Man City 4-0 Stoke

Jimmy Armfield

Ex-England captain at the Etihad Stadium for BBC Radio 5 live

"I don’t think Manuel Pellegrini would have dreamt it would be as comfortable as this. His team have played okay and won 4-0.

"It really is the perfect lift-off ahead of the big game next week."

Next for Stoke is a home game with struggling Sunderland next Saturday.

Fair to say Mark Hughes will be working on his defenders on the training pitch before then.

Man City 4-0 Stoke

Arsenal will go back above Manchester City into third spot in the table if they win at Sunderland on Sunday.

But this has been a thoroughly professional job by Manuel Pellegrini's side as the fourth official indicates four additional minutes.

Yaya Toure is clearly injured but he is carrying on for the final few minutes.Stoke are effectively playing against 10 men.

Concerned looks on the Manchester City bench as Manuel Pellegrini has used all his substitutes.

Will City be finishing the game with 10 men?

Alan Ferguson: Mark Hughes will be delighted that his Stoke team are consistent. Another game. Another 4 goals conceded.

Man City 4-0 Stoke

Ten minutes to go.

Stoke cannot say they have had chances - particularly at the start of the second half.

But Mark Hughes's side have been unable to match the quality of Manchester City's finishing.

Jimmy Armfield

Ex-England captain at the Etihad Stadium for BBC Radio 5 live

"Iheanacho took the goal well. We know all about his talent. It was Bony who made that with the pass but Iheanacho has proved a point once again when he gets a chance.

"He has something that Rashford has - pace. It comes at the right time and took him past the Stoke defenders."

Kelechi Iheanacho

Terrific finish by the teenager Kelechi Iheanacho after being released by substitute Wilfried Bony.

He shows maturity beyond his 19 years to keep his composure and round the keeper to slot home.

Lovely goal. Party atmosphere at the Etihad.

SUBSTITUTION

Man City 3-0 Stoke

Manchester City's fans have found their voices.

Their team is coasting to three points and third place in the Premier League table above Arsenal.

"That was a good move by Man City. It started in midfield and then a lovely overlap from Zabaleta and he pulled it back perfectly and Iheanacho just steered it into the empty net."

Just when it looked like Stoke were coming back into this...

Kelechi Iheanacho surely seals the points for Manchester City with a cool finish in front of goal after a terrific run and pass by Pablo Zabaleta.

GREAT SAVE!

Man City 2-0 Stoke

Cristiano Ronaldo will fancy his chances of another hat-trick whe he sees a replay of this game. City are giving the ball away in dangerous areas.

Marko Arnautovic pounces on another error by the hosts inside the area and his fiercely struck effort from an angle forces a fine save from Joe Hart.

"It was a good header from Diouf, almost too good. He got so much power on it, it just lacked the direction because Hart would never have got that."

CLOSE!

Man City 2-0 Stoke

Stoke haven't given up on this.

Phil Bardsley whips in a dangerous cross which is just about hacked away for a corner. In it comes and Mame Biram Diouf heads just wide.

Manchester City haven't started since the interval. Stoke have wasted two great chances.

Amazing Aguero. 1 goal off Harry Kane and Aguero was injured for 2 months of the season.

"It was a good run by Arnautovic and he put it across the six yard box and I don’t know what Joselu has done with it. He has got it high and wide."

CLOSE!

Man City 2-0 Stoke

Great chance for Stoke.

Marko Arnautovic is flying down the wing and places a great crosses for Joselu but the Spaniard screws the ball horribly wide from close range.

City's defence was caught out badly there. The Real Madrid scout will be making notes about that.

KICK-OFF

Man City 2-0 Stoke

Stoke have changed their keeper at the start of the second half.

Apparently, 40-year-old keeper Shay Given suffered a groin problem in the first half and has been replaced by 23-year-old Jakob Haugaard.

Man City 2-0 Stoke

Any hope for Stoke whatsoever?

The teams are on their way out and there's a big substitution coming up for the visitors.

7 - Sergio Aguero has now scored seven goals in his last five Premier League games. Potent.

"Good half for Man City in terms of the scoreline. I thought Stoke looked dangerous and could have nicked a goal but City have punished them in the last few minutes."

PENALTY TO MAN CITY

Man City 1-0 Stoke

A lunge by Ryan Shawcross on Kelechi Iheanacho and Robert Madley points to the spot.

Man City 1-0 Stoke

Is there a more terrifying sight for a defender than Sergio Aguero powering at full speed into the penalty area?

Stoke's defenders back off but Aguero loses his footing, just as he is about to shoot.

Man City 1-0 Stoke

Fernando's goal has lifted the hosts - and the crowd.

It's been a bit of a slog so far for Manchester City, who are far from their best but Stoke face a long, hard battle to get back into this.

Man City 1-0 Stoke

Jimmy Armfield

Ex-England captain at the Etihad Stadium for BBC Radio 5 live

"City have never really threatened but there you go. It was a simple ball and Fernando took a run at it and a nice glancing headed went inside the far post.

"It gives the City fans a bit of relief more than anything else."

GOAL - Man City 1-0 Stoke

Fernando

That's more like it.

Stoke fall asleep at a corner and Fernando gets the better of Geoff Cameron to place a glancing header beyond Shay Given.

Mark Hughes will be furious. His players had defended so well up to that point.

Jimmy Armfield

"Mark Hughes has given City a problem here. Normally their link play is so good but City just can’t link it together and every time Aguero gets the ball there are two or three players around him."

Man City 0-0 Stoke

The Manchester City fans who opted to swerve this game ahead of Real Madrid are the winners so far.

Their team is showing little urgency and passing from both sides has been woeful.

Man City 0-0 Stoke

Jimmy Armfield

Ex-England captain at the Etihad Stadium for BBC Radio 5 live

"That was a good effort from Imbula. Hart may have got to it but he is making Toure work hard in midfield.

"Stoke have had the better chances and defensively have done well."
