@Circuitcat_eng

A strong day for Ferrari, but plenty to mull over at McLaren.

Will it come together for them tomorrow? It's their last chance before the season gets under way.

I'll be back bright and early tomorrow morning for the final day of testing. Join me then!

That's a wrap for the penultimate day of winter testing. @svandoorne finishes the day on 48 laps. #F1Testing

Mr Thomas: Surely all teams are sandbagging. Drivers saying cars are demanding to drive yet doing 150 laps in a day?!

Chequered flag

That's it for the penultimate day of testing.

Sebastian Vettel tops the timesheets with that fast lap he got in the morning.

Sebastian Vettel is also taking the chance to squeeze a couple more laps in. He's already passed 150 for the day - more than two Spanish GPs worth of laps.

We've got Daniel Ricciardo and Pascal Wehrlein on the circuit as we enter the final 10 minutes of the penultimate test.

Question is, will McLaren get back out? No sign of them yet and the clock is against then...

Daniel Jones: Congrats to Lance Stroll for keeping it on the track for 85 laps. Maybe an update for @WilliamsRacing with the money saved.

Ziaulhaq Daulazai: Always the same with Ferrari, impressive testing but come AUS Q3 Mercedes run away with an easy 1,2.

Chris Marsh: Re: 16.41 If he starts running now he might.

Stoffel Vandoorne is still on 48 laps for the day. Will he reach the half century for McLaren? He's in the garage at the moment with 20 minutes remaining...

We're heading towards a fairly undramatic end to the day with just four cars out on the track at the moment, although three of those are the expected front runners - Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull. Toro Rosso have managed to get Daniil Kvyat back on the track.

Graham Martin:@LewisHamilton has only done 4 more laps than Vandoorne who's basically running around without an engine ;- )

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona: More trouble at McLaren?

Stoffel Vandoorne lifted off the throttle as he got towards the end of the main straight. He pulled to the inside of the track, almost stopped, then drove slowly back to the pits and got out the car.

There is a small but very vocal Vandoorne fan club in the grandstands opposite the McLaren pit. They cheer loudly, clap and blow air horns each time he comes in to the pits or leaves them.

Rachel T: Get out of town. No-one 'deserves' a fast car. Alonso has made one bad career move after another since 2006.

Michael Simmons: Alonso is one of the best out there but as for Honda Jury Still Out.

After completing his race simulation earlier this afternoon Sebastian Vettel is back out on the track for the final 45 minutes. He's got super-softs on his Ferrari.

He hasn't been out since bringing out the red flag when he stopped on the circuit around 90 minutes ago.

Kevin Magnussen and Pascal Wehrlein are also on the track now.

It's like the old days as former Williams team-mates Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa head out onto the track.

Massa is stilling propping up the timesheet with Bottas, who is on 58 laps for the afternoon, is P8.

Go! Go! Go!

The recovery truck driver has earned their money today.

Jolyon Palmer's Renault is removed and we are back under way with just over one hour to go.

Denise Murdoch: Why all the ongoing Fernando hate? 10 years ago was also LH's fault. Fernando also deserves a fast car to be on the podium .

Palmer came to a stop at Turn 10 just after reaching a half century of laps for the day.

Red flag

The fourth flutter of the red flag today and it's for Jolyon Palmer's Renault.

We've talked a lot about McLaren and Honda but Renault have certainly had their issues in testing.

F1 journalist Dan Knutson in Barcelona: The tyres have been holding up pretty well. Yesterday, Sebastian Vettel did 33 laps [half a race] on the soft compound, although his lap times did drop off on the last nine laps. Lewis Hamilton completed 20 laps on a scrubbed set of the ultra softs. It’s looking like the drivers’ predictions of one-stop races might come true.

Having said that, Vettel has just completed his grand prix distance today, during which he pitted twice, using softs, softs and mediums.

Michael: Alonso's been the biggest beneficiary of preferential treatment the sport has seen since Schumacher. He is anti-competition and likes having his teammates nobbled so they can't mount any kind of challenge. He should be thankful that Ferrari made him #1 because they gave him 2 title contending years in 2010 and 2012.

LH vs FA would be fantastic. Merc don't want FA though because of 2007.

Felipe Massa topped the timesheets on Monday but pace is clearly not on the top of Williams agenda today. He's currently propping up the timesheet with a 1:25.080 he did on softs.

The Brazilian has completed 36 laps so far this afternoon. Lance stroll did 85 this morning.

Esteban Ocon makes it 100 laps for the day. It's been a very good day for Force India.

At 15:32 GMT I asked you to name the driver behind the swirly picture and it is indeed Mario Andretti.

Mario Andretti voiced his character in the animated film Cars but Fernando Alonso did the voice for the Spanish version of the film.

Well done Will Rousseau, first to get it correct.

Michael Simmons: David Attenborough has seen a glimpse of the black & orange MCL32 doing its usual dart from cover then retreating back to its den.

With two hours remaining on the penultimate day of testing, Stoffel Vandoorne finally returns to the track for the first time since before lunch in the McLaren.

Sebastian Vettel is well into his race simulation at the moment. He's just surpassed 100 laps for the day with his latest a 1:24.018 on medium tyres.

An improvement for Kevin Magnussen as a set of ultra-softs helps the Haas to a 1:20.504. They stay fifth but that's their best time in testing so far.
