Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace

Man City with a clinical display to move top of the Premier League. Thanks for joining me.

Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace

Yohan Cabaye, you're a lucky boy. The Frenchman pulls down a City man, minutes after getting a yellow card, but referee Jon Moss shows mercy and lets him off.

YELLOW CARD

Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace

Frustration from Yohan Cabaye, going in late on Man City defender Nicolas Otamendi and earning a booking.

Mark Lawrenson

Ex-Liverpool defender at the Etihad for BBC Radio 5 live

"The ball went over the half-way line and straight away it was two City players against one.

"They went past Joel Ward, the goalkeeper came out and Aguero knew exactly where the goalkeeper was, he passes it, David Silva takes one touch and finds the bottom left hand corner.

"You know with Aguero that when he comes back from an injury he needs three or four games and then he explodes.

"I am surprised by the substitutions from Alan Pardew, they have not tried to score a goal in this second-half."

Going through the motions now. Three minutes to play.

GOAL - Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace

David Silva

Walked in, all too easy.

Crystal Palace send too many men forward and get caught on the break. Kevin De Bruyne nicks the ball to Sergio Aguero, who pops the ball on and runs through on goal.

Unselfishly, instead of shooting, he lays it off the man-of-the-match David Silva as the Spaniard takes his time and slots the ball home. Lovely stuff.

...Yaya Toure smacks the free-kick straight into the wall.

Anyone who's played football in freezing conditions and gets one in the thigh will know how much of a stinger it is.

Man City 3-0 Crystal Palace

David Silva is brought down by Joe Ledley and Manchester City have a free-kick in a dangerous position...

The £141m goal

Man City 3-0 Crystal Palace

Injuries to Sergio Aguero and David Silva mean they have not linked up too often with Yaya Toure and Kevin de Bruyne for Manchester City this season, but their side's third goal today showed what attacking players who cost a combined £141m are capable of together.

It was started and finished by Aguero, who had the easiest of close-range tap-ins - but only after he and his team-mates had carved Crystal Palace's defence apart.

Definitely worth watching Match of the Day for later.

Man City's third goal

CLOSE!

Man City 3-0 Crystal Palace

Gosh! Crystal Palace almost get one back as Frenchman Yohan Cabaye thumps a 35-yard drive goalwards, which starts on target but sails inches wide.

Joe Hart was beaten, but Cabaye had too much bend on it. It would have been a stunner.

YELLOW CARD

Man City 3-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace go to the other end and find striker Marouane Chamakh. He turns Martin Demichelis inside the area before flinging himself to the ground, trying to con the referee into giving a penalty.

Jon Moss is having none of it and books Chamakh. That could almost have been two yellows.

'It was an easy finish'

Chris Sutton

Former Chelsea & Norwich striker on Final Score

"That goal is all about Kevin De Bruyne. A lot of players would have taken the shot but he took some time and played it to Aguero, and it was an easy finish."

GOAL - Man City 3-0 Crystal Palace

Sergio Aguero

A sublime City third.

Someone work out how much this goal is worth? It is an excellent team goal from the home side.

David Silva on the left, slides a ball to Sergio Aguero inside the box, who lays it off to Yaya Toure.

Toure shapes to shoot but pops it off wide to Kevin De Bruyne, who also feigns and sends three Crystal Palace defenders into next week, instead rolling it back to Aguero who pops the ball in.

Stunning. Game done.

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Waheeeeeey! Crystal Palace defender Damien Delaney is shepherding the ball out of play and bundles over the linesman. The official sees the funny side of it and is very professional, getting to his feet before signalling a Palace throw.

SUBSTITUTION

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham has worked hard today without reward and is now brought off.

Striker Marouane Chamakh enters the action.

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace full-back Joel Ward, who has bagged a couple of goals this season, is looking to take matters into his own hands with a foray forward before thrashing wide.

Complete silence inside Etihad Stadium at the moment. City fans feel this is won, Palace fans can sense it's another loss.

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Easy for Man City at the moment, nothing to frighten them although if defender Martin Demichelis decides to run out of defence towards the halfway line and completely miss the ball again then it could set hearts racing.

Mark Lawrenson

Ex-Liverpool defender at the Etihad for BBC Radio 5 live

"In the second-half Crystal Palace have been dominating the game without ever looking like fashioning a chance."

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Oof, Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham goes in hard into the back of Man City defender Nicolas Otamendi but no booking. He could have done some serious damage there.

Bret The Hitman Hart would have been proud of that maneuver. Wickham just needed to climb on top of Otamendi for the three count.

SUBSTITUTION

Can Yaya Toure add to his impressive tally against Crystal Palace? The Ivory Coast man comes on in place of Kelechi Iheanacho.

This is my ball, I own this pitch and you'll play how I want you to.

That's David Silva for you, controlling the tempo of this game and he has been immense today.

PENALTY APPEAL

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Penalty shout for Crystal Palace? Fernando clears a ball which hits Martin Demichelis on the hand and goes away for a corner. The Argentine knew nothing about it and referee Jon Moss waves away the protests.

Another outswinging corner from Jason Puncheon and no problems for City dealing with it. They're not going to score like that.

SUBSTITUTION

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Ch-ch-ch-changes. Aleksandar Kolarov cannot continue and has to be taken off on a stretcher. He looks in quite a bit of trouble.

Former Arsenal man Gael Clichy comes on and it's a straight swap at left back.

Left-back Aleksandar Kolarov is sat on the pitch looking in a bit of trouble. Can he play on? He's rubbing the back of his left leg.

Gael Clichy is out warming up. He'll need plenty of warming in this weather.

Do City's Raheem Sterling and Palace winger Wilfried Zaha go to the same barber? It looks like they've got a spider sat on their head.

The Palace man is getting on the ball a little more in the second half, swinging in a couple of crosses but City defend rigidly.

Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace on the front foot early in the second half, like they were in the first.

Another Yohan Cabaye corner floated away from goal which City have no problems clearing.

Swing a corner inwards and they'll score, I guarantee it. Give it a try.

KICK-OFF

Back under way in chilly Manchester.

Silva shining again

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

It's fair to say that Manchester City playmaker David Silva has not been at his best since returning from a seven-week lay-off at the start of December.

The signs are Silva is getting some of his sharpness back, however. He impressed after coming off the bench against Everton in midweek and has been City's most influential player so far against Crystal Palace.

The Spaniard had more touches and played more passes in either half than anyone else in the first 45 minutes. He also made three key passes (one of which is shown by the yellow arrow), had four shots, and made one assist (blue arrow) when he set up City's first goal. Not a bad afternoon's work so far.

BBC Sport's football expert Mark Lawrenson pits his wits against a different guest each week this season - and he's predicting an easy home win in this one.

Lawro's opponent for the latest round of Premier League fixtures are Creed stars Michael B Jordan & Tony Bellew.

Everton fan and professional boxer Bellew plays 'Pretty' Ricky Conlan in the film, that sees Sylvester Stallone reprise his role as the former world heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa.

Balboa is trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson - played by Jordan - the son of his former rival Apollo Creed.

No way back for Palace

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Mark Lawrenson

Ex-Liverpool defender at the Etihad for BBC Radio 5 live

"I just think that Alan Pardew has to say to his players, 'Score the next goal in the game and get City on the back foot and we can get something out of it', but I can not see it happening."

HALF-TIME

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

And that is the last act of the first half. Man City in control.

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Nearly a third as City slot into fourth gear.

Having grabbed his first, Sergio Aguero is now sniffing another, letting fly with a left-footed shot which was heading in, but Damien Delaney bravely blocks to keep the score at 2-0.

Seconds later, Aguero curls an effort over the crossbar. The Argentine is on it.

'Aguero makes the difference'

Former Chelsea & Norwich striker on Final Score

"It's been quite a scrappy game but how often do we see Sergio Aguero making the difference?"

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

A long way back for Crystal Palace now. They'll be happy just to get on the scoresheet.

City brimming with confidence and knocking the ball around nicely. Currently, they are top of the Premier League.

'A daft goal'

Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Mark Lawrenson

Ex-Liverpool defender at the Etihad for BBC Radio 5 live

"What a daft goal from Crystal Palace's point of view. It was a deflection and completely beat Wayne Hennessey. I would expect my goalkeeper to get to that. Palace have conceded two goals and City are in control of this match and they have not played well."

GOAL - Man City 2-0 Crystal Palace

Sergio Aguero

Deflected in but they all count.

Almost on introduction, Sergio Aguero doubles Manchester City's lead. He's around 30 yards out and aiming for one corner, but defender Scott Dann cranes his neck out to divert the ball into the other side of the net.

Wayne Hennessey had no chance with that one.

Manuel Pellegrini is happy, hope Aguero is happy too.
