Goodbye!

Germany 2-3 England

Right, it is time for us to say goodbye and disappear into the night. The England fans over in Berlin will be celebrating long into the night (especially those planning on visiting one of those grimy underground techno clubs in the German capital).

Hopefully they will have sobered up by Tuesday. That's when Roy Hodgson's side are back in action, hosting the Netherlands at Wembley.

We're back on Monday when Wales travel to Ukraine and Northern Ireland host Slovenia.

See you then!

Germany 2-3 England

The Rooney debate will rightly rage but I think we all know that Roy will - rightly or wrongly - start him if he's fit. Fascinating. #eng

Let's try to win Euro 2016 - Waddle

Germany 2-3 England

Chris Waddle

Former England winger on 5 live Sport

"I'm fed up of us going to a tournament, like Brazil, saying it is a learning curve, the next one is a learning curve.

"What are we building for? Qatar? All these players going to the tournament are first-choice Premier League players. Let's try and win it!

"Do Germany go to a tournament and say it is a learning curve? Will France be saying it is a learning curve for the World Cup in Russia? No.

"None of these teams go to go out in the quarter-finals, pat themselves on the back and say well done."

Jordan Harrison: I can't remember the last time England's football, cricket and rugby teams all played well at the same time.

Craig Andrew Smith: A few years ago it was Ox, Wilshere & Walcott. They didn't take their chance, step up Ali, Dier and Kane, your turn!

Fantastic comeback - Hodgson

Germany 2-3 England

England manager Roy Hodgson is asked in the Olympiastadion tunnel if the performance was the best of his four-year reign....

"It must be close - you don't beat Germany every day," he tells ITV. "It was a good follow up to our performance against France, we carried on where we left off.

"At half-time I thought it was very unjust that we came in at 1-0 down, our keeper was injured and that really hampered him trying to save the long shot from Kroos. At 2-0 down I thought it was even more unfair.

"We were creating the better chances and to come back and score three goals was fantastic. The players must take great credit."

Germany see the funny side...

Oh, what a night!

Germany 2-3 England

England striker Harry Kane, who produced a Johan Cruyff turn before firing in the visitors' first: "Was it a dedication to Cruyff? Maybe! We played brilliant today, had a lot of chances, we could have scored more. We never gave in. What a night.

"Everyone needs to stay calm. It is a friendly, but it is a great night for England and shows what a team we are.

"We have to keep coming back, keep doing what we're doing, we have another important game on Tuesday against the Netherlands and go from there."

Surely that is England's best performance - and result - under Roy Hodgson?

"Maybe," is the cool and collected response from the composed England gaffer.

Come on Roy. Get carried away like the rest of the nation!

Full quotes from Hodgson to come...

'Incredible performance from England'

Germany 2-3 England

Terry Butcher

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

"The tactical shape changed around and carried on playing way we can. Harry Kane’s goal got England back into it very quickly and then took the ascendancy from Germany and never looked back.

"It was just an incredible performance and when that third goal went in...wow...what a special moment."

Injured Rooney is 'buzzing'

High point of my season - Vardy

Germany 2-3 England

England's equalising goalscorer striker Jamie Vardy, who has been central in Leicester's unlikely Premier League title chase, speaking to ITV: "Is it the high point of your season? Yes I think it is.

"I was trying to make impact, I've done that and we won the game. I just wanted to get across near post, get something on it and tried a back heel. Luckily it went in."

'I told Jordan to go to the front post'

Germany 2-3 England

England matchwinner Eric Dier speaking to ITV: "I told Jordan Henderson to put the corner to the front post, he had put a few to the back post. He put it right there and I got my head to it. I'm delighted."

It looks like a real team performance rather than a group of individuals for once

Dan Bedford

When is the last time England played with such swagger? 1996? Regardless of result this will do the team the world of good.

There's no place for Rooney in this England team.

Germany 2-3 England

Terry Butcher

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

"What an exceptional performance. They took the game to Germany and if England can play that way they shouldn’t fear anyone in the Euros.

"A year ago England would have crumbled but they have changed the system and threw the subs on. A lot of things have worked."

"Expectations will rise but why not. There are a lot of players missing but they were brilliant.

"Take a bow lads."

All over! England see out that final minute with no drama. The travelling fans greet the final whistle with a huge roar, Roy Hodgson allows himself a cheeky can't-believe-what-has-just-happened grin.

One minute of injury time for England to navigate safely...

Germany 2-3 England

John Murray

BBC Radio 5 live commentator at the Etihad Stadium

"This is the stuff of fairytales. Talk about spirit in Roy Hodgson’s young England team."

GOAL - Germany 2-3 England

Eric Dier

They've done it! England snatch the lead in Berlin. From two goals down against the world champions!

Eric Dier springs high at the near post, meeting Jordan Henderson's right-wing corner with a thumping header.

Roy Hodgson celebrates on his feet, Joachim Low sits motionless and arms folded.

Could still swing either way this one. Have England got a big finish in them? Well they have won a corner...

Germany 2-2 England

England's players get sucked into the middle, like bees attracted to honey. The honey being the ball at Sami Khedira's feet. The Juve midfielder slips the ball out to Andre Schurrle, who is stood alone in acres of space. But he doesn't know whether to cross or shoot, only ending up finding a red shirt.

Mark Read: Alli has been superb tonight - best player on the pitch. With Kane and Vardy on form like this Rooney wouldn't get in my team!

Ebenezer Anangfio: Delle Alli? Come on boy. How come? My grandfather would have scored that

Small Man Peaky: My grandpa would have scored that and he's in hospital for a hip replacement.

Germany 2-2 England

England are completely and utterly outplaying Germany. A tweet I never thought I'd type.

Germany 2-2 England

Terry Butcher

Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

"That comes from England pressing. I think it is about nine yards out and he blazes it over but well played England pressing so high. It is all England now."

EVEN CLOSER!

Germany 2-2 England

*Almost speechless*

How has Dele Alli missed? The England golden boy loses his midas touch when it really counts, digging a simple chance over the bar from 12 yards. The German goal was gaping!

Jamie Vardy teed up the chance, robbing the German defence of the ball close to their own area as they casually dillied and dallied.

CLOSE!

Germany 2-2 England

Still England press. Jordan Henderson's run is spotted by Ross Barkley, the Liverpool captain driving forward before crashing a swerving effort just past Manuel Neuer's right-hand post. Blimey...

Most exciting England team in a long time. Not sure when the last time was I actually enjoyed watching them. Equaliser thoroughly deserved

Germany 2-2 England

Germany free-kick about 30 yards out. England hold firm, Danny Rose wins a free-kick to ease the pressure.

Cracking game this. Can we have extra-time if it stays 2-2? Please?

SUBSTITUTIONS

Germany 2-2 England

In the midst of all that, Germany have made a couple of changes. Former Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski and Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze - the man who scored the World Cup-winning goal no less - replace Thomas Muller and Mario Gomez.

GOAL - Germany 2-2 England

Jamie Vardy

Oh. My. Word! England are level - thanks to a sublime finish from Jamie Vardy. The substitute makes an instant impact, superbly flicking in Nathaniel Clyne's low cross from the right with his instep. Brilliant.

He's having a party - and so is Roy! Hodgson is up on his feet scampering towards the touchline with a tipsy-uncle-at-a-party jig. He's pleased.
