Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

That's it from me tonight, following what was a rather breathless finish at the City Ground as Brighton secured that late winner.

Middlesbrough could go top of the Championship tomorrow night with victory at home to Reading. You'll be able to find live updates on the BBC Sport website.

We'll have more Championship live text commentary on Friday night, when Brighton host Fulham and Hull take on Wolves.

Until then, good night.

Recap: Albion keep pressure on top two

Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

There was late drama at the City Ground as Steve Sidwell struck a stoppage-time winner for Brighton, who kept the pressure up on the Championship's top two.

Lewis Dunk had headed the Seagulls into the lead midway through the first half from Jiri Skalak's free-kick.

Substitute Dexter Blackstock equalised for Forest early in the second half from an almost identical move.

Both sides went close to a winner before Sidwell latched on to Anthony Knockaert's surging run into the area.

You can read my colleague Adam Williams' full match report here.

We weren't at our best tonight and when you aren't, you need to find a way to win the game. We didn't create chances but I think we deserved it with our endeavour at the end. We are still pushing and anything can happen from now.

That late winner went down well with Brighton striker Bobby Zamora, who is currently sidelined through injury...

That victory moves Brighton to two points behind league leaders Burnley.

The Seagulls remain third and are now one point behind Middlesbrough.

It could be all change by the next time the Clarets are in action on Saturday though; Boro host Reading tomorrow night and Albion entertain Fulham on Friday night.

Forest, meanwhile, stay 20th and are nine points above the bottom three.

FT: Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

That could be vital come the end of the season. We knew we had to get the points, playing on the Monday night. We go into every game wanting to win and hopefully it will be our season.

Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

And there is the final whistle!

Steve Sidwell's late goal has given Brighton victory at Nottingham Forest.

It's rather harsh on the home side, who were much better in the second half.

Brighton are now nine league games unbeaten while Forest are six without a win.

Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

Forest are enjoying some late pressure and Brighton are having to deal with several crosses

The ball then drost to Chris Cohen on the edge of the area but he sidefoots wide.

Surely that's it now?

Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

That, by the way, was Steve Sidwell's first goal for Brighton in over 13 years..

The 33-year-old hit a brace in a 2-2 draw against Burnley in December 2002 while he was on loan with the Seagulls from first club Arsenal.

Tonight's goal could prove vital as Albion aim to reach the Premier League.

Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

Forest are going direct and Brighton still have work to do... but another long ball fizzes out for a goal kick.

Nottm Forest 1-2 Brighton

Forest pump the ball long to Dexter Blackstock. His flick on finds Eric Lichaj, but his cross is wayward.

Ninety seconds remain.

We'll have five minutes of injury time.

Brighton look like they have won it right at the death!

Anthony Knockeart bursts into the penalty area on the right and causes chaos.

The challenges come in and the ball bobbles to Steve Sidwell, who volleys into the corner.

A crucial goal in the race for automatic promotion for Brighton.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

A late chance for Forest!

Bojan Jokic's ball in from the left is flicked away by Lewis Dunk, but it falls to Robert Tesche on the edge of the area.

However he scuffs his shot well wide.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

A Brighton attack comes to nothing as a loose pass is misplaced...

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Forest put plenty of men forward for a free-kick from Danny Fox.

Matt MIlls goes down in the Albion box but the ball drifts out for a goal kick.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Brighton on the attack and Anthony Knockaert puts in a dangerous cross.

Jiri Skalak is coming in at the back post but Eric Lichaj gets a call to leave it and it goes harmlessly out.

Four minutes of normal time remain. Will there be a sting at the end?

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Meanwhile on-loan midfielder Steve Sidwell comes on for Beram Kayal for Brighton.

That's all six substitutions made. No more rolls of the dice for either manager.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Gardner does come off, to be replaced by Robert Tesche.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

We've a bit of a stoppage in play as Forest midfielder Gary Gardner gets some treatment.

He's clashed with Lewis Dunk and Liam Rosenior since the break.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Another good Forest break, again Henri Lansbury at the heart of it,

His ball pushes Ben Osborn a bit wide on the left but his cross is dug out by Lewis Dunk for a corner.

Dexter Blackstock imposes himself in the air again and heads narrowly wide. That was almost a second goal for the substitute.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Forest are causing the visitors plenty of problems with crisp passing.

Their performance since the break has been far better.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Great save by Dorus de Vries!

It's all Anthony Knockaert, as he works an opening and curls a left-footed shot towards the bottom corner and the Forest stopper has to be at full stretch to turn it behind.

From the resulting corner, Tomer Hemed puts a header narrowly wide. That was another golden chance.

Hemed header wide for Brighton. 15 to go and it's 1-1 #nffc

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Brighton defender Lewis Dunk tangles with Dexter Blackstock in the Albion area, promoting calls for a penalty from the Trent End.

Referee Andy Davies is not interested.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

James Wilson collects the ball midway inside the Forest half, turns and unleashes a left-footed shot at goal.

But his effort goes just wide.

Both sides are threatening at the City Ground. There could well be a winner either way tonight.

73' #NFFC 1-1 Brighton: The tempo is getting quicker in this game as James Wilson rifles one inches wide of the post from range.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Big, big chance for Forest.

Dexter Blackstock robs Connor Goldson and finds Henri Lansbury, who bursts into the Albion area.

Lansbury looks to lift it over the onrushing David Stockdale but the former Arsenal man puts too much on his shot and it goes over the bar.

Let-off for Brighton.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Both sides make changes.

Ryan Mendes has come on for David Vaughan in the Forest midfield while Anthony Knockaert replaces fellow winger Jamie Murphy for the visitors.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Lewis Dunk becomes the first Albion player into the book for a rash challenge on Gary Gardener.

The Brighton centre-back was inside the centre-circle and rather lashed out needlessly.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Forest are finding space between the Brighton lines.

David Vaughan puts in a ball from the left hand side and David Stockdale makes a bit of a meal while gathering it.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Forest put in a really good passage of passing play in midfield, but just can't create an opening.

The home side are looking sharper.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Brighton make their first change, with on-loan striker James Wilson coming on for Kazenga LuaLua.

Jamie Murphy will move out wide, with Wilson in a central position alongside Hemed.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Forest midfielder David Vaughan goes into the book for a late challenge on Dale Stephens.

Both were contesting for a bouncing ball and the Welshman just mis-timed his challenge slightly.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Another Brighton corner, another effort on goal.

This one is a deep delivery from Jiri Skalak. Lewis Dunk wrestles with Matt Mills but can't get any leverage and the ball flicks off his head and well wide of Dorus de Vries' goal.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

The game has really opened up now.

After Dale Stephens has a shot from the edge of the area, Forest counter.

However Gary Gardner decides to shoot from range and skews his effort well wide.

Matt Mills and Tomer Hemed

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Brighton work another chance down the right as Beram Kayal flicks on Bruno's cross.

Tomer Hemed puts in an acrobatic volley, but can't get enough power on his shot and Dorus de Vries gathers comfortably.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

Jamie Murphy forces another corner for Brighton, to be taken by Jiri Skalak.

There's a tussle of bodies in the penalty area, but referee Andy Davies blows for a foul by Albion defender Lewis Dunk.

Nottm Forest 1-1 Brighton

That has certainly livened proceedings up.

Albion come forward again but a testing cross from the right is just about dealt with by Eric Lichaj.

Forest have more purpose about them in this second period. How will the Seagulls respond?

GOAL (Blackstock)

Dexter Blackstock

Forest are level and it's the substitute who's got it from another set piece.

Henri Lansbury's deep free-kick from the left flank loops in and Dexter Blackstock rises high, unchallenged, and flicks the ball inside the far post.

Albion keeper David Stockdale wasn't able to get near that. The Forest fans at the City Ground have found their voice.

It's Dexter Blackstock with a glancing header from Lansbury's free-kick! 1-1 #nffc

Nottm Forest 0-1 Brighton

Forest midfielder David Vaughan finds Ben Osborn on the left-hand side and the winger cuts inside and shoots.

However his effort has the sting taken out of it by Bruno and is straight at Stockdale.

A bright start to the second period by the home side.

Nottm Forest 0-1 Brighton

Jamie Murphy has an early chance to run at the Forest defence but David Vaughan gets a toe in to halt him.

From the resulting counter-attack, Henri Lansbury tries another long-range shot but it loops up off a defender into the arms of David Stockdale.
