Good night

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Thank you very much for logging on tonight. We had to to keep you hanging on there while we waited to hear from the Inverness boss. Look out for post-match reaction and the highlights on our website this evening. All the best.

'I need nasty'

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Inverness CT manager Richie Foran: "It's going to be harder but it's not impossible. There are still 12 points up for grabs. It's a tough task now. I can see some of the players are low in confidence. We have too many nice guys in our team, I need nasty. I have to look at my signings. I should have signed a couple of warriors, a couple of real men. We need to win the four games."

Highlights online at midnight

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

We'll have highlights of the match on the BBC Sport website at midnight. We're just waiting to bring you the post-match thoughts of Richie Foran.

'A real team performance'

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Ross County manager Jim McIntyre: "It was a very important evening and it was so important to get that first goal. Gardyne and Dow had very important jobs, in terms of getting the balance right between tucking in defensively and also being a threat. Pivotal to us winning this match was the partnership between Liam Boyce and Craig Curran. They were just so difficult to deal with. It helps get you up the pitch when the strikers can hold the ball up. We spoke about the need to get crosses into the box because we know they don't deal with that well. It was a real team performance tonight. We're sitting in seventh place, hopefuilly results go our way tomorrow. There is still a lot of work to be done. We won't finish in the bottom spot but there is still a realistic chance of being dragged into a play-off. We need to make sure that focus is the same when we go down to Motherwell next week."

'This has been coming'

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Former ICT player and manager Charlie Christie: "It's a really, really awful night for Caley Thistle and it hurts me to say it, but this has been coming. I've been there since day one, I've coached from under-nines to the first team. It's been coming. I need to watch what I'm saying because I'm an employee of the club, but it's disappointing."

If Dembele's worth £40m...

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

BBC Scotland commentator Liam McLeod: "Those four goals have taken Liam Boyce up to 20 in the Premiership, 21 overall, at the top of the table with Scott Sinclair of Celtic. Boyce and Sinclair have scored three more than Moussa Dembele, a player who has been valued at £40m."

It's all about the supply

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Ross County scorer Liam Boyce: "It was just an all-round good performance. To be honest, I don't score goals unless crosses are getting put in to the box. I just know he (Michael Gardyne) is going to drop the shoulder and whip the ball into the box. No-one can live with how quick it is and the change of direction. I just have to make a movement. I think we completely dominated."

Michael Gardyne: "That is four or five times this season we have bullied them. It is a great result. We knew if we won we'd be 11 points away from Caley. When you're in the bottom six the task is to finish seventh so we will go and make sure we finish best of the rest."

Premiership table, ICT in trouble

FT Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Well, Inverness need other teams, especially Dundee, to have a stinker of a run-in so that they might avoid the automatic relegation spot. They are in deep trouble.

How do you recover from this?

Martin Dowden

BBC Sport Scotland

Liam Boyce was approaching double figures in Highland derbies this season. His withdrawal was perhaps the only thing that prevented that.

It's turned into a horrendous night for Inverness. How Richie Foran lifts his side from this who knows?

Ryan Esson gets a strong hand to Michael Gardyne's fizzing shot as he palms it his left and to safety.

Desperate measures

Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Inverness are knocking long balls up to Billy Mckay when they occasionally win possession, but the little striker has no chance against the County defence and the hosts are able to quickly regain control.

It can be a cruel sport

Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

This is excruciating for Caley Thistle fans. They have eight more minutes to endure. County are knocking the ball about with ease against the 10 men.

A humbling experience

Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

On BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound, Charlie Christie: "I don't think I've ever, in 23 years, encountered Ross County fans being in a position to "ole" Caley Thistle. It's usually the opposite. You just want the game to finish. It'a a really difficult time."

Jake's lucky break...for now

Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Earlier, TV replays showed that Jake Mulraney was very fortunate not to be sent off for an off-the-ball incident in which he appeared to try to head-butt Michael Gardyne.

Boyce - a healthy return

Ross County 4-0

Those four goals by Liam Boyce have taken his tally to 21 for the season. That is a very impressive return for a team in the bottom half of the Premiership table.

Nothing beats experience

Ross County 4-0 Inverness CT

Charlie Christie tells BBC Radio Scotland listeners: "What concerned me is our two centre-backs being so young. We're in a relegation fight - we've got a 19-year-old and 22-year-old, I think, in the centre of our defence. It's a big ask for these young guys. Jamie McCart will hopefully go on and have a great career but to be in a relegation battle with so little experience is a huge ask."

BBC Scotland commentator Liam McLeod: "It's the 12th time that Inverness have conceded at least three in a game and if you do that you are inviting trouble."

GOAL Ross County 3-0 Inverness CT (Boyce)

Liam Boyce scores his third, this time from the penalty spot, and that makes it his fifth hat-trick for the Staggies. It's also his fifth goal in County's last four matches.

PENALTY

Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Ross County win a penalty as David Raven flattens Martin Woods in the box with a clumsy challenge from behind.

Wasteful Woods

Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Indeed, Billy Mckay is on for Billy King. Richie Foran had to do something to change the match in ICT's favour. But it's Ross County who have the first chance of the half, with Martin Woods given the chance to send in a good ball from a free-kick out on the right (except he chooses to shoot and is wide of the target).

As things stand

HT Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Now, if Ross County hang on to win the three points they would move above Kilmarnock into seventh place in the Premiership, while Inverness would remain rooted to the foot of the table, five points adrift of 11th-placed Dundee but having played a game more.

Tumultuous team talk

HT Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Martin Dowden

BBC Sport Scotland

This is the biggest 15 minutes of Richie Foran's managerial career. They need something here or they need a miracle in the four remaining fixtures.

He's entitled to feel hard done by. His side started so positively but Ryan Esson's horror moment changed everything.

When the chips are down they're down. The value of a striker like Liam Boyce is there for all to see once again but his strike partner Craig Curran has played a big part with his energy and determination.

PENALTY APPEALS

Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Jake Mulraney takes a risk with a meaty shoulder charge on Michael Gardyne in the ICT box, but referee Craig Thomson, correctly in my view, waves play on. Seconds later, Thomson makes an error at the other end of the pitch as Caley Thistle's Liam Polworth goes down in the box from a blatant push in the back by Tim Chow. There was no reason for Polworth to go down - he was in a great position to shoot or pass. That should have been an Inverness penalty.

Argh...

Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Iain Vigurs has possession in the final third, enough to raise the hopes of the travelling supporters. What made him over-hit his cross quite so badly we shall never know.

Nothing to defend

Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Martin Dowden

BBC Sport Scotland

The first goal was just horrendous but one of those things but Inverness' defending for the second wasn't good enough.

You can't give Liam Boyce that room. It was a fantastic finish but under a challenge, he'd have struggled.

The defence had been a problem for the visitors all season. It's undermined them again.

Max Boyce

Ross County 2-0 Inverness CT

Liam Boyce knocks a header wide of Ryan Esson's goal as he goes in search of his hat-trick. The Northern Ireland striker is winning everything in the air in the ICT box, with superb deliveries from Jim O'Brien and Michael Gardyne.
