Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari in the top three but with Nico Rosberg half a second clear at the top, the Silver Arrows are looking dominant.

Time is up on our coverage of practice, but join us again tomorrow at 09:30 BST for build up to final practice and then qualifying.

See you tomorrow!

Lots of track time lost for Lewis Hamilton there. He managed just four laps. Will it have a negative impact on his chances this weekend? Probably not, but it's still not ideal.

FP2 result

11) Gutierrez 12) Massa 13) Sainz 14) Bottas 15) Grosjean 16) Kvyat 17) Magnussen 18) Ericsson 19) Palmer 20) Nasr 21) Wehrlein 22) Haryanto

FP2 top 10

1) Rosberg 2) Ricciardo 3) Vettel 4) Verstappen 5) Hamilton 6) Raikkonen 7) Alonso 8) Button 9) Hulkenberg 10) Perez

Chequered flag

Nico Rosberg finishes fastest in second practice for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Jolyon Palmer improves as a 1:23.528 sees him climb up to 19th, putting him within two tenths of a second of his Renault team-mate Kevin Magnussen.

Daniil Kvyat isn't best pleased with Sergio Perez's antics. The Toro Rosso is behind the Force India and Kvyat think he is being blocked.

"He is being a bit of a *BEEP* today," Kvyat says.

Three minutes to go and there'll be no change at the top of the order, which looks like this:

1) Rosberg 2) Ricciardo 3) Vettel 4) Verstappen 5) Hamilton 6) Raikkonen 7) Alonso 8) Button 9) Hulkenberg 10) Perez

Good news, Jolyon Palmer fans! The Briton is finally getting back out on track after a long spell in the garage. His first timed lap, a 1:25.352, leaves him down in 22nd place.

I reckon Kvyat's name sound like a Pokemon character. Can't be just me that thinks that?

Anyway, I digress. Kvyat is currently P13 but his Toro Rosso team-mate is out of second practice. He goes off at Turn 1.

"Something at rear. Related to the engine," he reports.

Kev has a slight spin. We can confirm this WASN'T because he was playing #PokemonGO. Is there anyone not playing it?

Yellow flag

Problems for Felipe Nasr. There's smoke coming off the front of his Sauber as he is wheeled away to behind the barriers at Turn 2. Then, just after and right behind him, Carlos Sainz spins.

Fernando Alonso is indeed back out and is making up for lost time with his qualifying runs. He's jumped up to P7 after a 1:22.328 on the supersofts, putting him just ahead of Jenson Button.

The two Red Bulls are going round together on their super soft run, which is a first sting simulation, Daniel Ricciardo faced a lot of questions yesterday about Max Verstappen coming and beating him in recent races. In the race sim runs right now, Verstappen is eighth tenths of a second on average faster than Ricciardo. It looks like Ricciardo has more homework to do.

There was almost a big crash in the pitlane. Sauber released one of their drivers into the path of a Force India. Luckily the Force India was aware of the situation and managed to jump on the brakes and swerve out of the way.

Just under 30 minutes to go and it looks like Fernando Alonso should be getting back out soon.

Kudos to anyone who got the obscure Python reference in that headline...

Sebastian Vettel has taken his time to switch to super softs, but he is out on the red walled tyres now and goes third quickest with his latest effort a 1:21.348. That puts him 0.3s behind Daniel Ricciardo and 0.9s behind pacesetter Nico Rosberg.

Fernando Alonso currently has the 16th quickest time but he's not out on the track at the moment. There's an issue with his McLaren with the floor having been taken off.

Carlos Sainz, currently 10th quickest, is under investigation for crossing the line at the pit entry.

Meanwhile, it's not been a great day for Jolyon Palmer. He's currently sat in the Renault garage, having managed just two laps and no time.

Max Verstappen goes third quickest but is way off the pace of his Red Bull team-mate, clocking 1:21.770.

A scrappy run through the first sector from Daniel Ricciardo but he's fastest of all through the second. Can he move into P1? Nope, he goes second quickest with 1:21.030, six tenths of a second down on Nico Rosberg's time.

Finally the Red Bulls are out on the supersofts.

Let's see what they've got.

Romain Grosjean ain't happy with his brakes.

He fumes over the radio: "Guys there's been a problem on the brakes, problem on the brakes, problem on the brake."

"Understood."

"I am really fed up with the brakes."

An absolute given.

There's plenty of drivers strapping on those red boots now. Pretty much everyone except for the two Red Bulls. Cards remaining firmly close to the chest.

Interestingly, right now, fastest speed at the finish line is, er, ALO. Suggests strong speed off the final corner.

...and there he goes. A 1:20.435 puts him into P1 and 1.5s quicker than Lewis Hamilton. We are firmly into qualifying sims now and that's a very good lap from Rosberg.

Before everyone starts jumping on 'oh gearbox problems' it is a Friday gearbox, so they would have replaced it anyway going into tomorrow.

Session over for Hamilton

UPDATE: #FP2 over for @LewisHamilton. Although he made it back to garage, car needs to be fully stripped & checked after impact with barrier

Maybe keep that tape on then, Rio.
