That's all folks

I'm signing off on what was a night to remember for Alastair Seeley as his Supersport win gave him a record 16th North West 200 victory.

Congratulations to the Wee Wizard and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Dan Cooper and Ryan Farquhar.

Ryan has chest and pelvic injuries while Dan sustained shoulder injuries.

We're back on Saturday morning for live text commentary on the six races including the Superbikes.

Racing abandoned

The incident involving Dan Cooper and Ryan Farquhar has resulted in an early end to Thursday night's racing. The opening Superstock race will now be moved to Saturday's programme.

Cooper and Farquhar in crash

Another update from race organisers on the Supertwins race.

"Two riders, Ryan Farquhar (KMR/SGS Kawasaki) and Dan Cooper (Dan Cooper Racing Kawasaki), crashed at Black Hill on the third lap of the Supertwins race.

"As a result the race was red flagged. Neither rider has suffered life threatening injuries. Dan Cooper will be taken to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine. Ryan Farquhar will be taken to hospital in Belfast."

Dan's the man

Dan Cooper moves in front in what is developing into another titanic duel with Ryan Farquhar. James Hillier is back in third but close enough to make a late charge.

Go! Go! Go!

They're away again and hopefully we'll get all four laps completed this time. Ryan Farquhar makes a blistering start and the Dungannon rider leads from James Hillier and Dan Cooper.

Supertwins restart

An update from the race organisers:

"The Supertwins race that was red flagged because of a fire incident in the vicinity of Station corner will restart at 7.45pm and will run over the full four laps distance."

Fire at Station Corner

Race organisers have released a statement:

"A fire at a property in the vicinity of Station Corner has led to the Supertwins race being red flagged on the second lap. Fire appliances are on their way to the scene."

Racing has been delayed to 19:40

Alastair Seeley will grab the headlines but the big crowd on a sun-kissed north coast have two more races to enjoy. The Supertwins burst away from the start line and Ryan Farquhar leads going into York Corner.

@BBC_Bikes What a fabulous first Thursday race. Staying up all night here in Australia. Congrats to the Wee Wizard! Thanks for commentary.

Seeley savours record win

Alastair Seeley, who also posted a lap record on his way to setting a new best of 16 victories, was delighted after making North West 200 history.

I'm speechless - totally overwhelmed. It was a dogfight out there but I felt on the last lap that I could push on to win. It's nice to finally get the record and I can sit back a little now.

Seeley's done it!

The 'Wee Wizard' breaks the record. Alastair Seeley moves clear of Robert Dunlop at the top of the winners list at the North West 200 with a 16th victory. He surged ahead late in the Supersport race to clinch a memorable success. Ian Hutchinson was second with Martin Jessop completing the podium places.

Brilliant stuff on the Triangle circuit as Ian Hutchinson moves ahead but Alastair Seeley and Lee Johnston are piling the pressure on the Englishman. Two laps to go

Seeley out in front

Alastair Seeley holds a narrow lead after two laps - can he break the record? The Carrickfergus rider is closely followed by Lee Johnston and Martin Jessop. It's a thriller!

Dunlop out

Michael Dunlop failed to make it off the grid and his hopes of a Supersport victory are dashed

Michael Dunlop's his bike is wheeled off the grid and he's a non starter in the Supersport

Go! Go! Go!

Race action starts at the 2016 North West 200 and Martin Jessop takes an early lead in the first of six laps
