Lewis Hamilton now has four British GP poles, equal with Sir Stirling Moss in second place.

Can he match Nigel Mansell's four victories in the race tomorrow?

Joins us from 11:00 BST for a bumper-pack build-up to the race.

I'm going out now to adopt a bulldog and I'm going to bring him to work.

Not really, a dog is for life, not just for a live text commentary, folks.

See you tomorrow.

Good news: We are very happy that Marcus is ok! He is already on the way back to the track #F1 #BritishGP @Ericsson_Marcus

Yup, this is good news after his nasty crash earlier.

But 22nd on the grid for the Sauber man after he missed qualifying.

Rosberg called to the stewards?

Motorsport.com are reporting that Nico Rosberg has been called in to face the stewards, and could face a penalty.

Apparently it's because Rosberg exceeded "the maximum time set by the FIA between the Safety Car line after the pit exit and Safety Car line before the pit entry at 13.05", according to a snappily worded FIA statement.

'Fantastic from both guys'

Red Bull boss Christian Horner tells Sky Sports: "We knew we were in good shape so for both cars to be on the second row is good and hopefully we can give Ferrari a hard time tomorrow.

"It is the first time Max has out-qualified Daniel so he will take confidence in that. Max nailed it and did the job required, but it was a fantastic performance from both guys to have a second-row lock out.

"We are 24 points behind Ferrari and if we can nick a few points here there are a few tracks coming up that are going to be good for us. This demonstrates the progress we are making and testimony to all the good work that is coming out."

'It's not good'

After finishing in P6, Sebastian Vettel will line up 11th on the grid after a five-place grid penalty for changing his gearbox for the second weekend in the row.

"It wasn't bad. It was better than we expected after a difficult practice," he tells Sky Sports.

"If we knew the problem with the gearbox would turn it off. We had an issue yesterday and an issue this morning. It's not good. We have to try and understand what has changed."

'No mistaking who the fans want to win'

Gary Rose

BBC Sport at Silverstone

There's a mass exodus at Silverstone, presumably to beat the traffic, or the queues for a beer at the F1 village.

Lewis Hamilton may have his critics, but there's no mistaking who the fans want to win here.

There were huge cheers as he secured that pole and there was excited chatter from those leaving the grandstands about the possibility of seeing another British win at Silverstone.

'Mercedes have a turbo button'

Max Verstappen out-qualifies his team-mate Daniel Ricciardo for the first time to take third on the grid.

"I've been a bit unlucky the last few qualifyings. Today was a very good qualifying.

"The car performed as it should be. We are strong compared to cars behind us. It seemed like the Mercedes had a turbo button."

'Congrats to Lewis'

Rosberg

Nico Rosberg is asked if the air is clear between him and Lewis Hamilton after that collision in Austria.

"Very clear."

Well I'm convinced.

Anyway, what about qualifying?

"They've given us an incredible car, a pleasure to drive, particularly through the high-speed corners. It just wasn't the best day out there for me. Congrats to Lewis."

'There was nothing to clear up'

Asked about his relationship with team-mate Nico Rosberg after their last-lap collision at the Austrian Grand Prix, Hamilton adds: "I didn't think there was anything that needed to be cleared up. I will try to not be in that position again, I can't speak for Nico."

'I knew I couldn't let the guys down'

Lewis Hamilton, who claimed a dramatic pole position, says: "I want to say how amazing it is and how grateful I am for all the fans that are here this week. From Thursday to today it's the biggest crowd I've seen and the energy they send is amazing.

"It was not the cleanest qualifying session. We had really good pace in Q1, ran wide in Q3 then had good pace on the penultimate lap, but I touched the kerb and it pulled me further, the car bottomed and just bounced outside.

"I was sitting in the garage and knew I couldn't let the guys down and I'm grateful I got the final lap in. Thank you to my team to have the performance we have had - it has been outstanding."

'Sensational'

Mercedes non-executive chairman Niki Lauda talking about Lewis Hamilton on Sky Sports says: "You have to stay on the track, but then the last lap was sensational.

"Lewis in Silverstone with the crowd behind him, it gives him an extra one tenth."

It was all about the first and third sectors for Lewis Hamilton on that final run.

Can Rosberg do it?

No! It's a messy lap and it's nowhere near Hamilton.

Lewis Hamilton will be on pole for the British Grand Prix.

Rosberg has one chance to pip his team-mate.

Silverstone goes nuts. You know why. It's Hammertime!

A 1:29.2 - he's on provisional pole.

Middle sector - slower than Rosberg.

Fastest first sector of the session from Hamilton.

It's a ROS, VES, RIC, RAI, VET, BOT, SAI, HUL, ALO, HAM as it stands.

Hamilton starts his flying lap. Silverstone is behind him, you can hear the cheers.

Unsurprisingly, Hamilton is the first back on track. How many goes will he have at this? Possibly two flying laps.

Rosberg is still biding his time.

'The cars do get blown about'

Allan McNish

BBC Radio 5 live Formula 1 analyst

Hamilton has five minutes to go, so he will have one lap. It is very windy and these cars are light so they do get blown about a bit.

So, everyone's back in the pits ready for a final tilt. It's shoot-out time. Can Hamilton rescue this, or is it Rosberg's day?
