And that's your lot from us.

If your'e just joining in, scroll on down, there's a lot to take in.

We will see you next time.

Until then!

England 2-2 Germany (3-4 on pens)

England showed some glimpses of real promise as a team, but after Germany equalised the momentum swung their way. They might have won it in normal time, they might have won it as the game went to 120 minutes, but in the end spot-kicks decided it.

Germany make it through to Friday's final in Krakow. Spain take on Italy in the other semi-final.

England 2-2 Germany (3-4 on pens)

George, I like those odds.

Robin Clifford: Always good to get practice loosing to the Germans on penalties, will see them well when they're in the Seniors!

Adam: Great effort by the England lads today and at this tournament. The future is bright!

George Biggs: Literally rather flip a coin than try to beat Germany on penalties at this point.

'A heroic effort'

England 2-2 Germany (3-4 on pens)

Terry Butcher

Ex-England captain in Tychy for 5 live sports extra

I feel sorry for Nathan Redmond. It was a comfortable save. What a way to lose the game. What a heroic effort from all these England players. They matched Germany - the application and spirit has been magnificent throughout this competition.

England 2-2 Germany (3-4 on pens)

So, so gutting for England.

They lose to Germany. On penalties. Again.

Germany celebrate beating England on penalties

Germany beat England 4-3 on penalties

Penalties - Saved: England 3-4 Germany

Nathan Redmond for England

Saved by the keeper! A big pair of gloves beats it away. It was central from Redmond...

Nathan Redmond

England have to score...

Penalties - Scored: England 3-4 Germany

Nadiem Amiri for Germany

Pickford gets a hand to it but not enough. Amiri wheels away with his finger to his lips.

Penalties - Scored: England 3-3 Germany

James Ward-Prowse for England

Ward-Prowse drives it in, high and away from the keeper who again dived the wrong way. Pollersbeck has been looking at notes hidden in his sock.

Penalties - Scored: England 2-3 Germany

Max Meyer for Germany

Pickford goes the wrong way this time. Meyer drives it home.

Penalties - Scored: England 2-2 Germany

Ben Chilwell for England

See ya later keeps. Chilwell sends him the wrong way, left foot right int the corner.

Penalties - Scored: England 1-2 Germany

Max Philipp for Germany

Philipp finds the net - high above Pickford's gloves, good pen. The keeper wasn't getting there.

Penalties - Saved: England 1-1 Germany

Tammy Abraham for England

That is poor. Weak. Abraham dribbles his effort to Pollersbeck's right.

Penalties - Saved: England 1-1 Germany

Yannick Gerhardt for Germany

Great save from Pickford! Diving to his right he fists it away.

Penalties - Scored: England 1-1 Germany

Lewis Baker for England

Nicely done, gave the keeper the eyes, sent him the wrong way, into the corner.

Lewis Baker

Penalties - Scored: England 0-1 Germany

Max Arnold for Germany

Blasted straight down the middle. Pickford went to his right.

England 2-2 Germany

It'll be Germany to take first. Max Arnold has the ball in his hands.

Here we go...

England 2-2 Germany

Fine words from Mr Butcher.

England just need to think about Stuart Pearce.

No, not 1990 Pearce, 1996 Pearce.

BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

This is the first time Terry Butcher has sat down in 120 minutes...

England 2-2 Germany

Terry Butcher

Ex-England captain in Tychy for 5 live sports extra

I've just sat down. My legs have gone from underneath me.

Great guts and spirit - they've carried the badge and the jersey, and they've made everyone proud.

England 2-2 Germany

That's it!

It's England v Germany on penalties, for a place in the final.

What were you expecting?

England 2-2 Germany

Nathan Redmond drives up the park. His cross is poor but the rebound comes back in, Lewis Baker pings a pass into German legs...

England 2-2 Germany

Terry Butcher

Ex-England captain in Tychy for 5 live sports extra

What guts, what character from this England team. They're out on their feet.

England 2-2 Germany

Nadiem Amiri to take, right-footed straight into the wall. Germany launch the rebound back in, Calum Chambers clears.

Penalties are on their way...

England 2-2 Germany

Max Philipp, tripped outside the box by Alfie Mawson, wins a free-kick for Germany. Jordan Pickford shouts his wall into shape. A big moment as the clock ticks down...

England 2-2 Germany

Germany launching crosses into the box. Jordan Pickford smashes away on his fist. Great play.

FOUR minutes to go.

England 2-2 Germany

Terry Butcher

Ex-England captain in Tychy for 5 live sports extra

That was unbearable. He missed the ball completely. Any touch would have done. I can't watch it again because every time I see it I think he's going to score.

England 2-2 Germany

Ten minutes into the game and Tammy Abraham reaches this - a ball over the top is just out of range of his tired legs.

And then down the other end, there is a HUGE miss. Jeremy Oljan beats his man, picks out Nadiem Amiri steaming in at the back stick - OPEN GOAL.

The ball runs through his legs. My word.

England 2-2 Germany

A poor Germany clearance, a reaching England leg in midfield that can't bring it down and counter. Can anyone find that extra reserve of energy to force a winner?

England 2-2 Germany

This is getting leggy, the players are knackered.

Adding insult to injury, the crowd are now doing a Mexican wave.

England 2-2 Germany

Ten minutes to go.

England beating Germany on pens? Stranger things have happened. I can't think of any but they have.

'German Superman'

England 2-2 Germany

Terry Butcher

Ex-England captain in Tychy for 5 live sport extra

There was a German Superman there - the keeper got nowhere near it. If Chambers had got the header on goal he would have scored.

England 2-2 Germany

Marc-Oliver Kempf is into the book for a deliberate handball that stopped Dominic Iorfa in full flow. The message seems to have been just give the ball to Iorfa, he's everywhere.

James Ward-Prowse delivers the free-kick - and the keeper's thrown himself at it but got nowhere! Calum Chambers can't quite direct it on target though.

A let off for Germany. Haven't typed that too often this evening.

England 2-2 Germany

Dominic Iorfa is straight into it, darting down the right flank and picking out John Swift in the middle. Shame about the header wide. He was crowded out.

England 2-2 Germany

A change for England. That's their extra one, their fourth, as well.

Wolves defender Dominic Iorfa is on and Mason Holgate off. He'll slot in at right-back. Fresh legs.

'England aren't winning duels'

England 2-2 Germany

Terry Butcher

Ex-England captain in Tychy for 5 live sport extra

I'd still take penalties now. England are going to have to hold out. Jacob Murhpy and Mason Holgate are getting ripped to pieces - there are duels England aren't winning. But they have fantastic fight and spirit, I just hope it can take them one step further.

This could be the longest 15 minutes of our loves.

England 2-2 Germany

Half-time in extra-time. Aidy Boothroyd is down there, creasing his tailored waistcoat as he barks out encouragement to his players.

England 2-2 Germany

Jordan Pickford parries a stinging shot from outside the box and once England chase down the rebound they broke up the pitch.

It falls to Lewis Baker, it's sitting nicely, the clock ticking down to half-time... But he snatches at his shot. Wide. At least test the keeper. That is tiredness.
