When is a friendly not a friendly? When it is Germany versus England.

The rivalry between the two on the pitch is as old as it is fierce and they lock horns once again tomorrow and Germany are determined to give a real statement of intent ahead of Euro 2016.

"We want to give the world something to write home about," Thomas Muller says.

Not one to miss. We'll be back with live text and radio commentary on that game from 18:00 GMT. See you then.

Right, almost time for us to wrap up.

There is one friendly still being played - Portugal versus Bulgaria - and if you want to keep tabs on that then head here.

Expectations being kept in check? The majority of those who responded to our vote in this live don't give the Republic of Ireland much hope of progressing out of a group that contains Sweden, Italy and Belgium at Euro 2016.

Fifty one percent of you think they will go out at the group stage, although 14% think they will win the whole thing. Possibly being a tad mischievous there, though.

Beat Sweden and who knows?

Slovakia, by the way, are the Republic of Ireland's next opponents. The two will meet at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Bosnia-Herzegovina produced the goods late on to beat Luxembourg 3-0. Striker Edin Dzeko is amongst the goalscorerers.

There were no goals in the games between Slovakia and Latvia and Armenia and Belarus.

Meanwhile, a bit of a surprise result brewing in Portugal, where Cristiano Ronaldo and co are losing 1-0 to Bulgaria at half time.

FULL-TIME

Netherlands 2-3 France

An entertaining game on an emotional night in the Netherlands. Some fight shown by the hosts, but France look a real danger going into Euro 2016.

FULL-TIME

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

All over and an experimental Republic of Ireland side edge victory.

Not a classic, and I'm not sure how much Martin O'Neill will have learned about those players on the fringes of the squad, but a win is a win.

GOAL - Netherlands 2-3 France

Blaise Matuidi (87 mins)

Erm, what was I saying?

The Netherlands fans were still celebrating as a sweeping France attack ends with Anthony Martial playing in Blaise Matuidi and he finishes confidently.

Matuidi's shirt number? 14 - the same as Johan Cruyff. Just a shame for the home fans it was not a Dutch player with that shirt number scoring.

GOAL - Netherlands 2-2 France

Ibrahim Afellay (86 mins)

The comeback is complete. France had pretty much given up trying after going two-goals up and the Netherlands have punished them as Memphis Depay plays a corner short to Ibrahim Afellay just inside the area. No-one has picked him up and Afellay smashes in a first time shot.

CLOSE!

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

What a chance!

Pajtim Kasami, once of Fulham, basically gives the ball to Eunan O'Kane and he charges forward before lashing an effort just wide.

The 90 minutes are up and there will be three additional minutes.

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

Some nice, neat passing between James McCarthy and Wes Hoolahan. The Republic are playing some good stuff now with five minutes to go and the substitutions have certainly had a positive impact on the quality of football on show.

CLOSE!

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

Almost an equaliser for the visitors as Swiss sub Shani Tarashaj sees his shot deflected inches wide.

The hosts follow that up with another change as James McClean comes on for Shane Long.

SUBSTITUTION

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

THE worst thing about writing a live text commentary on friendly games is keeping up with the substitutions. Managers have an annoying habit of making one, then another about two minutes later.

Wes Hoolahan comes on to replace Daryl Murphy, while full-back Francois Moubandje replaces Ricardo Rodríguez as both managers opt to take a look at a few more players. A minute later, the Swiss make another change, with Silvan Widmer on for Michael Lang.

SUBSTITUTION

Netherlands 1-2 France

Class from Davy Klaassen. Well, not really, just wanted to use that sentence, but he has been at the centre of the Netherlands' best football in this half.

Once again he warms Steve Mandanda's gloves with an effort from outside the box, but it is a relatively tame shot.

A change for France as Olivier Giroud is replaced by Andre-Pierre Gignac.

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

This update gives an indication of the amount of excitement in this game. Certainly not one that is going to be talked about for years to come.

Still, at least the fans have been able to have a beer or two in the concourse.

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

The Swiss do indeed make a number of changes as Gelson Fernandes - once of Manchester City - Shani Tarashaj and Pajtim Kasami are on for Valon Behrami, Blerim Dzemaili and Admir Mehmedi respectively.

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

It is just Shane Duffy's second international appearance for the Republic of Ireland but he has impressed tonight. Both he and Ciaran Clark have looked very assured and Switzerland have been limited to half chances throughout.

Just under 20 minutes to go and it looks like the visitors are about to make a few changes.

Netherlands 1-2 France

End-to-end now as Dimitri Payet smacks an effort against the upright for France, before Davy Klaassen volleys wide at the other end of the pitch.

Just seen a replay of the Dutch goal and it looks like they got a huge slice of luck. A different angle to the one I initially saw shows that it was handball by Luuk de Jong.

SUBSTITUTION

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

Three substitutions for the Republic with Jonny Hayes and Eunan O'Kane coming on for their debuts, while James McCarthy also comes on. Stephen Quinn, David Meyler and Aiden McGeady the men going off.

CLOSE!

Netherlands 1-2 France

Almost the equaliser! Davy Klaassen directs a header from a cross towards the bottom corner but it lacks power and Steve Mandanda has time to get across and clutch the ball. There's a bit more zip about the Netherlands in this half.

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

Switzerland are bossing possession at the moment - 68% to the Republic of Ireland's 32% - but they are not quite as dangerous in the final third as they were in the first half. No real chances yet in this half.

GOAL - Netherlands 1-2 France

Luuk de Jong (48 mins)

What an impact by Memphis Depay!

The Manchester United man curls a free-kick into the area and Luuk de Jong nudges the ball in via his shoulder. Game on.

KICK-OFF

Netherlands 0-2 France

Some Premier League interest as changes are made by both the Netherlands and France for the second half.

Manchester United duo Memphis Depay and Anthony Martial are on. France's Martial giving Dutch winger Memphis a wink as they both jog onto the pitch.

Stoke's Ibrahim Afellay is also on for the Netherlands, replacing Virgil Van Dijk, while Leicester's N'Golo Kante replaces Lassana Diarra for France.

Kevin Doyle leaves the pitch injured

Could this spell the end of striker Kevin Doyle's international career? It was a bad-looking injury for the striker.

KICK-OFF

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

Back under way in Dublin. No changes for either side, although I imagine it won't be long before Martin O'Neill takes a look at some of his options on the bench.

No goals in the other friendlies being played tonight, with Portugal having just kicked off against Bulgaria.

A half that the Netherlands will want to forget in terms of what happened on the pitch, but this was a memorable moment as Dutch and French players and fans united to pay tribute to Johan Cruyff, who died on Thursday.

You can see more pictures here.

HALF-TIME

Netherlands 0-2 France

Netherlands 0-2 France

No change in the pattern of play in Amsterdam, with France firmly in control. They have a corner in stoppage time which Paul Pogba whips in and Patrice Evra surges through a crowd to meet it, but his header is straight at the keeper.

HALF-TIME

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

Not the best of games but so far so good for the hosts, who still lead through that early Ciaran Clark goal. We are into four minutes of stoppage time at the end of the first half.

Alex, Northampton: Doing a Berbatov. To coast through life doing as little as possible but still able to generate high income or perks. For example, 'look dear, I have managed to Berbatov a company car!'

SUBSTITUTION

Netherlands 0-2 France

It goes from bad to worse for the Netherlands.

Wesley Sneijder's game is over. The Dutch captain limps towards the edge of the pitch and Ajax midfielder Riechedly Bazoer replaces him. Daley Blind takes on the captain's armband.

YELLOW CARD

Booking for Blerim Dzemaili after rather embarrassingly going to ground in the penalty area.

HITS THE WOODWORK

R. of Ireland 1-0 Switzerland

It has been pretty scrappy, with the Republic having looked particularly disjointed since taking the lead but a chance come out of nothing as Seamus Coleman crosses from the right for Shane Long, whose header comes off the crossbar. The Southampton man then has another go but Yann Sommer catches. Close.

Republic keeper Darren Randolph has to be alert as a shot by Granit Xhaka, which looked to be going wide, is deflected on target. Safely gathered by the West Ham man.
