Goodbye

Over to you Barcelona. The champions of Spain not only trail Real Madrid by six points but they face a tricky match away to fourth-placed Villarreal (19:45 GMT) on Sunday.

We'll be back to bring you live text commentary of that match. Until then.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Will Real Madrid go a whole year without losing a game? The last team to beat Zinedine Zidane's side were Wolfsburg in the Champions League on 6 April 2016.

FULL-TIME - Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Men against boys. Ruthless Real equal Barcelona's Spanish record of 39 games unbeaten in all competitions as they stretch their lead at the top of La Liga to six points.

GREAT SAVE!

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Guillermo Ochoa saves with his feet to keep out Cristiano Ronaldo. Granada would be in an even bigger hole without their keeper, who has made some decent stops at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Some Real fans are making an early exit content in the knowledge their team is going six points clear at the top of La Liga.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Real want six - and they almost get another goal as James Rodriguez tests the keeper from the tightest of angles after some great trickery from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

You have to fear for Granada's future in La Liga. They've won just once this season and, on this evidence, look like a team heading for relegation. They've really let themselves down here. No fight, no spirit, no idea.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

After scoring four times in 19 devastating first half minutes, Real have eased off somewhat. Early predictions of the La Liga leaders notching double figures now appear unlikely with around 13 minutes left.

YELLOW CARD

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Franck Tabanou somehow escapes with a yellow card after hacking at Dani Carvajal not once but twice. Real's fans are not happy and make their feelings know towards Granada's on-loan man from Swansea.

CLOSE!

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Free-kick to Real Madrid 25 yards out. Cristiano Ronaldo and James Rodriguez are standing over the ball having a conversation. Up steps Rodriguez who sends it just over the bar.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Real's third and final change sees Marcelo receive a standing ovation as he makes way for Fabio Coentrao.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Another Real change coming up as Zinedine Zidane's thoughts turn to Thursday's Copa del Rey tie with Sevilla.

Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Real Madrid's fans are in fine voice. And why not? Their team is on a different planet. Cristiano Ronaldo bursts forward before losing control inside the area after a challenge. He wants a penalty but the referee is not interested. Ronaldo will be disappointed he only has one of Real's five goals.

GOAL - Real Madrid 5-0 Granada

Casemiro

Bang! Real are showing no mercy and increase their lead with more than half an hour remaining.

Substitute James Rodriguez arrows in an excellent free-kick which drops at the feet of Casemiro to tap in from two yards out.

Easy.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Zinedine Zidane has just celebrated his first anniversary as Real boss. This is not a bad way to bring it up but he will not be happy until he has his hands on the La Liga trophy. There's an awful long way to go in the race for the title but Real are in rampant form and showing little sign of slipping up.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

We've gone almost 25 minutes without a goal. What is wrong with Real Madrid?!

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Another chance for Isco to complete his hat-trick but he heads wide after more abject defending. It's Isco's last action as Zinedine Zidane makes his second change. The midfielder is replaced by Marco Asensio.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Will Real sit back on their four-goal cushion? Not a chance. The second half is two minutes old when Karim Benzema forces another save from Guillermo Ochoa. The Granada keeper is the busiest man on the pitch by a country mile. You can feel his pain.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Real Madrid have made a change. The bad news for Granada is they have replaced one world-class player with another as Toni Kroos makes way for James Rodriguez.

KICK-OFF

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Eight? Nine? TEN?

There's only one question Real Madrid fans are asking: How many will their team finish up with?

We're back under way in the Spanish capital.

Sounds like Gareth Bale is enjoying this. Imagine the damage if he was fit and playing.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

I wonder what Michael Owen is making of this. He's in the VIP seats at the Bernabeu. He was involved in a few one-sided games during his career but even Owen must be surprised at how woeful Granada have been.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

It's just over 12 months ago that Real hammered Rayo Vallecano 10-2 in La Liga. You wouldn't rule them out notching double figures again.

John McEnerney: Real could hit this lot for 7 or 8, they look up for it.

HALF-TIME - Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Don't be surprised if Real clock up at least another four in the second half. Granada are a shambles.

YELLOW CARD

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Sergi Samper, on loan from Barcelona, is rightly cautioned after a ridiculously high challenge on Isco. Shocking challenge.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Four goals in 19 minutes has ended this as a contest. It now resembles testimonial, Real's players spraying the ball around with ease and Granada's hapless players chasing shadows.

A one-two between Benzema and Modric results in another save to deny the latter.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

I wonder what Barcelona's players are thinking? They surely must have expected Granada to make a better fist of this. The champions of Spain are set to fall six points behind Real.

GREAT SAVE!

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Isco is denied a first half hat-trick as Guillermo Ochoa makes a flying save to keep out the midfielder's fierce attempt.

Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Want to know how poor Granada are? Real's players have hardly broken sweat. This could turn out to be a cricket score. Each time the hosts attack they look like scoring. Imagine if Gareth Bale was playing?

GOAL - Real Madrid 4-0 Granada

Isco

It doesn't matter how poor the opposition is, you still have to put the ball in the back of the net. And Real are doing that very well.

Luka Modric fires in a low cross for Isco to sweep home just inside the six-yard area after more powder-puff defending.

Anyone else think Real could clock up double figures here?

GOAL - Real Madrid 3-0 Granada

Cristiano Ronaldo

This is shocking by Granada. Cristiano Ronaldo is left completely unmarked to head home Marcelo's clever cross. This game is already over. And we've not even reached the half hour mark.

Real Madrid 2-0 Granada

As it stands, Real are going six points clear at the top as well as equalling Barcelona's Spanish record of 39 games unbeaten in all competitions.

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-0 Granada

Karim Benzema

Two goals in eight minutes put Real in cruise control. Luka Modric arrows in a low shot which is palmed into the path of Karim Benzema to stab home from close range. There's a hint of offside but the goal stands.

Real Madrid 1-0 Granada

Former Real greats Ronaldo - the Brazilian one - and Luis Figo are in the crowd. They look a little bored, if I'm honest. Real are dominating but they're still playing in second gear. It's only a matter of time before a second goal.

Real Madrid 1-0 Granada

Poor Granada. This already looks like it's going to be a long afternoon for the visitors. They've hardly ventured outside their own half as Real hunt a second goal.

GOAL - Real Madrid 1-0 Granada

Isco

That didn't take long. Real Madrid's 2017 is up and running as Isco keeps his composure to find the net with a low finish from an angle inside the area after Karim Benzema's threaded pass.

Real Madrid 0-0 Granada

This is Real Madrid's 28th game of the season. The men in white look rested after their short winter break as they continue to probe Granada's defence.

The visitors are doing a decent job keeping them at bay and the game is nine minutes old before Marcelo lets fly from distance. It's over the bar.

Real Madrid 0-0 Granada

Steady start by the leaders who are spraying the ball around the Bernabeu with confidence without testing Granada keeper Guillermo Ochoa. All 11 of Granada's players are behind the ball and yet to have a sniff.

Real Madrid 0-0 Granada

This should be a comfortable win for Real. Granada did beat Sevilla 2-1 last month but they are fighting to stay in La Liga after some heavy defeats including a 7-1 drubbing at Atletico Madrid in October.
