I'm out of here for now. I'm off to get a posh frock on for the closing ceremony.

Get yourself a brew, maybe even a little snack, and join us for the end-of-Games shindig. Laters.

Right, we're close to winding this up for a little while.

We'll be back for the closing ceremony, which gives you time to watch Match of the Day.

I'm hearing word that there is currently a monster storm raging in Rio. Can they still have the closing ceremony in bad weather? Or would they quietly hand the flag over to Tokyo in the bar?

In terms of future Olympics, is it too late for me to campaign for darts to be included in Tokyo? Am I better off aiming for 2024?

Amar Ahmed: The best moment is the unexpected medals. Too many to mention. Canoeing, trampolining, hammer throwing.

It's Van Gool: My moment of games @BryonyPage1 silver, disbelief and joy was brilliant.

Russ Mitchell: Many great performances. Best: @JasonKenny107 winning 3rd Gold after threat of disqual. Greatness/coolness under pressure.

The Mongolian strip protest has just made it on to the Ten O'Clock News.

It might be the greatest thing I've ever seen, including Muse live at Leeds Festival

Naomi Edwards: The question now is who's going to win Sports Personality!???

Thoughts on the GB outfits for the closing ceremony? Are those red trainers the ones that flash in the dark. I'd quite like a pair of those.

Michael Oberlander: How to end Rio 2016? Simple, the apocalympics, lock the doors to the stadium and fight to the death.....

As a reminder, the closing ceremony begins at 00:00 and will run into the wee small hours. You're used to staying up late, to going without sleep, so give us one more effort. You've got four years to recover.

Mathew Fiford: How to end the Olympics? Put Maddie Hinch at the entrance to the stadium, the first person to get past her wins!

I've just been looking ahead to 2020. Tokyo is nine hours in front of the UK. That would mean the big athletics finals will be around lunch time and track cycling will be at breakfast.

The final score...

And here it is, the final medal table.

Chins up, Australia.

So the USA wrap up men's basketball  gold - the 15th time they've won it out of 19 Olympic finals.

That's the end of the action and what a fantastic Games it has been for the hosts Brazil - recording their most successful Olympics - and Team GB too, who became the fist post host to win more medals than their home Olympics with 67.

It's time for the BBC interactive crew in Rio to sign off after 17 days of action and 306 medal events. It's been a blast. Obrigada!

Gold Medal - USA

Men's final

There you have it. The 306th and final gold medal of the 2016 Olympic Games has been won by the United States men's basketball team.

They have wiped the floor with Serbia, winning the final 96-66.

The US finish with 45 golds in total.

Abbie Grisman: I already miss it!

Afghanistan have got a volunteer. I think they only had three athletes in their team, so maybe they've all gone home.

I've just been sent the list of all 207 flag-bearers for the closing ceremony. If I published them at one a minute from now on, it would take us past the start.

Safe to say the USA are bossing this final, 79-43 up after the third quarter.

The crowd are happy and participating in every "cam" going. We've had flag cam, kiss cam, bongo cam and muscle cam. Basketball fans sure know how to have a good time at Games!

T Skepper: End the Olympics with Tug Of War as the final medal. Straight knockout. All competitors to have competed in an earlier sport.

Then again, given the way GB dominates in the velodrome, that theory could put an end to track cycling.

Men's final

Three quarters of the way through this contest, otherwise known as the American coronation.

The US are 79-43 up on Serbia.

The States have won every gold medal bar one since 1992. The women have won all bar one since 1984.

When they come to decide which sports are in the Olympics, should they take into account the possibility for one nation to dominate?

Sir Steve Redgrave

It is so difficult to pick a moment. What is special about the Olympics is the 28 sports coming together.

The Brownlees were outstanding but my moment was Maddie Hinch saving the penalty in the first half of the hockey.

Joodles: How to end the Olympics? Massive game of British Bulldog, obviously! Last one standing wins the world!

More thoughts on my end-of-Games super-event. I think I might have the combat and ball sports in first. Win those and you get a little head start in the mega-relay.
