'A great ball in'

Hull 0-2 Sunderland

Leon Osman

Ex-Everton midfielder at KCOM Stadium for 5 live Sport

Absolutely fantastic play from Sunderland. They looked as though they were going to play that free-kick short and that dragged Hull's defenders out of position.

Then it was a great ball in, bounced knee-height, and Jermain Defoe judged that if he let the ball hit him it would ricochet into the net... and that is exactly what happened.

GOAL - Hull 0-2 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe

Big, big blow for Hull. Jermain Defoe pounces from close range. It looks like he was offside but the flag stayed down.

Hull need time. They have four more minutes to find a leveller. Into stoppage time...

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

There is a sense of resignation around the KCOM. Quieter than Hull Central Library.

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Evandro is straight into the action, firing a low shot wide of the left-hand post.

Into the final five...

Another throw of the tactical dice by Hull boss Marco Silva. On comes Evandro...

'Hull have looked hesitant'

Trevor Sinclair

Ex-Man City & West Ham winger on Final Score

Certain Hull defenders have looked hesitant this afternoon, afraid of making mistakes. The hosts have found it hard to make an impression today and sustain any pressure.

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Andrea Ranocchia appears on the edge of the Sunderland box (nope, I've no idea what he is doing there either...). But the on-loan Inter centre-back dillies, dallies and doesn't get a shot away.

'The pressure is getting to the Hull players'

Alex Scott

Arsenal Ladies & England right-back on Final Score

You can see the pressure is getting to a few of the Hull players. Some sloppy play, and pressure does funny things to players who are usually so confident and composed.

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Into the final 10. Is this now or never for Hull? It is looking like never...

SUBSTITUTION

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Desperate times...

Midfielder Alfred N'Diaye goes off for Hull, striker Dieumerci Mbokani comes on.

Attack!

GREAT SAVE!

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Jordan Pickford will be the curse of Hull tonight. Another great save from the Sunderland keeper, who makes an instinctive one-handed stop from Abel Hernandez.

'Hull have lost their main attacking threat'

I have played in many games as the underdog, and in reality you play with the pressure off because your supporters are hoping rather than expecting. Too much supporter pressure can make it harder for you to play with freedom and creativity.

Since Lazar Markovic went off Hull have had to move Kamil Grosicki, which has nullified the Tigers' main attacking threat.

Hull City 0-1 Sunderland

.

This is how the table looks as things stand after that Sunderland goal. Not pleasant reading for Hull fans.

There's still time, though.

'Not many people saw this coming!'

David Moyes will be very pleased with his Sunderland team. They survived an early onslaught from Hull at the start of this second half and if anything they are now the side on top. They are showing a real desire to score the first goal... and there you are! A goal!

Not many people saw this coming! Sunderland have been pressuring the Hull area. Arriving late after a John O'Shea flick on was diving Billy Jones, whose header goes in off the far post.

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Hull are stunned. You can hear a pin drop at the KCOM.

Hull in trouble

Hull 0-1 Sunderland

Nightmare for Hull. Sunderland might already be down but they are trying their best to drag their hosts down with them.

And it is a simple goal.

George Honeyman's corner is flicked on at the near post by John O'Shea, allowing Billy Jones - who reacts quickest - to power in with a diving header from six yards.

SUBSTITUTION

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Here's that Hull change. Lazar Markovic cannot continue and that means an introduction, as we expected, for Tom Huddlestone.

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Play continues and while Hull are a man light, Jermain Defoe fizzes a rising drive just over the home crossbar.

The Sunderland striker has not scored in his past 10 matches...

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Lazar Markovic is still getting treatment on the sideline, Hull temporarily down to 10 men.

It doesn't look like he will continue though. That's because Tom Huddlestone is getting stripped off and ready to come on.

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

This isn't great news for Hull, however. Lazar Markovic is down with a spot of injury bother.

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

And they almost do!

Abel Hernandez finds himself in acres of space just inside the Sunderland box when he is found by left-back Andrew Robertson's low cross.

His eyes light up - but he doesn't bank on John O'Shea flinging his ageing body in the way to block. Excellent defending.

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Hull are the only side not to score against Sunderland this season. Yet.

That is an unwanted stat the home side need to remedy rather quickly.

'Things are boiling up nicely...'

We've got a game now! It's end-to-end, and that's just what Hull need because they are chasing a goal. Of course, that in itself could create openings for Sunderland. Things are boiling up nicely...

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

"COME ON CITY!"

The home crowd find their voices as they will their team forward. Better from Hull.

GREAT SAVE!

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

The whole of Hull thought they were going to see the Sunderland goal bulge.

Lazar Markovic is left all alone inside the Sunderland box, jumping to meet Ahmed Elmohamady's delightful right-wing cross with a thumping header.

Jordan Pickford - not for the first time this season - comes to Sunderland's rescue with a flying fingertip save.

'It was an easy save'

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Leon Osman

Ex-Everton midfielder at KCOM Stadium for 5 live Sport

It was so, so simple from Sunderland for Jermain Defoe to break beyond the Hull backline. But his first touch took him away from goal and, being closed down swiftly by a centre-back, he could only prod it towards goal and it was an easy save.

But what distribution up to Defoe by Sunderland keeper Jordan Pickford...

Nice cap, Leon.

It's opening up!

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Almost a goal at the other end! Kamil Grosicki - who is easily Hull's most potent attacking threat - clips up a teasing cross from the left, Jordan Pickford flaps, but his touch is just enough to stop Alfred N'Diaye nodding in.

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

And then Hull go straight on the attack...

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe usually buries these. The Sudnerland striker scampers clear of the Hull defence, opens up his body, shaping up to steer into the far corner. But he can only hit it straight at Eldin Jakupovic.

PENALTY APPEAL

Hull 0-0 Sunderland

Hull midfielder Lazar Markovic tumbles over in the Sunderland box, bringing a few half-hearted appeals from the home faithful.

The on-loan Liverpool player tries to dance around the wardrobe-like frame of Victor Anichebe. He bounces off him like a ball off a wall.

Anichebe gives a classic fingerwag at ref Neil Swarbrick, who agrees with the Sunderland man.
