Goodnight. Do sleep tight.

FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Anyway, Brighton boss Chris Hughton and Aston Villa's Steve Bruce can both sleep soundly (see 2156). Their teams drew 1-1 at the Amex tonight and both of them are safe in their jobs.

Football is full of surprises but if one of them gets their marching orders then we have gone way beyond surprise.

Here's the link to the match report.

Goodnight. Thanks for reading.

Where are the most dangerous places to manage?

FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Before we wrap thing up for the night, we have a bit of interesting regional reading for you.

Where are the most dangerous places in England to manage? Cue lightning crash, the hoot of an owl, rustling of some branches and a door that opens with a creak...

Anyway, it turns out that Charlton is a horror destination and Nottingham is where managers can enjoy all sorts of ways of getting sacked.

The story even comes with the management map of DOOM! (not it's actual name... but it should be).

* Charlton (7), Leeds and Leyton Orient (both 6) lead the list of clubs that have sacked the most managers, with Nottingham Forest and Notts County both dismissing five

REACTION

FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Brighton's goalscorer Glenn Murray told Sky Sports: "They are a quality side. They put us under pressure in the second half and we are happy to come out with a point. We had to work hard."

REACTION

FT: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

It was hardly a classic but the second half provided a more than decent match.

Aston Villa's Albert Adomah told Sky Sports: "I feel we deserved a draw. The new gaffer has come in and everything has changed. We are buzzing. It was a shame we couldn’t get the winning goal."

FULL-TIME

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

But it comes to nothing and it's honours even at the Amex.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Villa on the attack in the final minute....

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Normal time done and dusted. It's all gone a bit frantic now. Brighton's Lewis Dunk goes into the book for a late challenge. Two mins of stoppage time to play.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

No signs of the sides settling for a point here. Two minutes plus injury time to play. There won't be too much of that.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Have Brighton weathered the storm? Aston Villa keeper Pierluigi Gollini is called into some rare action as the Seagulls break forward, making a fine low save from Jamie Murphy's strike.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Albert Adomah has been at the heart of everything good about Aston Villa's attack. Jack Grealish is now bringing his talents to proceedings to share the creativity. If Villa grab a winner, it's bound to involve one of these two.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

The chances keep coming for Aston Villa, this time Jonathan Kodjia is denied by David Stockdale. The striker did not get a clean contact with his close-range header and his effort is tipped over.

SUBSTITUTION

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Anthony Knockaert has lasted 80 mins but is replaced by Oliver Norwood.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

The corners are totting up for Aston Villa now. Into double figures and each one is looking threatening. Brighton just cannot relieve the pressure.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

And again Jack Grealish almost puts Aston Villa ahead.

This time he shows some nifty skills before another curling strike is deflected wide. It really is all Villa now.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Aston Villa go close twice in a minute.

Jack Grealish curls an effort wide following a corner and Jonathan Kodjia's effort clips the top of the bar.

SUBSTITUTION

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Brighton are second best at the moment so it's time for a change. Sam Baldock is off so Jamie Murphy has the chance to make an impact.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Albert Adomah forces a decent low save from David Stockdale. Jordan Ayew and Jack Grealish, who has has just come on for Gary Gardner, are already making a difference to Aston Villa's attack.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

A shot. Not on target. But still a shot. Aston Villa's Ashley Westwood cuts in from the right but shoots well off target.

Seems there has been a change of tune for both sets of fans for a number of reasons lately.

CHANCE

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

A quick throw sees Sam Baldock turn the ball into a dangerous area but Glenn Murray cannot keep his header down.

YELLOW CARD

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

That's naughty. Ashley Westwood goes into the book for illegally halting a Brighton counter-attack, making sure Jiri Skalak is stopped from bursting forward.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

A slow burner this one. A good crowd are getting their reward now though. Things are getting lively and the game is opening up with both teams showing decent intent.

SUBSTITUTION

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Yep. Mr Agbonlahor's work is done for the night. Gabriel is replaced by Jordan Ayew.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Is Gabriel Agbonlahor coming off? He's down and receiving treatment.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

There has already been more goalmouth action in the first six minutes than there was in the first 20 of the opening half.

The mindset is much more proactive from both sides. Steve Sidwell almost benefits, but smashes a shot over the bar from a well-worked Brighton corner.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Steve Bruce and his Aston Villa players were not happy with a lunging tackle by Lewis Dunk on Ashley Westwood. Nothing given though.

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

A great start by Aston Villa show that they will not be sitting back.

Albert Adomah is twice involved on the right, playing a superb ball in behind for Ashley Westwood and then sending over a fine cross which could so easily have led to a second away goal.

KICK-OFF

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Off we go again. And it's all to play for.

Turkeys, golf clubs and big hugs

And with that mention of Ian Holloway going back to QPR, why not enjoy a few classic 'Ollie' quotes.

Bosses who went back, for better or worse

Some half-time reading for you now...

Jose Mourinho famously did it with Chelsea, Nigel Pearson crucially did it with Leicester City and Luiz Felipe Scolari even did it with Brazil.

Managers returning to a team for a second spell - some enhance their reputations greatly, but for others the phrase "never go back" could barely be more pertinent.

Ian Holloway will become the latest boss to get reacquainted with familiar surroundings when he takes charge of Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road against Norwich City on Saturday, 10 years after he left the west London club.

HALF-TIME

Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

It was all going so well for Aston Villa until the final few seconds. But Glenn Murray's intervention has changed Steve Bruce's half-time team talk.

The away side looked content to soak up pressure after Nathan Baker's header had put them ahead. Have they got the ambition to search for a winner?

GOAL: Brighton 1-1 Aston Villa

Glenn Murray

Some wonderful interplay between Anthony Knockaert and Glenn Murray gives Murray some time and he makes the most of it, fizzing a brilliant shot into the far corner from 25 yards.

Murray's 10th goal of the season comes at a perfect time to lift a below-par Brighton. And he won't have scored a better goal in that ten.

And that all came on the counter-attack after Villa threatened at the other end moments earlier.

Brighton 0-1 Aston Villa

...talking of which - here's another view of the key moment from the game so far. David Stockdale got a hand to Nathan Baker's effort but it was too well directed for the Brighton goalkeeper.

Albert Adomah sends in another curling free-kick, but this time Brighton clear that lines.

If anything, that was a better delivery than the one that led to the goal.

Brighton 0-1 Aston Villa

Glenn Murray has a wild swipe at a volley from a long cross from left to right, but slices it well wide.

That would have been some goal. About a one in a million chance of it going in though.
