France 2-1 Romania

Thierry Henry

'Romania can progress'

France 2-1 Romania

Danny Mills

Ex-England defender on BBC Radio 5 live

"Romania were exceptional in the first half and incredibly brave. I thought their resolve would go after they conceded but they kept at it and got back into it. It was a soft one but it was a penalty. Romania will cause Albania and Switzerland problems. There is no reason why they can t get out of the group."

France 2-1 Romania

Much-maligned striker Olivier Giroud has now scored eight goals in his last six starts for France.

Meawhile, at 19 years and 362 days, Kingsley Coman became the youngest player to play for France in a major international tournament.

'Payet was hurting'

France 2-1 Romania

Thierry Henry

Former France International on BBC Radio 5 live

"Dimitri Payet thought he was going to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. He was involved in every qualifying game but they took that away from him.

"Tonight you saw a man who was hurt. He was saying with that performance 'you didn't take me to the World Cup and I am going to show you'. He wanted every single ball. You can't win a game by yourself. but that strike... oh my gosh.

"No one is going to take what is happening to him now away from him. He showed tremendous desire. He was the one that drove the team forward."

The Romanians were unlucky and take the acclaim of their supporters. It was a good effort, but they came up just short in the end.

This game is ebbing away into a draw. No real flow in it now as time comes to a close. Romania have done very well in this match and will want to keep their concentration.

France 1-1 Romania

If France don't win this game, the fault will not lie with Dimitri Payet. The West Ham midfielder has done his part tonight with an assist and seven key passes. Best player on the pitch.

France 1-1 Romania

They can't stop Dimitri Payet in a legal manner so Adrian Popa drags down the West Ham man and concedes a free-kick in the centre circle.
