FT: Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Well. Who saw that coming?

Admit it. Even the most optimistic of Wigan fans can't have thought there was a way back into things.

Nick Powell had other ideas.

If tomorrow's Championship and other EFL action is anywhere near that second half for excitement then you are in for treat. We'll gloss over the first half.

Have a read of Steve Marshall's match report to check how it panned out.

Join us from 14:00 BST tomorrow. Have a good evening and relaxing Bank Holiday morning. that's all from us. Bye.

FULL-TIME

Bury 0-1 Rochdale

Full time in our game in League One too where Callum Camps' goal just before half-time proved to be the difference.

Rochdale's victory lifts them to eighth and cuts the gap between them and the play-off places to just three points.

Bury, meanwhile, will have an anxious Good Friday as they look over their shoulders at the relegation zone.

FULL-TIME

FT: Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

A quite incredible game. Back-to-back wins for Wigan and their chances of staying up remain alive.

Only just, because they are still four points from safety with four games to play. But they have a chance. At 2-0 down, looking well beaten - with just over 20 minutes to play - they seemingly had no chance.

But. What a comeback.

FULL-TIME

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

All over. Nick Powell 3-2 Barnsley.

Sorry, Wigan 3-2 Barnsley.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Ryan Kent goes close to earning a point for Barnsley with a curling effort that is well saved. That is surely time up.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Nick Powell.

If Wigan stay up, he will earn legend status among Latics fans.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Three minutes of the five extra minutes have been played. Wigan are holding firm.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

The first half was dreadful. And that's being kind.

The second has been magnificent. Is there time for more drama?

Barnsley are pushing forward.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

We are into five minutes of time added on.

Nick Powell's penalty is securing all the points for Wigan if things stay as they are.

DISALLOWED GOAL

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Barnsley do more than press and have the ball in the net thanks to a Matty James strike.

But the effort is ruled out, seemingly for a push on keeper Jakob Haugaard. It's not obvious what it was for but that seems to be the best option.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Barnsley get their act together after ten minutes of Nick Powell-inspired mayhem at the other end, forcing a few nervy moments in the home box.

We are into the last three minutes and the visitors are pressing.

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Nick Powell seems intent on keeping Wigan in the Championship all on his own.

He runs through and is not that far off bagging a fourth goal, but drags his effort wide.

The Latics substitute only has the three so far. And remember, Powell got the last-gasp winner against Rotherham at the weekend.

GOAL

Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Powell is the coolest man at the DW Stadium, finding the top corner with a wonderful penalty.

Powell is pushed in the box by Angus MacDonald. It looked a clear penalty.

How on earth has this happened?

GOAL Wigan 3-2 Barnsley

Nick Powell

A ten minute hat-trick for Nick Powell. Amazing stuff.

PENALTY

Wigan 2-2 Barnsley

Incredible stuff. Into the last ten minutes. And Wigan have a spot-kick.

CLOSE!

Wigan 2-2 Barnsley

So, so close to a third Wigan goal.

Max Power's fourth attempt of the night comes crashing back off the bar. By my reckoning his next one should find the net.

YELLOW CARD

Wigan 2-2 Barnsley

A cynical foul on Nick Powell by Barnsley's Gethin Jones who goes in the book.

Former Manchester United man Powell has proved his quality since coming on. He didn't get the chance at Old Trafford after a big-money move, but you cane see why they took the gamble.

Wigan 2-2 Barnsley

As turnarounds go it might be the most dramatic ever witnessed but in terms of how likely it seems it's right up there.

Wigan looked dead and buried but Nick Powell has changed all that.

Still nearly fifteen minutes to go - plus injury-time.

GOAL

Wigan 2-2 Barnsley

Wow. What do I know?

Two goals in two minutes and it's very much game on. Substitute Nick Powell scores Wigan's first from a free-kick that Adam Davies probably should have saved.

And just over a minute later he follows up Ryan Colclough's strike to level the scores.

Can they force a winner? Remarkable stuff.

GOAL (Wigan 1-2 Barnsley)

Nick Powell

Wigan 0-2 Barnsley

Max Power gets a shot on target for Wigan, forcing keeper Adam Davies to push his deflected effort behind for a corner. The set-piece comes to nothing.

SUBSTITUTION

Wigan 0-2 Barnsley

Wigan's final substitution sees Nick Powell replace Gabriel Obertan.

Wigan 0-2 Barnsley

Barnsley are posing a constant threat and Wigan look a side who don't believe they can force a fightback.

There's plenty of time left, and one goal would no doubt change the feeling around the DW Stadium. But it's a big ask of a side who are now looking second best.

Wigan 0-2 Barnsley

Barnsley were far from impressive before they found the net, but have plenty to celebrate now.

Ryan Kent has been involved ion both goals. His strike hit the post for Adam Armstrong's opener just before the break. The visitors certainly enjoyed it too...

Rochdale go close

Bury 0-1 Rochdale

Rochdale still lead the derby with Bury but went close to a second but Calvin Andrew was unable to make a clean connection on Joe Bunney's cross.

GOAL

Wigan 0-2 Barnsley

A great goal by Ryan Kent who cuts in from the wing at pace and finds the bottom corner with a glorious finish.

A fine individual goal - his third of the season.

That could be game over for Wigan.

GOAL Wigan 0-2 Barnsley

Ryan Kent

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

Saidy Janko is a lucky man. The Barnsley defender has just been booked and pushes Michael Jacobs but is spared a second yellow card.

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

There's much more life about the Latics in the second half. The substitutes have made a difference.

Gabriel Obertan sends a header wide and Ryan Colclough has a shot blocked. It's a decent spell by the home side.

SUBSTITUTION

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

Wigan make their second substitution, bringing on midfielder Jack Byrne for full-back Callum Connolly. More much-needed attacking intent from the hosts.

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

The free-kick, which led to a yellow card for Saidy Janko comes to nothing as Michael Jacobs spanks his effort into the wall.

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

Max Power has his second attempt on goal for Wigan. Well I say on goal, his shot is well wide but it comes just before another attack and a free-kick on the edge of the box.

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

A slow start to the second half. Marley Watkins gets a yellow card for Barnsley, who are looking more dangerous on the break as Wigan are forced to push forward in search of the equaliser.

KICK-OFF

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

We are back under way at the DW Stadium. Wigan have made a change with midfielder Sam Morsy replaced by striker Ryan Colclough.

That's an attacking move. It has to be given Wigan's predicament.

Easter offering

Chris Hughton
Rex Features

This is just the start of an action-packed long weekend of Championship football.

Tomorrow sees Brighton and Newcastle's fascinating battle at the top continue, with the Seagulls travelling to face Wolves at 17:00 BST and the Magpies hosting Leeds at 19:45 BST.

They are two of 10 matches that will more than likely make things a bit clearer at both ends of the table.

A Nottingham Forest win over Blackburn would probably put Forest safe and leave Rovers in desperate trouble. Here's the full list:

Brentford v Derby

Bristol City v QPR

Huddersfield v Preston North End

Norwich v Fulham

Nottm Forest v Blackburn

Rotherham v Birmingham

Sheff Wed v Cardiff

Wolverhampton v Brighton (17:00 BST)

Burton Albion v Ipswich (19:45 BST)

Newcastle v Leeds (19:45 BST)

Half-time at Bury

Bury 0-1 Rochdale

The half-time whistle has also gone at Bury, but it's Rochdale's tea that will taste the sweeter as Callum Camps put the visitors in front on the stroke of half-time with a free-kick that goes through the hands of Joe Murphy.

Half-time analysis

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

Ex-Barnsley defender Wayne Goodison on BBC Radio Sheffield:

"Barnsley didn't really get going but when they did threaten and got people forward they showed they could hurt Wigan.

"Wigan haven't really threatened and didn't have more than two people in the attacking third in the first 20 minutes but when they did commit one or two more people forward they got caught on the break and Adam Armstrong scored.

"Wigan have to be more attack-minded in the second half and that could give Barnsley more chances on the break."

HALF-TIME

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

A forgettable half that started off badly and got worse finally showed a bit of life in the final few minutes.

Adam Armstrong's strike on the break has given Barnsley the lead at the interval.

Wigan simply have to go for it in the second half.

Wigan 0-1 Barnsley

One minute of added time to play.
