Their players are receiving a standing ovation as they leave the pitch in the pouring rain.

It's been a long time coming and it took a bad mistake by Wayne Hennessey to give them the points, but Villa are worthy winners.

What a howler by Wayne Hennessey.

Aston Villa are deservedly ahead but it's a gift from Wayne Hennessey as the Palace keeper somehow allows Joleon Lescott's header to squirm through his palms and over the line.

It looks like an own goal but it's been given as a Lescott goal for now. Villa fans don't care. Their team is ahead.

#bbcfootball Huge shock. Villa start a player who has scored a hat-full in the reserves...and have a better attacking presence.

Kozak's effort has lifted Villa fans. They are singing their team's name as the hosts enjoy a decent spell. Can they get their first home win of the season?

CLOSE!

Great determination by Libor Kozak almost brings a Villa goal. The recalled striker manages to get a shot away on the edge of the area despite being surrounded a sea of white shirts and Wayne Hennessey just about manages to push his defelcted effort behind.

HT: Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace

Villa fans gave their side a decent round of applause as they headed for the dressing room. The struggling hosts have been decent but one point is no good for Remi Garde's side. They need a goal...and a win.

A close up of Aston Villa's substitutes bench. Plenty of gum-chewing going on but all subs appear to be keeping it in their mouths...unlike at Wycombe.

Remi Garde is just praying for one goal. No sign of one coming at either end at the moment.

This is much more positive from Aston Villa after such a torrid time. That said, Palace look more threatening in front of goal.

CLOSE!

Action at both ends.

Moments after Jordan Ayew fires into Palace's side netting following a long punt forward, Damien Delaney goes so close to giving the visitors the lead after getting between two defenders to meet Yohan Cabaye's cross.

No sign of frustration from Villa's fans at the moment. That will be music to the ears of Remi Garde.

Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace

Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace

First serious chance for Villa...and it's a tame effort. Jordan Veretout tries his luck from 25 yards and it's easily gathered by Wayne Hennessey.

Aston Villa 0-0 Crystal Palace

Stop-start game. It's all pretty scrappy and there have been no serious goal attempts since Wilfried Zaha rattled the post in the opening minute. Villa are still bossing possession.
