Hmm. Things could be about to get feisty if those Fernando Alonso quotes are accurate. Let's see what tomorrow brings.

I'll back in the morning from just before 08:00 GMT. See you then!

Fighting talk

Andrew Benson

Chief F1 writer

Looks like Alonso has come out fighting to the Spanish media. "The team are all ready to win except Honda," they quote him saying. Ouch

That's a wrap for the second day of Barcelona Test 2. Fernando finishes the day with 46 laps completed. #F1Testing

Deja vu.

The track gets busy very quickly as Lewis Hamilton, Romain Grosjean, Jolyon Palmer and Carlos Sainz heaad out.

Go! Go! Go!

The Red Bull has been recovered and we're back under way with the added bonus of five additional minutes of testing.

The session has been extended until 17:05 GMT.

Reece Young: Red Bull look quite quick but have had a fair few mechanical issues. Still seem to have a few problems to iron out

Max Verstappen didn't crash, by the way, just came to a stop. Possibly out of fuel?

Just 10 minutes to go until testing is done for the day.

And confirmation that Kimi Raikkonen's running is done after his crash earlier this afternoon.

Time to fire up the # thingsKimiDOESN'Tfindok hashtag?

No more running for #Kimi7 today. #F1Testing

So close...

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona: Red Flag. That’s a DNF for Max Verstappen who was on the 62nd of his 66-lap race sim.

It is indeed young Verstappen.

Not long after surpassing 100 laps for the day, the Dutchman stopped at Turn 13.

He missed a good chunk of the day's action earlier because of an engine change.

Red flag

Second red flag of the day.

I think it for Max Verstappen's Red Bull...

What is Alonso thinking here?

.
.

Keith Ansell: "They'll never know I'm really Ron Dennis in an Alonso mask. Hehe"

Gave: Alonso's thinking if hondas new civic type r might be a better choice on track this season, space for deck chairs as well...

Max Hunt: "Hello darkness my old friend"

Stroll quicker than Hamilton

Speaking of Lewis Hamilton, he's just been knocked down to P6 by Lance Stroll. The Williams rookie having done a 1:20.579 on supersofts.

An encouraging day for the 18-year-old after last week,

Jolyon Palmer has surpassed his day-one lap total - he's onto 27 for this afternoon having only been sent out about an hour-and-half ago.

With just under 30 minutes remaining, Lewis Hamilton is back out on the track. He'd got an impressive 20 laps out of the ultrasofts a littler earlier.

Max Verstappen won the Spanish Grand Prix with a two-stop strategy last year and the below would appear to suggest another two stopper in Barcelona this year.

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona: "Max Verstappen did 30 laps on his second stint, and then pitted, switching the medium tyres for another set of the soft, which he had on when he started his race distance. He only did 11 laps on the first set of softs, and now he will need to do 25 laps on this set if he does not pit again before the end of the 66-lap race distance. But, of course, the fuel load is much lighter now."

Testing - latest times

Here's the latest times at 16:00 GMT. The only changes from an hour ago are in bold. Most teams have been focusing on long runs rather than outright pace.

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona:  Max Verstappen is doing a race distance. He did a lap, came into the pits but did not stop at the Red Bull garage.

He went to the pit exit and waited a while – just as he would on the grid – before doing a start. He is on the soft compound tyres and turning laps in the 1:25 range, so he has a heavy load of fuel. Red Bull engineers and Christian Horner are monitoring things from the pit wall.

Sergio Perez is leading the way on the lap counter. He's up to 76 for the day.

Perez said recently that he felt Force India can surprise a few people this season and be one of the top three teams.

2I am very optimistic about the car and the season," he said. "Of course it is easy to talk now, but I have a feeling that Force India has done a tremendous job over the winter."

.
.

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen has just done an 11 laps and pitted for the medium compound Pirellis.

His 1:20.432 from this morning on softs is still the fourth quickest time of the day.

Will Kimi Raikkonen get back out before the end of today? It wasn't a heavy crash and there's just under 90 minutes of practice remaining.

We shall see.

Jolyon Palmer posts a 1:26.222 on supersofts as Fernando Alonso heads back out for the first time since the red flag for Kimi Raikkonen's crash.

George : Interesting test so far, however I want to see Hamilton on a quali run and break 1.18.. can it be done?

Lots of new information in that tweet. Going to take me a moment to digest it all.

While I do, you might be pleased to learn that Jolyon Palmer is back out now in the Renault.

He's had to be patient this afternoon, with a couple of false dawns after Renault tweeted an hour or so ago that he was heading out, but he's just now completed his first lap of the day.

A personal best for Lance Stroll as he does a 1:22.217 on softs. He pits and Lewis Hamilton swaps places with him on the track, joining Max Verstappen out there.
