FT: Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Well that's your lot for this match.

Darren Bent, a man barely involved for Derby this season, bagged the goal that keeps the play-off race slightly interesting.

Keep your eye on the BBC Sport website for all your latest football news and live scores, and until next time, goodbye.

FT: Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

So here's what it does to the Championship play-off picture. If Cardiff lose against Bolton today, Sheffield Wednesday will be confirmed as the final team in the play-offs.

If Cardiff win, that could make next week's match between the two sides very interesting.

FT: Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby goalscorer Darren Bent on Sky Sports: "For me personally it's been hard but the boys have been fantastic.

"You don't want to lose any games and it's all about momentum going into the play-offs."

Darren Bent's goal was only his third of the season.

FT: Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday goalscorer Barry Bannan on Sky Sports: "It was a good game, two good teams going head-to-head and I think a draw is a fair result.

"I've missed a lot of chances this season and I was saying before the game I was due a goal and luckily I got it."

FULL-TIME

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby midfielder Craig Bryson shows superb technique to volley towards goal, but his effort is straight at Keiren Westwood and that's the final action of a quite entertaining second half.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Of course, another yellow card...

This time it's Sheffield Wednesday right-back Daniel Pudil for hauling down Cyrus Christie.

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

The ball has barely left the middle of the park in this injury time, can we find a winner in the extra five minutes?

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

How long does Nick Blackman want? Johnny Russell's cross into the area finds the Derby substitute, but he takes an age to decide what he wants to do, and Keiren Westwood comes out of his goal to clear the danger.

Derby have had their chances, that's for sure.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Another yellow card. This game is getting a little silly now. Sheffield Wednesday winger Jeremy Helan has only been on the pitch a few minutes but he dives into a challenge and Lee Mason has no option but to show a yellow.

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby allow a corner to go all the way across their penalty area and it finds Sheffield Wednesday captain Glenn Loovens, but he skies one over the bar.

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday make their final change as Fernando Forestieri, on a yellow card, is brought off in place of Jeremy Helan. Are the Owls happy to settle for a point?

GOAL (Bent)

Derby 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Well that's what you call an instant impact! Barely a minute after coming onto the pitch, Darren Bent finds the back of the net.

It comes after Johnny Russell evades three pretty weak challenges on the left and crosses the ball into the back post, where Bent nods past Keiren Westwood for his third goal of the season.

You can hear the cheers in south Wales from here.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

I'm using this yellow card function quite a bit. Now Derby midfielder Jacob Butterfield goes into the book for a late tackle.

Butterfield is immediately taken off by Darren Wassall along with Tom Ince, with Darren Bent and Nick Blackman coming on. Definite change of shape coming up here.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Fernando Forestieri, who walked into the ground today wearing a shirt making fun of his recent spate of receiving cards from referees, gets a card from today's referee Lee Mason.

The Sheffield Wednesday striker pulls back Richard Keogh in the Derby half and is cautioned. Needless.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

A fourth booking for Derby as Lucas Joao skips past Richard Keogh, and the Rams defender brings him down on the left side of the area.

From the resulting free-kick, Fernando Forestieri curls one towards goal when everyone was expecting a cross and clips the top of the bar.

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Will Hughes had not started a game for Derby since the opening day of the season, and he can't last the 90 minutes as he is replaced by Jamie Hanson.

Meanwhile, one I missed earlier, Derby striker Chris Martin was booked for a challenge on Glenn Loovens. I have no idea if it was deserved or not.

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Gary Hooper, who took a kick when playing that ball back to Barry Bannan, is replaced by big man Lucas Joao in the Sheffield Wednesday front line.

Could they be bringing him on to help hold up play?

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Why is it that goals which hit the underside of the bar before going in always look better than just your average goal?

If the score stays the same, Sheffield Wednesday would move nine points clear of Cardiff, who have only three games left to play and a side the Owls have a superior goal difference over.

GOAL (Bannan)

Derby 0-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Barry Bannan has put Sheffield Wednesday on the verge of securing a play-off place with an absolute beauty of a goal.

The midfielder plays a one-two with Gary Hooper before curling in a fine effort from 30 yards, which hits the underside of the bar before going over the line.

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday are making a change and Marco Matias, scorer of the Football League's goal of the year for his strike against Leeds, comes on in place of Aiden McGeady, who quite frankly has barely been involved.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Well I asked for more goal threats in this half, and I've certainly got it. Derby have looked the more likely to score, and could rue those missed opportunities against a side that don't like giving up chances easily.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby break again and Tom Ince finds space on the left to play a low ball in to the area, but Barry Bannan slides in to take it away from Chris Martin.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby are all over Sheffield Wednesday at the moment. This time Marcus Olsson plays a ball into the area that goalkeeper Keiren Westwood needs to catch before Johnny Russell gets there at the back post.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby really should be ahead in this match now. Cyrus Christie plays the ball through to Johnny Russell, who was in an offside position but the flag stayed down, and when one-on-one with Keiren Westwood, can only hit the ball against the keeper.

Then Christie recycles the ball and finds Chris Martin, who smashes well over the bar.

That should have been 1-0.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Craig Bryson has the best chance of the match so far as Cyrus Christie pulls the ball back to him on the edge of the box, but the Derby midfielder can't get his shot into one of the corners and Keiren Westwood saves before the ball is cleared.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Huge call for a penalty for Derby as Alex Lopez challenges Rams right-back Cyrus Christie in the area, but Lee Mason says no. That goes in the 'seen them given' category.

Meanwhile, Mason goes back to book Kieran Lee for a foul on Craig Bryson in the build up.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have certainly bossed the early stages of this half, and they work the ball from left to right before Aiden McGeady has a strike blocked by Will Hughes.

Derby are pinned into their own half here.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday forward Fernando Forestieri forces Scott Carson into a fine save with a good shot with his weaker left foot.

That was the first real test for the Derby keeper today.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Craig Bryson is the second Derby player to receive a yellow card from Lee Mason today, after a late tackle on Alex Lopez.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby midfielder Will Hughes has the first effort of the second half, turning a couple of defenders before his strike towards goal fails to trouble the goalkeeper.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

The teams are back out at the iPro Stadium and Sheffield Wednesday get us back under way.

We've also just seen some pictures of former Owls defender Reda Johnson in the away end wearing his ex-team's colours and posing for pictures.

Still to come...

Middlesbrough can go back to the top of the Championship if they record a victory over Ipswich while Brighton can keep up the pace on the automatic promotion places with a win over already-relegated Charlton. At the bottom, MK Dons will be relegated if they fail to beat Brentford at home.

In League One, leaders Wigan could all-but confirm their immediate return to the Championship if they beat Southend and Walsall lose at play-off rivals Bradford City. At the bottom Colchester must beat second-placed Burton to have any chance of keeping their survival hopes alive. Doncaster almost certainly need to beat Coventry and there's a huge derby between 21st Blackpool and 19th Fleetwood.

York City will be relegated from the Football League if they lose at promotion-chasing Accrington while Oxford, Plymouth and Bristol Rovers could all end the day as high as second depending on how results go.

Derby v Sheff Wed

It says a lot about the half of football when one of the most memorable parts of it was a clash of heads between Marcus Olsson and Fernando Forestieri...

Let's hope we get some serious threats to a goal in the second half.

HT: Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

A draw could be enough for Sheffield Wednesday to secure their play-off place today. All they need to do is better Cardiff's result against bottom club Bolton.

If the Owls don't do it today, they'll have another chance next week, when they face.... Yeah, you guessed it: Cardiff.

HALF-TIME

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

'Ohhhh!' goes the home crowd. Tom Ince just curls the free-kick over the bar and that is the final action of a half without many goal threats.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Craig Bryson is felled on the edge of the Sheffield Wednesday area by Alex Lopez. Can Derby take advantage of a very dangerous position and end the half on a very positive note?

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Derby have a succession of corners, but none of them come to anything. That's basically been the story of this half. Lots of 'nearly' opportunities.

We've got four minutes of added on time for that earlier clash of heads between Marcus Olsson and Fernando Forestieri.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

I spoke too soon about no action. Derby forward Tom Ince turns in the area and finds Johnny Russell, but his cross into the danger zone cannot find anyone to smash in into the open goal, with keeper Keiren Westwood off his line.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

If you hadn't realised, today is St George's Day, so without much going on on the pitch, here's a picture of a ram with a couple of flags for no reason.

Derby 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Slight penalty shout for Derby when Johnny Russell goes down under a challenge from an Owls defender, who had his hand on the Rams player.

However, Russell was already slipping over and the hand on him was not enough to make him go down. It would have been a harsh one.
