The Hornets want to get back to Herts ASAP.
Southampton's Dusan Tadic attempts to score a spectacular second but blazes over from 12 yards.
Moments later Jose Holebas gets a splendid toe on the ball to deny Shane Long a second from eight yards.
Saints keeper Fraser Forster makes his first save of the match - in the 85th minute - diving steadily to his left to hold on to Craig Cathcart's low shot.
Saints striker Graziano Pelle is on after missing the last four matches with an injury. He's gets an expected little ovation from the home fans.
Saints are rampant. Steven Davis cruises down the right and plays a lovely low angled teasing delivery across goal, but Shane Long, at the far post, fails to get any connection under pressure.
With virtually his first touch of the ball, Dusan Tadic makes it 2-0. A long ball is played up to Steven Davis, whose first time headed flick finds Tadic.
The midfielder shifts the ball past Sebastian Prodl and Ikechi Anya and fires in from eight yards despite keeper Heurelho Gomes getting a hand to the shot.
Southampton go close again. Goalscorer Shane Long pulls the ball back for Sadio Mane, whose low drive drifts narrowly past the keeper's left-hand post.
The Senegal attacking midfielder is replaced with Dusan Tadic.
The Saints go close again. A free-kick is played into the area. Virgil van Dijk heads across the goal but Shane Long fails to connect and Sadio Mane finds the side-netting.
Well... that was close. I don't think he was offside.
A long ball is played from the back. Steven Davis runs on to it and fires an excellent shot past Heurelho Gomes, but it's deemed offside.
Moments later, the keeper pushes Oriol Romeu's 20-yard shot away.
Busy few moments at that end of the pitch.
It's smashing it down at St Mary's. Well done to all who turned up.
Scotland winger Ikechi Anya comes on for Almen Abdi.
Saints fans need to be reminded that Watford striker Odion Ighalo - who has seven goals in his last seven games - goes on until stoppage time.
Just a reminder.
It's Sadio Mane again. The livewire attacking midfielder - he's a striker really - teases his way to the edge of the area and tries to find Shane Long with a cheeky backheel, but Sebastian Prodl spots the danger.
Just like at the start of the first half, it's been quiet opening.
Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney have barely seen the ball at St Mary's tonight.
Nothing comes from the corner. As you were.
He's back up. Good to see. Watford have a corner.
Sadio Mane goes in for a challenge with Heurelho Gomes. There's a clash of heads and the Watford keeper is down.
He's writhing around - understandably - and is getting treatment on the pitch.
The Saints get us back under way.
The Watford defence look like they just met each other tonight. Sebastian Prodl plays a wayward backpass, but fortunately for him Steven Davis fails to punish him.
Moments earlier, Heurelho Gomes' poor throw arrives at the feet of Sadio Mane - but the keeper makes amends by clawing the ball back from the attacker.
Huge credit to Southampton's midfield. They've barely let Watford penetrate the halfway line, hence the defence have had little to do.
Jose Fonte hooks one over the bar from 12 yards after a decent pull-back by Cedric Soares.
The Saints should have scored a second by now.
It's one of those 'he did everything but score' moments.
Watford's Jurado plays a horrid backpass to Sebastian Prodl, whose has the ball nicked off him by the alert Sadio Mane.
But with only Heurelho Gomes to beat Mane slides his shot an inch past the right-hand post.
Southampton's Shane Long in again.... but the flag's up. The Republic of Ireland striker was played in on the right by Oriol Romeu, but he was a fraction off.
Super block by Saints' Ryan Bertrand. The England full-back denies the twisting, weaving striker Odion Ighalo whose shot in charged down by the defender.
Goalscorer Shane Long almost grabs his second. This time the Irish striker's shot tight on the angle is pushed away by Heurelho Gomes.
Moments later, Cedric Soares is shown yellow for a foul on Jose Holebas.
The blankets are out for both managers. It's raining/sleeting and it's cold.
Saints under pressure. Full-back Allan Nyom is getting a lot of room down the left, but again his cross fails to find a Watford attacker.
Straight back at the other end Sadio Mane drifts into the Watford area before firing a shot that Heurelho Gomes has to push out for a corner.
Nothing comes from the resulting set-piece.
Great, great cross. Take a bow Matt Targett. The 20-year-old left-back provides a peach of a delivery for Shane Long who deftly nods the ball past Heurelho Gomes from 12 yards.
That's Long's eighth goal of the season.
... but full-back Allan Nyom, who has been impressive this season, fails to find either Odion Ighalo or Troy Deeney with his delivery from the right.
Watford on the attack...
Southampton's Shane Long feeds Sadio Mane. The pass is too strong but the pacy Mane almost gets in ahead of keeper Heurelho Gomes.
Those two look a threat - that's Long and Mane, I mean.
Sadio Mane, who did not play in the defeat by Norwich because he was punished for being late, is back in the Saints starting line-up. He looks quite lively on the left. The attacker tried to find Oriol Romeu with a cutback... but didn't.
Moments later, Romeu does get hold of the ball but finds the New Forest with his effort.
It's been a quiet start. Watford's seven-in-seven man Odion Ighalo has just been caught offside. Can the Saints defence keep him quiet tonight? He does keep going until stoppage time. Engine.
We are under way.
