints. We deserved it, there's no doubt.

"This game was made for Saido. He’s not played a lot of football and looked tired as the game went on, but he was desperate to play and he has the quality that we want and need. Everyone in this room has made mistakes - in a few years time he will look back on the situation and think he should have done better. But it's over now, we move on, as a club we move on and he's a very good player.

"We all work hard and the whole group work. We showed today that if you have a team playing like a team it's very hard to do anything against us. But during the game Villa didn't open us up once."

"This is an onslaught"

Man City 1-2 West Ham

BBC Radio Manchester

David White, former Man City and England winger

"This is an onslaught. Honestly, West Ham will do well to survive this. City have done everything this half, apart from score that crucial goal."

"A rearguard action from West Ham"

Man City 1-2 West Ham

BBC Radio Manchester

David White, former Man City and England winger

"It's just going to be a rearguard action from West Ham now. They gave it their all in the first half but I think these will be a difficult 45 minutes. It will be a great half of football."

Championship leaders Brighton dropped two points courtesy of a 0-0 draw at Wolves , meaning their advantage over Middlesbrough (2-1 winners at Nottingham Forest in the early kick-off) is down to three points.

Manager reaction

Swansea 0-0 Everton

Everton manager Roberto Martinez: "The first half was very level. We needed to be more aggressive going forward and that's why I'm pleased with the second half.

"We created good chances and they should have won us the game. I'm disappointed, but the overall performance was satisfying.

"In the second half we took control, we played through them a few times and everything started with the composure of John Stones and Phil Jagielka."

Manager reaction

Swansea 0-0 Everton

Swansea manager Garry Monk: "We had chances and they had chances, but I think both teams will be happy with a point.

"I thought it was an entertaining game and a good advert for Premier League football. Both teams went for it and both teams defended well.

"I felt it was a good performance. If you can't win a game, you have to make sure you don't lose it, which is what we should have done last week."

Jeremiah Kariuki:  De Bryune opens his account. West Ham have to protect their lead now, otherwise, the Citizens will start the goals riot!

Andy Knowles:  City caught cold by a dangerous West Ham team. It was important to get the goal back before the interval and a great strike from Kevin de Bruyne.

Mark Mason:  Good advert for NOT time wasting in the first half, West Ham!

"A great first half"

Man City 1-2 West Ham

BBC London 94.9

Steve Froggatt, former Aston Villa winger

"It's been a great first half. West Ham fully deserve their lead and for much of that half were throwing everything at City. Now, Slaven Bilic will have to get his side reorganised because City will lay siege to them in the second 45 minutes."

Just because Kevin De Bruyne is a bit ginger...

Man City 1-2 West Ham

Time for a breather and a pie at the Etihad Stadium. Not for the players obviously. Well the breather is, but not the pie...oh you know what I mean.

Half-time in east Manchester as Manuel Pellegrini dishes out a rocket in the home dressing room. Will the Premier League's most mild-mannered manager lose his rag? Probably not.

Robbie Savage

"We've spoken to Howard Webb and Diego Costa could have been booked four times. There was one occasion too where he waved the imaginary yellow card too. I don't like that at all. Mike Dean was awful today".

GOAL - Manchester City 1-2 West Ham

Kevin De Bruyne

Game on! Manchester City are back in this, thanks to £55m man Kevin De Bruyne. The recent signing from Wolfsburg drills low into the bottom corner to halve West Ham's lead. Two minutes of added time left for City to go into the break level.

See if they come close by following our minute-by-minute commentary.

Bayern move top

German Bundesliga

Darmstadt (what do you mean 'who?') have never beaten Bayern Munich - and that barren run continues.

The German minnows - back in the Bundesliga after a 33-year absence - lost 3-0 to the defending champions earlier.

Goals from Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman - both scoring their first goals in the German top-flight  - move Bayern to the top of the table, at least until Borussia Dortmund play Leverkusen on Sunday.

2 - Manchester City have now conceded as many goals in this match (2) as they had in their previous nine league games at home. Stunned.

Manager reaction - Howe

Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe on his team's first top-flight home victory: "It feels really good after last week’s defeat against Norwich. It was a great win.

"It was a brilliant finish and great centre-forward play from Callum Wilson. He has been excellent so far this season.

"It was a fantastic strike from Mat Ritchie. He sets himself up but I don’t think anyone saw the finish coming. It was sublime.

"Sylvain Distin was excellent today, he has had to be patient for his chance and put in a superb performance. Looking at him play, you wouldn't think he was 37 years old. He is the ultimate professional."
