Think Liverpool are getting confused with Rafa there. 2-0 up at HT & letting Newcastle make an Istanbul style comeback.

Andy Tullock, London

Why didnt Coutinho start? He's been clinical and scored goals in the last few games, personally think hes a key player for Liverpool to get goals and win

Liverpool are so inconsistent, we're inconsistent at being inconsistent. If that makes any sense.

Ashwin, Cambridge

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Big chance to win it. The ball breaks to Philippe Coutinho on the edge of the box but his shot is blocked by Vurnon Anita.

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Jonjo Shelvey's first act is to try and find Georginio Wijnaldum with a sweeping ball into the box but Simon Mignolet is out quickly to claim the ball.

SUBSTITUTION

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Liverpool's third change. Sheyi Ojo for Adam Lallana.

Newcastle send on Jonjo Shelvey for Cheick Tiote. The ex-Liverpool man gets a warm round of applause from the home fans.

"Liverpool have switched off but you have got to credit Newcastle, they didn’t believe they had lost and now this game is anyone’s."

Chance for Liverpool's Kevin Stewart as the ball breaks to him on the edge of the box but he blazes his shot high over the bar.

Jermaine Jenas

Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Final Score

"The way Newcastle have come back has been brilliant. It's the exact same spirit and determination they showed against Manchester City. They could go on and win this game."

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Adam Lallana again looks to try and restore Liverpool's lead, but his run down the right byline results in a corner. Lucas, who came on along with Philippe Coutinho a few minutes ago, heads the corner towards goal from deep in the box but Newcastle are able to clear.

Iain Lumsden: Liverpool back to normal. Inconsistent and can't hold onto a lead.

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Jermaine Jenas

Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Final Score

"This time it's not Mignolet's fault. Colback gets good contact and it does hit Lovren's foot on its way in, wrong-footing the keeper.

"This is exactly what they did against Manchester City. After what I'm seeing here I wouldn't be surprised if Newcastle went on to win the game - they've been transformed!"

SUBSTITUTION

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Do Newcastle dare win this? They send on Aleksandar Mitrovic for Papiss Cisse, whose goal at the start of this half prompted the United fightback.

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Oh, close! Adam Lallana fires from an angle inside the box but puts his effort just a yard past the far post.

Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Well, well, well, who saw this coming at the break? Certainly not me. Liverpool were cruising. But Newcastle have shown a lot of fight. Just the kind of fight that gets a side out of a relegation fight.

"Goals change games. Cisse's goal changed this game and given the carrot of the goal, Newcastle look really up for it now."

GOAL - Liverpool 2-2 Newcastle

Jack Colback

Would you believe it! It's 2-2! Jack Colback hasn't scored all season but he is in exactly the right place to latch on to Dejan Lovren's weak headed clearance from an Andros Townsend cross and fire a deflected shot in past Simon Mignolet. I said Newcastle needed something special to get back into this game. Well, they have found it.

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

This is a crucial period for Newcastle. Liverpool are applying pressure. If they get a third, Newcastle are done and dusted.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Liverpool have the ball in the net as Roberto Firmino follows up Joe Allen's saved close-range header from a James Milner cross, but the flag is up. Firmino wags his finger at the official. He is wrong to do so, though. He was off. Good call.

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Liverpool look to reassert their dominance but James Milner's free-kick from the left is headed away and Connor Randall's resulting shot from way out is blocked.

Was it a penalty?

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Jermaine Jenas

Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Final Score

"Newcastle have come out a completely different side. If Cisse gets his touch right he gets a shot on goal.

"But it was definitely a penalty for Tiote's foul on Sturridge just moments before. Tiote just hung his leg out - it gives Sturridge every right to go over it. I think the referee's missed one there."

YELLOW CARD

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Yellow card for Liverpool's James Milner for bringing down Georginio Wijnaldum.

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Trevor Sinclair

Former England winger on Final Score

"That was a penalty. It was a lazy lunge from Tiote and he is a very lucky boy."

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

What a minute of play! At one end, Daniel Sturridge goes down under the poked out leg of Cheick Tiote, prompting huge calls for a penalty that are waved away, before Newcastle break to present firstly Cisse and then Townsend with chances to shoot. The latter fires his effort over the bar. There are more goals in this.

Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Trevor Sinclair

Former England winger on Final Score

"As a winger it is one of them where you think, 'Don’t come for that, keeper.’ Mignolet can’t come for it, he got nowhere near it and it is a simple header for Cisse."

GOAL - Liverpool 2-1 Newcastle

Papiss Cisse

Hold on. This game isn't over yet! Newcstle have one back thanks to some lax Liverpool defending and a solid header from Papiss Cisse. Vernon Anita is allowed to cross from the right and Simon Mignolet charges out, misjudges it and allows the ball to beat him and reach Cisse, who heads into the empty net. Just what United needed - a lifeline.

Of course Sturridge should go to France. Most natural finisher in the Prem as proven by his goal today. Surely England fans want the best for their national team and anti-LFC sentiment shouldn't come into it?!

Lee, Yeovil

51 goals in 88 games not bad for an "overrated" player... And currently on about 8 goals in 12 games this season I think. Best English striker when fit hands down.

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

It has been 20 years since Newcastle won at Anfield. They will have to do something pretty special in the next 45 minutes to avoid going down to their 20th defeat of the league campaign.

KICK-OFF

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

We are back under way and Newcastle have made a change. United top-scorer Georginio Wijnaldum, who scored in the reverse fixture this season - a 2-0 win for Newcastle, is on for Ayoze Perez.

Sturridge should not go to France, what commitment has he shown to England by making himself unavailable during qualifiers when he was actually fit. Overrated.

Peter in Manchester

My main worry for Liverpool on Thursday night is not injuries nor drug bans but the fact Mignolet has probably forgotten how to make a save.

Mo, Manchester

Klopp has got the whole team singing of the same hymn sheet, already looking forward to next season!!!

Daniel Thirlwell: Rafa showing he can still make Liverpool play fantastically at Anfield...

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Liverpool have bossed possession and the game. However, they have only had two shots on target. Not that this matters when you score from both!

In contrast, Newcastle have mustered two efforts, both of which have missed the Liverpool goal by a distance.

HALF-TIME

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Worryingly for Newcastle, this game appears to have been over from the moment Daniel Sturridge's shot hit the back of the net after 76 seconds.

The away side have offered very little and, thanks to Lallana's second, Liverpool are cruising to another win.

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Newcastle are finishing the half quite well. Papiss Cisse's cross from the left is over everyone in the box but falls for Vernon Anita, charging in down the right. Unfortunately for the away side, he slices his angled shot badly wide. And Mignolet has still yet to make a save.

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Jermaine Jenas

Ex-Spurs & England midfielder on Final Score

"I don't see any hope for Newcastle here. They won't get anything out of it without changing things drastically. Newcastle are no disgrace but Liverpool are just so confident, they're popping it around creating chance after chance. Newcastle are struggling to even hold on to the ball."

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Newcastle attack again down the right but Moussa Sissoko's cross is too heavy and swings out of play.

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

But wait... here is some purpose from the away side. A cross comes in from the right and his headed wide by the diving Papiss Cisse. It wouldn't have counted anyway as the flag was up for offside, but it is at least a small sign of attacking intent.

Liverpool 2-0 Newcastle

Newcastle are being out-worked, out-played, out-everything at the moment. It is not just that they are losing here, it is that they don't give the impression they have any belief they can dig themselves out of trouble, either in this game or the season.
