That is just about all from us for the evening as we reflect on Gary Rowett getting his first win as Derby boss.

Here's Phil Cartwright's match report.

The live Championship and EFL text service will be back with you from 12:00 BST tomorrow, building up to the early kick-off - Barnsley v Sheffield Wednesday.

Until then, enjoy the rest of your night and your weekend.

Championship table

FT: Derby 1-0 QPR

So what does tonight mean?

Derby remain in 10th but are now six points off the top six play-off places with the rest of the fixtures to come.

QPR stay 15th and will stay there this weekend as the teams below them cannot go above even if they win.

FT: Derby 1-0 QPR

Derby midfielder Johnny Russell told Sky Sports:

"Matej Vydra's been brilliant for us, he deserves it as he's been working so hard.

"The gaffer has come in and been brilliant this week with everyone.

"It was a bit edgy at the end but it was an important win for us."

FT: Derby 1-0 QPR

Derby goalscorer Matej Vydra told Sky Sports:

"I'm trying to enjoy football right now as I'm playing my best position and that is number 10.

"There are seven games to go and in the Championship and you never know. I think we can reach the play-offs."

Reaction to come from Derby's win over QPR...

FULL-TIME

Derby 1-0 QPR

It wasn't pretty but it is a first win for Gary Rowett as Derby manager.

Matej Vydra's close-range strike was enough for the points in a game where the Rams were much the better side throughout.

Whatever Ian Holloway's plan was, it didn't seem to work for most of the game.

Derby 1-0 QPR

Gary Rowett right on the edge of the technical area barking out instructions and encouraging. He can smell a first three points of his Derby era.

Has QPR's surge been too little too late?

They're struggling to get hold of the ball at the minute as Derby look to keep it and close it out.

Derby 1-0 QPR

We're going to have another four minutes at Pride Park.

HITS THE WOODWORK

Derby 1-0 QPR

Oh my! What is happening here? QPR go close again.

Idrissa Sylla is free from the corner resulting from Matt Smith's shot, and his header hits the post after a bounce on the floor - he didn't connect with that sweetly.

Derby 1-0 QPR

Well, well, well.

I mentioned Matt Smith and spectator goalkeeper Scott Carson has to save his shot that looked to be heading towards the bottom corner.

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 1-0 QPR

More of the ball now for QPR as Derby begin to sit deeper.

Darren Bent finally gets his run out as he comes on for David Nugent up top.

Derby 1-0 QPR

David Nugent does really well to muscle the defender off the ball and then control it as it bounces.

The Derby striker gets too much on his effort towards goal, though.

Derby 1-0 QPR

Matt Smith
Empics

I'm struggling to remember anything meaningful that QPR have created tonight.

Matt Smith has had no service but a couple of attacking options have come on to try to help him - can they salvage anything?

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 1-0 QPR

Goalscorer Matej Vydra comes off for Ikechi Anya, while Will Hughes replaces Tom Ince as Gary Rowett uses his bench for the first time tonight.

Vydra's job is done for the night - he's put his team in front and it's a lead they still hold with 10 minutes remaining.

YELLOW CARD

Derby 1-0 QPR

Luke Freeman slides in late on Bradley Johnson and is shown the expected card for a challenge like that from behind.

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 1-0 QPR

And that is the last bit of action for Darnell Furlong.

QPR top scorer Idrissa Sylla comes on.

Derby 1-0 QPR

Darnell Furlong is lucky to escape a yellow card when he cynically stops Johnny Russell from rounding him.

He put his arms in the Derby winger's face and the referee has a long chat with him, but there's no card.

Derby 1-0 QPR

Gary Rowett
Empics

You may well smile Gary Rowett because your team have been much the better side tonight.

A feel good atmosphere embraces Pride Park as the home fans push the noise levels up a few notches.

Derby 1-0 QPR

You cannot say this is not deserved.

Tom Ince's shot after some clever footwork is blocked by the goalkeeper and it falls to Matej Vydra who drills it into the roof of the net from close range.

Darren Bent sits back down on the Derby bench...

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 0-0 QPR

Ian Holloway dips into his bench again as Yeni Ngbakoto comes on for QPR. He replaces Conor Washington.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Derby v QPR
Empics

A Tom Ince free-kick raises the hopes of a goal as the inswinging cross is really inviting to attack but Matt Smith is back doing his defensive duties to nod it away.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Perhaps it should be unsurprising that two teams safe from relegation, and probably too far back from the play-offs, would not offer the greatest spectacle.

This has been a hard watch at times.

QPR goalkeeper Alex Smithies comes out of his area to stop a ball reaching David Nugent.

SUBSTITUTION

Derby 0-0 QPR

Former Manchester United academy product Sean Goss on for Pawel Wzsolek for QPR.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Three Derby corners in a row come to nothing.

Tom Ince getting some real whip on his balls into the box, but not too many people are attacking them.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Derby v QPR
Empics

With QPR struggling to make an impact in this game, it looks as if they're about to make some changes.

Gary Rowett's name is being sung around Pride Park to create the loudest noise of the night.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Johnny Russell again could, and maybe should, do better.

Derby win the ball high up the pitch, Russell breaks down the left, into the box, but appears to be caught in two minds, again, of whether to pass or shoot.

As he tries to beat a defender, QPR get numbers back and clear.

Derby 0-0 QPR

A QPR free-kick just inside their own half is launched into the Derby box but Matt Smith is unable to get anything onto it and it is cleared.

Ian Holloway's side not offering much of a threat going forward at the minute.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Derby pick up where they left off at the end of 45 minutes, looking much more dangerous as they enjoy more of the ball.

David Nugent screams out in frustration as he mistimes a shot from a cross.

KICK-OFF

Back underway at Pride Park.

Can the managers' inspirational words inspire a goal? I hope that, for all of us, the answer is yes.

Gary Rowett is the fourth man to take charge of Derby this season after Nigel Pearson, Chris Powell and Steve McClaren.

Leyton Orient can top that as they've had five men in charge this campaign and Ian Woodcock and Josh Hunt looked at some of the hottest manager's seats in football this week.

HALF-TIME

Derby 0-0 QPR

Derby have had the better of the chances then in a tight half.

David Nugent forced a decent save and Johnny Russell could have done better with some of his openings, but that will be a pleasing first half at Pride Park for Gary Rowett.

QPR look solid enough at the back but are not offering much up top yet.

Derby 0-0 QPR

A half volley, with your back to goal, as you are spinning to hit the ball is a hard skill.

Derby striker David Nugent shows how hard as he swivels inside the box from a knock down but is unable to wrap his foot around the ball enough to test the goalkeeper.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Matt Smith is cutting an increasingly isolated figure as he leads the line for QPR.

Under a challenge with Alex Pearce, he stays down and has to take a second as he got a knock to the head.

Derby 0-0 QPR

Gary Rowett
Empics

If I tell you Derby have only won one of their last 10 games, you can understand why Gary Rowett was brought in to replace Steve McClaren.

His men have certainly had the better of the chances. A promising start.
