League One and League Two

Result of the evening in the EFL must go to Southend, who are up to fifth in League One with a 4-1 win at Peterborough.

Oxford won at Charlton, while the other two games ended as draws.

League Two's bottom club Newport drew with Morecambe and are still six points from safety, while George Elokobi scored the only goal in Colchester's win over Wycombe.

As we told you, Huddersfield got a crucial win over Reading to boost their promotion hopes.

There was a great win too for Brentford, who denied Sheffield Wednesday a fifth successive Championship victory despite Fernando Forestieri's late consolation.

The local derby between Derby and Burton ended goalless, while Wigan's hopes of getting out of the bottom three were dashed by a 2-1 defeat at QPR.

  • Derby 0-0 Burton
  • Huddersfield 1-0 Reading
  • QPR 2-1 Wigan
  • Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Brentford

A crazy game in the Champions League has ended Manchester City 5-3 Monaco.

What a match.

One moment of quality

FT: Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

Rachel Brown-Finnis

Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"It wasn't about workrate or commitment, or effort tonight because both teams matched each other.

"It was about that little bit of quality in the final third and fortunately for Huddersfield it came from Philip Billing."

GOAL - Sheffield Wednesday 1-2 Brentford

Fernando Forestieri

Fernando Forestieri curls in a beauty. Too little, too late for Wednesday?

FULL-TIME: Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

A massive win for Huddersfield, closing the gap to second-placed Brighton to only four points.

Philip Billing's goal was the only difference in a tight game, with the hosts missing a first-half penalty and Reading seeing a shot turned onto the bar.

The Royals stay fourth, but they are now four points behind the Terriers having played one more game.

Huddersfield celebrate

Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

Chance for Reading...wide!

Centre-back Liam Moore is playing as a striker for Reading, and it's the defender who has chance to steal a late equaliser.

A long ball is flicked on to him in the box, but he skews his shot off target under a bit of pressure.

Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

Michael Hefele brings Liam Moore down right on the edge of the Huddersfield box.

Yann Kermorgant just can't get enough dip on the free-kick, the ball landing on the roof of the net with keeper Danny Ward rooted to the spot.

They're into added three minutes of added time now.

Owls hit the post

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Brentford

Steven Fletcher has hit the post for Sheffield Wednesday in the closing stages against Brentford, from about a yard out, after an initial header from a corner was saved by Dan Bentley.

Newport 1-1 Morecambe

A 450-mile round trip on a Tuesday evening. We salute you, hardy Morecambe fans...

Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

Huddersfield striker Nahki Wells needs a bit of treatment, and he isn't able to carry on.

Collin Quaner is brought on to replace him up front.

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Brentford

Brentford goalkeeper Dan Bentley preserves his clean sheet, keeping out Fernando Forestieri's free-kick.

Nine minutes to play. The Bees are almost there.

Top Billing

Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

Rachel Brown-Finnis

Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"There was some wonderful build-up play and when the ball was cut back, after Nahki Wells missed his kick, it made its way to Philip Billing who smashed it home.

"That is nothing more than he deserved after a brilliant display, both in attack and defensively."

Philip Billing

GOAL: Huddersfield 1-0 Reading

Philip Billing

What a huge goal this is!

Huddersfield attack down the left, and work the ball to the right-hand side of the box.

From there, it's a simple matter of picking out a cross to Philip Billing, who volleys the Terriers in front.

How do Reading respond now?

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Last 10 minutes now - can either team find a goal?

Collin Quaner is an option on the bench for Huddersfield if David Wagner wants to try a more direct approach late on.

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Brentford

Looking like one of those nights for Sheffield Wednesday, who can't break down Brentford.

They could have gone 10 points clear of seventh-placed Norwich with a win, and they still might, but it will take something ridiculous to deny Brentford three points.

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Into the last 20 minutes, and perhaps the two teams are tiring a little after a frantic first 60 minutes.

Reading have made their final change, John Swift introduced for the closing stages, with Jordon Mutch taken off.

Huddersfield on the front foot

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Rachel Brown-Finnis

Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"Reading are soaking up some pressure again now. There has been some good quality into the box from Huddersfield.

"Aaron Mooy's inswinging delivery is so difficult to deal with when he gets it right."

Derby 0-0 Burton

More than 31,000 are inside Pride Park to watch Derby v Burton.

They haven't seen any goals yet, though.

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Huddersfield win a free-kick 40 yards out, which Reading are forced to head behind for a corner.

The corner isn't a good one, but Aaron Mooy's second one a few moments later has to be punched behind as the wind threatens to take it straight into the back of Ali Al Habsi's goal.

Joe Lolley has come on for the Terriers, replacing Rajiv van La Parra, who missed that earlier penalty.

Southend heading for fifth spot

League One and League Two latest

Two goals in five minutes from Marc-Antoine Fortune and Anthony Wordsworth have put Southend 3-0 up at Peterborough - Phil Brown's side will go fifth as things stand.

In League Two, Morecambe have equalised against bottom club Newport thanks to Michael Rose's free-kick.

Goals galore in the Champions League

Manchester City 2-3 Monaco

Five goals, controversy and a penalty save. It's all happening between Manchester City and Monaco in the Champions League.

Follow the closing stages here.

So that will be a goalless draw then...

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Rachel Brown-Finnis

Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"In other matches this season both teams have showed their cutting edge, but not tonight.

"I do still think it's only a matter of time though."

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

The commentary team on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra is currently discussing Jaap Stam's dress sense.

That probably tells you all you need to know about the quality of the game at the moment.

Reading have made their first change, Adrian Popa coming on fro Garath McCleary.

The key moment?

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Here's the moment Huddersfield may be left to rue if they don't pick up three points against Reading... Rajiv van La Parra's first-half penalty, which was saved by Royals goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi.

Rajiv van La Parra

GOAL - QPR 2-1 Wigan

Conor Washington

An excellent finish by Conor Washington from the edge of the penalty area restores QPR's lead against Wigan.

Rangers will be 10 points clear of the Championship's relegation zone if they can hold on.

Elokobi to the rescue

League One and League Two latest

What a night Colchester defender George Elokobi is having.

Not content with scoring wonder goals, he's clearing efforts off his own line.

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

A little bit of a quieter spell between Huddersfield and Reading, with the forwards not being helped by increasingly poor weather.

Nahki Wells nearly tests Reading keeper Ali Al Habsi with a volley from the edge of the box, the ball zipping just wide of the post.

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Brentford

Brentford still lead 2-0 at Hillsborough but their evening has been soured a little by the loss of midfielder Josh McEachran to injury.

The former Chelsea man was carried off the field on a stretcher before half-time.

QPR 1-1 Wigan

Omar Bogle looks in the mood for Wigan tonight.

The former Grimsby striker won and scored a penalty to equalise for the Latics in the first half, and he's just forced QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies into an excellent save.

Wigan need a win at Loftus Road to move out of the Championship's bottom three.

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

David Wagner

Huddersfield head coach David Wagner would have been thrilled with his team's start, but visitors Reading have started the second half pretty well.

The hosts do work their first shot of the half though, Nahki Wells rolling the ball harmlessly wide after being picked out by Aaron Mooy.

The chances continue

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Rachel Brown-Finnis

Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"That was a big chance for Reading - by far their best.

"Danny Williams was about 14 yards out, swivelled really quickly and tried to make it a bit more spectacular than he needed to. It was a gilt edged chance.

"It could easily have been 2-2 at half-time with more quality up front and that was a good chance already in the second half."

Sheffield Wednesday 0-2 Brentford

Sheffield Wednesday have made an attacking change, taking off midfielder Barry Bannan and bringing on another striker, Sam Winnall, to partner Jordan Rhodes up front.

The Owls will stay sixth unless they can find a couple of second-half goals against Brentford, who are good value for their 2-0 lead.

Huddersfield 0-0 Reading

Reading with a big chance right within two minutes of the kick-off.

The Royals keep hold of the ball for what seems like an age, with Roy Beerens eventually picking out Danny Williams inside the box.

The Reading midfielder doesn't do enough with his volley, leaving Huddersfield keeper Danny Ward untroubled, and no doubt a little bit relieved.

Kick-off approaches

Teams are starting to reemerge for the start of the second half.

Burton have made a change with the score 0-0 at Derby, Luke Murphy replacing Jackson Irvine for the final 45 minutes.
