It was a pleasure Diego.

Leicester gave it their all but it wasn't to be, while Real Madrid got a helping hand from a few decisions from the officials - and their main man Cristiano Ronaldo.

See you all tomorrow for more of the same?

'Almost a pleasure'

Leicester 1-1 Atletico Madrid (Agg: 1-2)

"I'm full of emotion and pride at the performance of my team," said Diego Simeone.

"I also have to say, what a great performance from our opponents. It was almost a pleasure to compete against them."

Do Bayern need a rebuild?

These two are off anyway...

The average age of Bayern’s starting line-up in this game was 30 years and 116 days, making it their oldest in Champions League history.

Pat Nevin

Ex-Chelsea winger on BBC Radio 5 live

It was a fantastic tie over two legs but the referee killed it with the sending off and the decision for Ronaldo's goal.

I've wanted video refereeing since I was playing, and that wasn't yesterday!

50 shots!

Real Madrid 4-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 6-3)

There were 50 shots in that game! 30 for Real, 20 for Bayern.

Real Madrid 4-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 6-3)

A reminder that no team has retained the Champions League since it became the Champions League.

Can Real do it?

FULL-TIME

Real Madrid 4-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 6-3)

Real ride their luck but Cristiano Ronaldo scores yet another hat-trick as the Spanish giants reach their seventh straight Champions League semi-final.

Real Madrid 4-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 6-3)

Should be another big night in Madrid, both sides through to the last four.

Mats Hummels flicks a header wide for Bayern Munich as they continue to go for a goal or two. Are Real Madrid favourites for another crown as it stands?

'I've told the players that they should want more of this'

Leicester City boss Craig Shakespeare speaking to BT Sport:

We needed to leave everything out there. Second half, even first half we played really well. I had to make the change earlier than I thought, but we had them rattled with the effort and commitment we showed. It's no discredit to lose to a team of that calibre.

The momentum was with us after Vardy's goal and we needed that second one when the opportunity came but it just wasn't to be.

The whole club, from the supporters to the players to the owners can be immensely proud, but I've just said to the players that they should want more of this and they've agreed that that's what they want.

Real Madrid 4-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 6-3)

A 6-3 aggregate win does not tell the whole story but it's another feather in the managerial cap of Zinedine Zidane, who is not doing bad for a stand-in.

Asensio pours salt on the wound

Real Madrid 4-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 6-3)

It's another solo run, this time from sub Marco Asensio who breezes past Mats Hummels, into the area and then fires into the bottom corner.

He didn't read the memo about squaring it for a Cristiano Ronaldo tap in.

Real Madrid 3-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 5-3)

Bayern Munich will wonder how this one has got away from them. At least two shocking decisions have gone against them and they look shattered now.

Your reaction to Leicester's Champions League exit

Ronaldo wraps it up

Real Madrid 3-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 5-3)

That one is all about Marcelo! The left-back piles through a tired Bayern back four single handedly, into the area and then squaring it for Cristiano Ronaldo to tap in.

I think he was just about onside...

GOAL - Real Madrid 3-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 5-3)

Cristiano Ronaldo (hat-trick)

100 Champions League goals! A perfect hat-trick...

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 4-3)

Ronaldo has scored nine of Real Madrid's last 10 goals in Champions League quarter finals.

George Powell: Arguably handball and definitely offside. Other than that, great goal from Ronaldo..

Christiaan Norde: Pleaaase, please bring video refereeing in this game. Champions League is ruined this year

Neil: And another very dodgy decision goes against Munich

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 4-3)

Cristiano Ronaldo has 99 Champions League goals. Phenomenal.

'A phenomenal story'

Leicester 1-1 Atletico Madrid (Agg: 1-2)

Former Leicester manager Martin O'Neill on BT Sport: "It's an extraordinary story, it's not a fluke, you can't fluke winning the league. Then to carry this on and win their group and knock out Sevilla before giving Atletico Madrid a real fright, it's an incredible run, phenomenal."

You cannot argue with the man's stats. He scores goals in big games, even if he's not the same sort of player he once was.

Paul: Unbelieveble - More terrible officiating and now Real Madrid lead on a clearly offside goal. Shocking

Fabian: Take a bow CR7. He always raises up to the big occassion. Ronaldo for ballon do'r No.5. Hala Madrid

Josh Earl: Absolutely inexcusable officiating once again. Bayern so hard done by. But isn't it just always Ronaldo? Big game player!!

HALF-TIME in Extra Time

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 4-3)

Bayern must score again. But if they do, they would be through on away goals...

Fed up!

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 4-3)

Predatory - but offside

Real Madrid 2-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 4-3)

Bayern Munich get no luck. Cristiano Ronaldo is offside when he takes a cross from Sergio Ramos down on his chest and smashes a left-footed shot past Manuel Neuer and into the net.

A great finish, but clearly offside.

Cristiano Ronaldo

He does it again!

'We have unfinished business'

Leicester 1-1 Atletico Madrid (Agg: 1-2)

Leicester City

Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, speaking to BT Sport: "We absolutely gave it our all, especially in the second half. They made a lot of blocks on the line.

"We were in the ascendancy. We made a tactical change with Leo (Ulloa) on to give an aerial threat. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. But we gave it our all and left it all out on the pitch.

"On another day some could have gone in. But we can be proud.

"We knew it was going to be hard. Every game so far has been the same. From the display you've seen it was a fantastic effort

"We have some unfinished business in the Premier League. That was a new experience for a lot of the lads and we have given it our all.

"The fans have got us through the 90 minutes."

Jeremiah Kariuki: Looks like the game has just began between Real and Bayern! Swinging from one end to the other! Entertaining

Scott Wilcox: Really looks like Uefa really want a Real Madrid vs Barcelona final with these refereeing performances

Dennis Ethan: All I want is Bayern going through. I can't stand Real Madrid

YELLOW CARD

Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 3-3)

Arjen Robben is booked for swearing at the linesman. He still carries a huge threat, he's been brilliant so far in this period of extra time.

GREAT SAVE!

Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 3-3)

Great game. Both sides going for the win as now sub Marco Asensio hits a low shot from 20 yards, it's sneaking into the near post but Manuel Neuer gets down to push it away.

Cristiano Ronaldo is then close to meeting a through ball and then toes a shot wide.

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 3-3)

Cracking cup tie this! Casemiro wants a penalty at one end before Bayern counter, Arjen Robben drives through the middle, he has a man out wide, send him, SEND HIM!

He does, eventually, play Douglas Costa in but he shanks one wide.

Tom Dodd: The last time a side progressed from a knockout tie after having someone sent off in both legs? #FCBayern unbelievable tonight

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 3-3)

Cristiano Ronaldo curls one on goal from 25 yards, an easy save for Manuel Neuer and then it's fired wide by Marcelo.

Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 3-3)

We've had two all Madrid finals in the past three years. Are we on for another? The home crowd are jeering the men in white at the moment as they seem unsure of how to deal with having a extra man.

Real Madrid 1-2 Bayern Munich (Agg: 3-3)

Bayern, down to 10, are basically playing 4-4-1 with Thomas Muller up front on his own.

The decision to send off Arturo Vidal for a clean sliding tackle could end up ruining Bayern's chances. But they have started extra time well.

Jeremiah Kariuki: End of the good run for Leicester on the Champions League campaign! End of the road! Time to save their PL stand!

Josh Gribby: At least the debate is now settled. Leicester's achievements not quite on the level of their neighbours Forest

Leicester 1-1 Atletico Madrid (Agg: 1-2)

Relegation to the last eight in Europe. Quite the tale to tell.

Now they've got a taste for it will Leicester ever have the Champions League again?
