Goodbye

We probably didn't see that coming after a cagey opening 45 minutes. Celtic produce an impressive second-half display to secure victory at Firhill and move 11 points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers believes his side are showing greater attacking menace as the season progresses while his Partick Thistle counterpart Alan Archibald wants his players to be more ruthless in front of goal and tighter in defence.

Read Tom English's match report from Firhill here.

Thanks for your company this evening.

We're back tomorrow to bring you coverage of five top-flight games including Ian Cathro's first competitive game as Hearts manager as they travel to Ibrox to face Rangers.

Saturday's Premiership games

  • Aberdeen v St Johnstone
  • Dundee v Ross County
  • ICT v Hamilton
  • Motherwell v Kilmarnock
  • Rangers v Hearts

Hope you can join us then. Cheers.

Partick Thistle boss Alan Archibald

Partick 1-4 Celtic

"We made it tough for ourselves. You can't give good sides goals. We struggled with the basics tonight; we gave them goals.

"We offered very little in the final third and that's very disappointing. We didn't have that belief. We've got to keep believing and we're not adrift [at the foot of the Premiership table]."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers

Partick Thistle 1-4 Celtic

"An outstanding result for us. I don't think Partick had conceded two goals in a game (before tonight) The first half was in fits and starts but we got a good goal [through Stuart Armstrong] and changed a couple of things at half time to help us in the build-up."

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers hailed an "outstanding" result for Celtic

"I can see the development: the relationship between the training and the games. We've got goals in the team and we're aggressive when we attack.

"The team's maturing, staying composed and calm under pressure."

At the moment Celtic are on course to win the title by 42 points with a goal difference of +84. This is not a competition, it's a coronation.

Not everyone is impressed with Celtic or the game this evening....

Another one for Leigh Griffiths? No, the pint-sized Celtic striker, with legs going like an excitable hamster's on a wheel, speeds into the Partick penalty area but his shot finds the side-netting.

GOAL Partick 1-4 Celtic (McGregor)

The visitors have stepped it up a gear and it's grim viewing for the hosts. Moments after Ade Azeez's Platoon moment, Celtic hit on the counter as Emilio Izaguirre flicks a pitching wedge of a cross back into the path of the onrushing Callum McGregor, and the midfielder fires a dart beyond Tomas Cerny.

Another through ball makes uncomfortable viewing for Celtic's defence. Substitute Ade Azeez is onto it in a flash but a theatrical tumble as Craig Gordon comes out to block sees the Partick man booked by whistler Craig Thomson.

GREAT SAVE!

Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

Tomas Cerny, what a save! Celtic carve open the Partick defence with a flowing move as Gamboa's cross tees up substitute Dembele but the French striker sees his rasping drive superbly pushed away by Cerny.

Another couple of substutions: Azeez replaces Doolan for the hosts and Dembele trots on for Roberts.

Onside or offside? Partick had free headers at both goals so good news at last for all other teams! Pump it in the box and discover Celtics weakness!

Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

While the first half was nip and tuck with space on the ball at a premium, the second has ushered in wide-open encounter with chances aplenty. Three goals since the break with the promise of a few more. Can Partick Thistle test Celtic again with another set piece or will the visitors extend their lead?

CLOSE!

Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

Patrick Roberts spurns a glorious chance to extend Celtic's lead as he balloons a shot high over the bar.

A minute later and Tomas Cerny denies Leigh Griffiths with a brilliant instinctive save.

What a game we have now!

Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

Partick Thistle have pulled another one back... no!

A huge let-off for the snoozing Celtic defence as Sean Welsh bullets a header home from a set piece but is flagged offside.

Celtic's rearguard looking about as secure as a man with a tray of drinks heading back to his seat on the ferry to Arran.

Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

BBC Sportsound pundits Pat Bonner and Steven Thompson are having a pop at Celtic's defending for the Partick Thistle goal.

"Shocking," according to the bold Pat. Hope springs eternal for the hosts; if they can arrow a few more high balls into Celtic's penalty area...

A blizzard of substitutions to bring you up to date with: Edwards and Lawless are on for Erskine and Amoo for the hosts.

For Celtic, Christie and McGregor have replaced Rogic and Mackay-Steven.

GOAL Partick 1-3 Celtic (Lindsay)

The hosts pull a goal back with a move of stunning simplicity. Free kick from Sean Welsh played into the box and the unmarked Liam Lindsay whose header sails over Craig Gordon and into the net. Game on?

Partick Thistle 0-3 Celtic

Celtic are now one goal away from netting 70 in all competitions this season. The Partick Thistle bench look deep in thought as they think of a way to get back into this game. That quickfire two goals immediately after the break may have taken the game away from them and the opportunity to move alongside sixth-placed Kilmarnock.

GOAL Partick 0-3 Celtic (Griffiths)

A nightmare for the Partick defence; delight for Celtic's front-line. High pressing from the visitors sees Partick cough up possession and Leigh Griffiths is onto the ball in a flash. The striker rolls the back-tracking defence before thundering a shot past Tomas Cerny.

GOAL Partick 0-2 Celtic (Armstrong)

The visitors are in the mood to add to their tally and they do so as Leigh Griffiths plays a short free kick to Stuart Armstrong and the midfielder arrows a shot into the bottom corner for his and his side's second.

Partick Thistle keeper Tomas Cerny goes down in installments as he attempts to save.

KICK-OFF

Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

We're back under way at Firhill. No changes for either side...

Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Unless Partick Thistle can produce a bit of magic after the ubiquitous half-time orange slices then Celtic will extend their lead at the top of the table to 11 points. Are there more goals in this game? Can Thistle emulate Motherwell last week and give Craig Gordon and the Celtic defence something to think about?

Celtic midfield trio pivotal to their success

Partick Thistle 0-1 Celtic

Steven Thompson

Former Scotland striker on BBC Sportsound

The three of them in midfield compliment each other so well: Stuart Armstrong with his pace and his energy, Scott Brown with his aggression and his leadership, and Tom Rogic with his craft and creativity.

HALF-TIME Partick 0-1 Celtic

Stuart Armstrong's close-range strike separates the sides at the break. Neither Partick or Celtic are firing on all cylinders but the visitors showed more attacking intent as the first half wore on.

Can Alan Archibald and his troops finds a way back into this game?

Stuart Armstrong's strike has put fresh wind in the visitors' sails. On-loan Manchester City winger Patrick Roberts slaloms through a couple of Partick challenges before being swallowed up by the home defence.

Up until they scored, Celtic have been playing too deep and Brendan Rodgers will want them further up the pitch and dominating in the opponents' half.

GOAL Partick 0-1 Celtic (Armstrong)

Celtic draw first blood as skipper Scott Brown plays in Leigh Griffiths down the left. The striker whips in a dangerous low cross which evades the statuesque Partick Thistle defence but not Stuart Armstrong who stabs the ball home beyond the helpless Tomas Cerny.
