Goodnight

We'll leave you for the night there.

Check out the Real Madrid match report here.

See you tomorrow for the FA Cup tie between Chelsea and Manchester United.

Toughest job in football?

Sergio Ramos has reached double figure of goals in a single season for the first time ever.

Paris St-Germain have beaten Lorient 2-1 to move up to second in Ligue 1. They are three points behind Monaco.

Three minutes of injury time at Lorient. Can Paris St-Germain hang on? Or will they do a Paris St-Germain?

So how does the La Liga table look now? Real Madrid are two points clear at the top, with a game in hand. They've had an extra game since about December following their World Club Cup trip.

La Liga
#bbceurofooty

Paris St-Germain are still 2-1 up at Lorient. They will move up to second if they hold on. About five minutes left there.

I can't show you a picture unfortunately but have a look at the MLS game between Minnesota and Atlanta if you can. It's snowing heavily and the pitch is all white. Total chaos.

Italian Serie A

Roma are going back to second place in Serie A as Bruno Peres scores an injury-time third for them at Palermo. That's 3-0.

FULL-TIME

Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis

It's all over. Real Madrid win an exciting game to go top of La Liga. They are two points above Barcelona with a game in hand too.

Real Madrid keeper Keylor Navas saves them. Antonio Sanabria's header is flying towards goal but a diving Navas turns it around the post.

INJURY TIME

Three minutes added on. Can Betis find an equaliser? Or are Madrid going top?

Lorient 1-2 Paris St-Germain

French Ligue 1

It's not quite over in the 20:00 GMT kick-off at Lorient, for whom Michael Ciani has headed in from Sylvain Marveaux's corner. I know PSG have let a decent lead slip late on once this week, but they won't do it again, surely?

Palermo 0-2 Roma

Italian Serie A

An early birthday present for Edin Dzeko, who turns 31 next Friday. The Roma striker has his 20th Serie A goal of the season, chesting down Radja Nainggolan's chipped pass before rolling it past the advancing keeper. We're inside the final five minutes in Sicily, and Roma are heading back to second, surely.

Sergio Ramos has scored more headers - eight - in all competitions than any other La Liga player this season.

GOAL - Real Madrid 2-1 Real Betis

Sergio Ramos

The Spanish Gareth McAuley has surely won this game for Real Madrid. Captain  Sergio Ramos is in double figures for the season as he finds space in the box before heading home a corner.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid make their final change immediately after that as Marco Asensio replaces fellow attacking midfielder Isco. That switch was going to be made anyway.

RED CARD FOR REAL BETIS

Real Betis are down to 10 men. Marcelo plays a brilliant ball forward to Lucas Vazquez, who is pulled back by Cristiano Piccini as he charges towards the box. Piccini was already booked. Two yellows = one red.

A glorious chance by Cristiano Ronaldo's standards. Isco plays a perfect ball through to the Real Madrid forward, who gets away from a defender and then slams the ball into the side of the net, the side-netting if you will.

Lorient 0-2 Paris St-Germain

French Ligue 1

Paris St-Germain are well on course to go second in Ligue 1. Christopher Nkunku, the 19-year-old, scores his first Ligue 1 goal with a swerving 20-yard shot that Lorient goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte probably should have saved, having got a strong hand to it.

With Benjamin Jeannot, it seems, having been debited with an own goal for PSG's first, it's clearly not a good night to be called Benjamin and playing for Lorient.

Dave Wood:  You just know Sergio Ramos is going to pop up with a 93rd-minute winner

Cristiano Ronaldo has the ball in the back of the net, but he was flagged offside long before he chipped keeper Antonio Adan.

Not sure he was offside mind, having seen a replay. Lucky escape for Real Betis maybe.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Madrid make another switch - on comes striker Karim Benzema for Alvaro Morata, who hasn't done much to cement a first-team place today.

SUBSTITUTION

As things stand, Real Madrid will sit behind Barcelona on goal difference, but Zinedine Zidane's side still have a game in hand.

There are still 12 games left to play for Real.

And Zidane makes his first change, with winger Lucas Vazquez coming on for James Rodriguez.

SUBSTITUTION

Real Betis make a change in midfield as Ruben Castro comes off for the slightly more functional Petros.

Cristiano Ronaldo is through on goal and German Pezzella makes an absolutely brilliant tackle to deny him. I think he just about got a touch on the ball first. It was a very fine line between phenomenal tackle - and red card. And I think he stayed just on the right side of the line.

Real Madrid are starting to edge it now and Toni Kroos hammers a shot wide from 25 yards.

Luka Modric has a shot from 18 yards but it's saved by Antonio Adan. Not sure it was going in anyway.

Ruben Castro lashes over for Betis from Dani Ceballos' cross. Moments earlier, he had a chance to shoot but he was eventually outnumbered by white jerseys.

Real Betis are still in with a great shout here.

Babatunde Sakiru:  Real Madrid needs to get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo and other ineffective players if they want remain on top. No urgency and accuracy!!

Real Madrid have their first chance of the second half. Betis keeper Antonio Adan punches away a Marcelo cross under pressure from Alvaro Morata. James Rodriguez slips before he can take a first-time shot with the rebound and Betis get it clear

Lorient 0-1 Paris St-Germain

French Ligue 1

It's half-time in the 20:00 GMT Ligue 1 game. A little bit of doubt as to who scored PSG's goal, and having seen it a few times, it's still not entirely clear. Edinson Cavani did get a touch to a corner at the near post, but there was a flick off Lorient defender Benjamin Jeannot as well - and he may well be debited with the goal.

Real Betis start the second half on the front foot and win a corner.  Aissa Mandi forces a save from Keylor Navas with a header. Navas didn't throw that one into his net, so he's learning.

Cristiano Ronaldo has scored 46 headed goals in La Liga, more than any other current player in the competition. Athletic Bilbao striker Aritz Aduriz has 45.

Palermo 0-1 Roma

Italian Serie A

Half-time in the 19:45 GMT Serie A game, and Roma are on course to go second, thanks to Stephan El Shaarawy's very tidy 22nd-minute close-range finish.

Lorient 0-1 Paris St-Germain

French Ligue 1

Paris St-Germain might be feeling a little bit better after their Nou Camp nightmare. Unai Emery's side, seeking to go second in Ligue 1, have taken the lead in the 20:00 GMT kick-off at bottom club Lorient, with Edinson Cavani touching in a corner at the near post, possibly with a deflection off an opposing defender too.

While we're enjoying a break in this game, you might be interested to know that Derby have sacked Steve McClaren for the second time in three years. Read the developing story here.
