FT: Reading 2-1 Aston Villa

Chris Duckworth: It won't be long until the clamour for Steve Bruce to be sacked starts.

Pauly B: I didn't think I'd say it but Bruce has to go, too defensive and no plan b, Tim Sherwood for me

That would be a pretty dramatic turn of events if Villa should turn to the man they sacked two years ago.

Reading 2-1 Aston Villa

Brentford 2-2 Bristol City

Bristol City have ridden their luck tonight, but a combination of Frank Fielding's outstanding night in goal and Bobby Reid's late equaliser secures them a point.

Brentford remain without a win in the league to start the season.

GOAL: Hull City 2-3 Wolves

David Meyler

The Republic of Ireland international slots home from the penalty spot in the eight minute of injury time after Adama Diomande had been pushed to the ground in the area.

GOAL: Reading 2-1 Aston Villa

Conor Hourihane

Late hope for Villa?

Fine strike from the former Barnsley man but will it count for anything?

GOAL: Brentford 2-2 Bristol City

Bobby Reid

Talk about leaving it late.

Bobby Reid equalises for Bristol City in the ninth minute of added time at Griffin Park, turning in the rebound after Brentford keeper Dan Bentley could only parry Nathan Baker's shot back into the danger area.

Hull City 1-2 Wolves

Not a great sight for Hull City fans.

Striker Abel Hernandez has had to go off and midfielder David Meyler is on in his place.

Five to go there.

Reading 2-0 Aston Villa

Jim Barker: Hate being that guy but want Bruce gone already. Can't pass, defend or score. Plus, mom doesn't like him.

Paul Shonie: No way Bruce should go. He's doing a wonderful job at Villa. Long may he continue @ National League 2020

Lester Broom: over reaction by Villa fans asking for Bruce to be sacked after 3 games, they need to wait at least 10 games before that

GOAL: Millwall 3-3 Ipswich

Tom Elliott

Tom Elliott has yet to start a Championship game for Millwall, but he knows how to make an impact from the bench.

Five minutes after replacing Steve Morison, Elliott drills in at the back post after visitors Ipswich fail to clear a free-kick.

Can anyone find a winner in the last eight minutes or so?

Cardiff 2-0 Sheff Utd

Cardiff are well on top in Wales.

They're coasting to a third straight win.

Could Neil Warnock, in his 50th season in football, lead another team to promotion?

Maupay puts Bees ahead

Brentford 2-1 Bristol City

It has been a very one-sided game at Griffin Park tonight, and the scoreline is starting to reflect it.

Brentford fell behind to Bristol City at the start if the first half, but they have their first lead of the night as Neal Maupay fires in from 15 yards out, moments after coming on as a substitute.

City, who have managed just four shots to the hosts' 21, have only 10 minutes left to find an equaliser.

Hull City 1-2 Wolves

Some contest in East Yorkshire.

Abel Hernandez, who hit a hat-trick at the weekend, strikes the post for the hosts with a header from a Sam Clucas cross.

Reading 2-0 Aston Villa

Adam Williams

BBC Sport at Madejski Stadium

What a difference a goal can make to the feel of a game.

Not much doing in the first 45 minutes of this one, but then two goals in the space of seven minutes for Reading have changed that dramatically.

Glenn Whelen's unfortunate deflection broke the deadlock and then Mo Barrow's close-range finish took advantage of the open spaces in the Villa penalty box.

The 3,935 travelling supporters made their feelings immediately known to the players and Steve Bruce cuts a worried figure on the touchline.

Even contest at Elland Road.

The hosts have a free-kick in a promising position but Pablo Hernandez hits a weak effort straight at the wall.

Reading v Villa
Rex Features

The Gambian has his first Royals goal.

Former Swansea man Mo Barrow pokes home from close range and, as it stands, Villa are in the relegation zone.

Hull City 1-2 Wolves

Wolves keeper John Ruddy makes a fine save to deny Frazier Campbell his first goal since rejoining the Tigers in the summer.

GOAL: Reading 1-0 Aston Villa

Glenn Whelan (OG)

For the first time at Madejski Stadium, goal-line tech was used to confirm that it cross the line as Johnstone scrambled to keep it out.

Is Villa's wretched away form going to continue?

They trail at the Madejski after goalline technology shows that Adrian Popa's cross had (just) crossed the line after deflecting off the unfortunate Glenn Whelan.

Watkins draws Bees level

Brentford 1-1 Bristol City

Brentford finally get the reward for their dominance against Bristol City, and it's last season's EFL Young Player of the Year who provides it.

Ollie Watkins scores his first league goal since joining the Bees from Exeter in the summer, heading in Jota's cross at the back post.

Elsewhere, Derby are on course for their first win of the season, as Matej Vydra slots into the bottom corner from the penalty spot to put them 1-0 up against Preston.

Brentford v Bristol City

GOAL: Middlesbrough 2-0 Burton

Britt Assombalonga

Two for Boro and two for Britt Assombalonga.

The big striker had a chance to make it 2-0 earlier in the half but makes no mistake this time, tucking in after Rudy Gestede's effort was saved.

GOAL: Cardiff 2-0 Sheffield United

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing

Cardiff had started this half strongly and now they have the goal they were threatening.

It's four goals in four games for former Rochdale man Nathaniel Mendez-Laing as he shows great pace before cutting inside and hitting a fine shot to make it 2-0.

Barnsley retake the lead

Barnsley 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Ryan Hedges
Rex Features

Could Barnsley be celebrating their first win of the season in about 40 minutes' time?

It looks that way at the moment, as Ryan Hedges has drilled in his third goal in four games this season to give the Tykes a 2-1 lead over visitors Nottingham Forest.

Cardiff 1-0 Sheff Utd

Cardiff are in a rush to get this game wrapped up.

Kenneth Zohore goes close again but this time sends a shot into the sidenetting.

Cardiff, looking to secure a third successive league win, nearly have a second but Blades keeper Jamal Blackman denies Kenneth Zohore before Lee Tomlin fires wide on the rebound.

We're back under way in our 19:45 BST games.

Reading 0-0 Aston Villa

Adam Williams

BBC Sport at Madejski Stadium

Two great chances in the space of a minute for Reading and Adrian Popa were about the most animated that first half got.

Villa's best chance came early on when Andre Green found himself through on goal but couldn't capitalise.

The visitors have lost the services of Scott Hogan up top through injury, but Gabby Agbonlahor looks hungry to make an impression in his place.

Difficult to tell at the break who looks the more likely to come away with a first win of the campaign come full-time.
