Ok, we are done and done. Andrew Benson's report is being chiseled into shape by the BBC Sport elves as we speak - you can read it right here.

As for the action on the track, well yet again we have Valtteri Bottas atop the pile. Quickest in both sessions and already a two-time race winner this season, he is very much a threat to Lewis Hamilton's hopes this weekend.

Speaking of which, Mr Benson's excellent analysis of Bottas' title credentials is also to be recommended.

We'll be back with you for FP3 coverage from 09:30 BST tomorrow, when I will be hammering away at this keyboard and m'coll Gary Rose will be out and about at Silverstone, bounding around the place in a yellow jumpsuit like a modern-day Anneka Rice.

OK, the jumpsuit part isn't true but the rest is.

See you tomorrow.

I'm loving how many of us are tooling around on Google maps this Friday afternoon.

"The Mercedes looks to be three to five tenths up on the Ferrari on these runs," says Andrew Benson in the 5 live commentary box, before adding that he would be surprised if that was indeed the gap come race day.

Looking for an easy-to-digest breakdown of how Britain's 10 world champions have done at the British GP down the years?

Well, you're in luck.

Make mine a Martini

The chaps in the commentary box have been chatting about Minardi and, specifically, Pierluigi Martini in a Minardi.

So let's enjoy this lovely picture of him tackling Sainte Devote at Monaco in 1990.

Yellow flag

Kimi Raikkonen's Ferrari has been off, also at Chapel. He spins and gets his wheels caught in the gravel trap, but he escapes its gritty clutches and returns to the pits.

Yellow flag

Spin for Felipe Massa at Chapel.

"I just lost the rear," the Williams man says.

Long runs update

Andrew Benson will, of course, dissect all these long and short runs later on, adjusting for fuel and all that malarkey.

For now I'll just inform you that the Mercs are circulating the quickest of all on these runs, lapping in the 1:32s.

As a native of Kingston upon Hull I humbly and proudly submit this for your consideration.

If you blur your eyes it looks a bit like Monaco. Maybe.

Don't look too close though as I was in a hurry and I'm pretty sure it doesn't join up properly and may even go right through a branch of Currys.

It's all gone a bit static

The teams are concentrating on longer runs now so the order is relatively unchanged.

For the record, the top 10 is:

1 Bottas, 2 Hamilton, 3 Raikkonen, 4 Vettel, 5 Verstappen, 6 Ricciardo, 7 Hulkenberg, 8 Massa, 9 Alonso, 10 Ocon

Anyone for tennis?

Current F1 champion Nico Rosberg is enjoying the men's semi-finals at Wimbledon today, but we're pretty sure he might be making an appearance at the race on Sunday to cheer on his old team.

The Shetland Grand Prix

Another belter.

I think we should seriously lobby to have F1 staged in the Shetland Islands.

Spin for Palmer

A bit of a pirouette in Brooklands for the British driver in the Renault. He's down in P16 at the moment.

Damage on the Mercedes?

Hamilton ran over the grass during that moment in the fast sweeps before the Hanger Straight and he comes on the radio to report possible damage.

Vettel does a 1:28.9 - he's four tenths off Bottas' time. Raikkonen comes through with a similar time.

We wait for Hamilton to come through but an error at Becketts has spoiled his lap and he backs out of it.
