Good night

That's all folks. There will be online highlights of tonight's match available sometime after midnight. It's worth staying up late to see two crackers from Inverness Caley Thistle.

The Highlanders are off the bottom of the league after a gutsy win over Rangers, who have picked up just one Premiership point in February.

Join us again on Saturday for more thrills and spills.

When Saturday comes

We'll be back tomorrow with more Scottish Premiership coverage on BBC Radio Scotland and the BBC Sport website.

This is what the top flight fixtures look like (all 15:00 GMT kick-offs).

Aberdeen v Ross County

Celtic v Hamilton

Motherwell v Dundee

Partick Thistle v Hearts

St Johnstone v Kilmarnock

What next for these two?

FT: Inverness CT 2-1 Rangers

I've mentioned already that Celtic visit the Caledonian Stadium on Wednesday. Richie Foran's side are the only Premiership side to take a point from the runaway leaders this season, can they do it again - or go one better? Confidence will be high after tonight's result.

Rangers are at home to St Johnstone on the same evening and could be nine points behind Aberdeen by then if the Dons beat Ross County tomorrow.

'Rangers not clinical enough'

FT: Inverness CT 2-1 Rangers

Rangers interim manager Graeme Murty talking to BT Sport:

"We need to be clinical in both boxes. We weren't and we were punished for it.

"Some of our approach play was excellent. The tempo we started at was great. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The players were focused tonight and they will be ready to go again next time.

"As long as I'm asked, I'll continue to do the job."

Foran aims high after thrilling victory

Inverness CT manager Richie Foran talking to BBC Sportsound:

"I thought our moment was gone with that missed penalty. We couldn't match Rangers' sharp passing in the first 20-25 minutes but we showed great character to get back into the game and that's a huge result for us.

"I always thought we were a threat in the final third, although I didn't think we'd get another chance after the penalty miss. But that's why we've got a striker like Billy Mckay.

"We're off the bottom and if we can go on a run we can get into the top six."

FT: Inverness CT 2-1 Rangers

Inverness CT goalscorer Greg Tansey on BBC Sportsound:

"Every club has that few months when things go against you but our team spirit has kept us going and we look forward to Wednesday now (at home to Celtic). We want to build on this."

It really was a special goal to win the game and, to me, it looked like Inverness wanted it more tonight. They showed great character and fight

FULL-TIME Inverness CT 2-1 Rangers

Caley Thistle are off the bottom of the table thanks to a terrific late winner from Billy Mckay. It looked like the Highlanders had blown their chance when Wes Foderingham saved Iain Vigurs' weak penalty but Richie Foran's men showed commendable spirit to keep going.

Rangers are without a win in four Premiership games, picking up just one point in that miserable run.

Billy Mckay

No feeling sorry for themselves after that penalty miss...

Inverness are in front again as Billy Mckay shows great strength to hold off Rob Kiernan as a high ball drops in their direction inside the box and then the striker arcs an overhead kick into the net. A wonderful finish.

MISSED PENALTY

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

It's a poor spot-kick from substitute Iain Vigurs and Wes Foderingham gets down to make the save. The ball breaks in the direction of Billy Mckay who leathers the loose ball high over the crossbar under pressure.

PENALTY

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

Rangers defender Danny Wilson is booked for a late lunge on Billy Mckay, who had nipped in on his blind side.

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

David Raven robs Martyn Waghorn and suddenly Inverness have a three-on-three break. Raven feeds Billy Mckay but the striker takes the ball too wide and his rising shot from a tight angle is not going to beat Wes Foderingham.

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

Ross Draper has been impressive in the middle of the park for Inverness but he's making way for Iain Vigurs now.

Rangers also make a midfield change as Jason Holt replaces Andy Halliday.

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

This is the most common full-time score in the Premiership this season, BBC Sportsound commentator Paul Mitchell tells us.

Can anyone find a winner? Play is certainly stretched with gaps opening up at both ends.

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

More good goalkeeping. Martyn Waghorn gathers a good lofted pass from Emerson Hyndman on his chest as he thrusts into the box but Owain Fon Williams is off his line in a flash and well positioned to make a vital block.

GREAT SAVE!

Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

Greg Tansey thinks he's rattled in his second goal of the evening as Inverness rediscover their attacking edge. The midfielder catches a sweet shot from the edge of the box but Wes Foderingham is equal to it, making a fantastic, flying, fingertip save.

GOAL Inverness CT 1-1 Rangers

Martyn Waghorn

The game is level as Martyn Waghorn slams the ball into the corner, with Owain Fon Williams diving off in the other direction.

PENALTY

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Louis Laing slides in late on Lee Wallace after Rangers captain had drilled a cross in from the left edge of the box. Crazy challenge.

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Goalscorer Greg Tansey is booked after clattering into Martyn Waghorn.

CLOSE!

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Rangers' youthful loanees combine as Emerson Hyndman slips a pass through for Jon Toral. The Spaniard only has Owain Fon Williams to beat on the angle but fires his shot narrowly wide of the far post.

GREAT SAVE!

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Barrie McKay dips a shoulder to make room for a shot at the edge of the box and his rising effort is helped over by the fingertips of Owain Fon Williams.

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Rangers break, with Kenny Miller again pulling the strings, Emerson Hyndman and then James Tavernier power in shots and both are blocked fearlessly by Jamie McCart.

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Caley Thistle defender Louis Laing picks up a soft booking for kicking the ball away. Daft.

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Ross Draper is a giant, which makes it odd that he's left all alone at an Inverness corner. A gust of wind comes to Rangers rescue as the midfielder is just unable to get his head on the ball.

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Andy Halliday sends Kenny Miller scampering forward and the Rangers striker is forced wider than he'd like before trying his luck with a shot, which flies over - via a slight deflection which goes undetected just to rub salt into the wounds.

'Monumental 45 minutes coming up'

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Martin Dowden

BBC Sport Scotland at the Caledonian Stadium

This second half is monumental for both sides.

Inverness CT will be desperate to see this out and move off the bottom of the table. They've shown tremendous desire and quality through Tansey's wonderful goal.

Rangers are in danger of losing further ground in the race for second place which may prove insurmountable.

KICK-OFF

Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

We're back up and running...

HT: Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Some big team talks going on now, I'll wager. Richie Foran will be hammering home how important holding on for three points is. Will the Rangers team respond to caretaker Graeme Murty and find a way back?

Rangers started well but they don't score a lot of goals away from home and Inverness started to find pockets of space in the wide areas

HALF-TIME Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Well, well, few would have guessed the half time scoreline after such a promising start from Rangers.

However, the home side did well to weather that storm and they were causing more and more problems as the half wore on.

A great strike from Greg Tansey separates the sides and, as things stand, Caley Thistle are off the foot of the table.

GOAL Inverness CT 1-0 Rangers

Greg Tansey

Rangers surrender possession cheaply and, after a Liam Polworth shot is blocked, Greg Tansey sends a dipping, curling effort into the corner from 22 yards, leaving Wes Foderingham grasping at thin air.

CLOSE!

Inverness CT 0-0 Rangers

Jake Mulraney does very well to speed past Lee Wallace and drills in a cross to a busy front post area. Liam Polworth is the nearest home player and the ball might just clip the outside of the post on its way past.

CLOSE!

Inverness CT 0-0 Rangers

A Barrie McKay effort is blocked on the edge of the Inverness CT box and, with the home defence slow to react, Martyn Waghorn is given time to turn and flash a shot wide from 20 yards.

Inverness CT 0-0 Rangers

The Rangers defence half clear a long ball, with it dropping to Liam Polworth. The Inverness midfielder has visions of glory from 25 yards but only succeeds in frightening a few seagulls with his wayward strike.
