Goodbye

As Jacques Burger and his Namibia team wave goodbye to the Exeter crowd, it is time for us to bid farewell too.

Make sure you join us again on Friday to see if Tonga can shock New Zealand and snatch that automatic qualification spot from Georgia's grasp. Until then...

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Heart-warming scenes on the Sandy Park pitch as the Georgia players celebrate their win by chanting and hoisting Mamuka Gorgodze into the autumn air. They know that they are likely to finish third in Pool C - therefore booking automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup. That's presuming Tonga don't pip them to third by beating the All Blacks of course...

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Namibia might have suffered their 18th straight World Cup defeat but they can be proud of earning their first point at the tournament.

With 12 minutes left, that didn't look like a possibility. But Theuns Kotze's try - and his boot - gave Georgia a fright.

Battle of the big men

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Renaldo Bothma was key to Namibia's resurgence at the end of the match, while Mamuka Gorgodze guided Georgia to the win.

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Time's up! Lasha Malaguradze's weak drop-goal attempt bobbles out behind the try-line... just as the clock ticks past the 80-minute mark. Georgia win - but only just. Their players celebrate as the tired Namibian team collapse to the turf.

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Indeed the Georgian pack do keep the ball close to the breakdown, eventually trying to tee up Lasha Malaguradze for a drop-goal. He scuffs his attempt badly but it actually works out for the better...

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Georgia win a line-out, play it safe and set up a driving maul. Not only are they edging their way into the Namibian half, but they are also running down the clock. Can't see the Georgians trying anything silly here...

Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Namibia have never won a World Cup match remember. In fact, they have never even earned a bonus point at a World Cup. That is surely about to change...

Converted try - Namibia 16-17 Georgia

Theuns Kotze, con Theuns Kotze

Game on! Namibia work the ball out wide to the left where fly-half Theuns Kotze barges his way over the line - just. And he measures his kick perfectly from the touchline to bring Namibia within a point of their opponents. Do. Not. Go. Anywhere.

Namibia 9-17 Georgia

The decibel levels go up a notch as Namibia number eight Renaldo Botha clatters his way through the Georgian defence. The Exeter crowd, who saw them fight back against Tonga last time out, would love it - love it - if they crossed here...

Penalty - Namibia 9-17 Georgia

Theuns Kotze

Hang on a minute! These Namibians are plucky bunch you know. They might be tiring but still manage to win a penalty after a Georgian infringement at the breakdown. Fly-half Theuns Kotze slams the ball over the sticks to keep them within touching distance.

Penalty - Namibia 6-17 Georgia

Merab Kvirikashvili

Namibian indiscipline gives Georgia a shot at goal from a central position - which Merab Kvirikashvili gleefully takes. Daylight between the two teams now.

Namibia 6-14 Georgia

Georgia are turning the screw now. Giving the tiring Namibian defence plenty to think about, while plugging any gaps that the Africans think they might be able to exploit.

Namibia 6-14 Georgia

Georgia are hogging both possession and territory, now full of confidence after finally breaking down Namibia. Seems of when, not if, they will cross again. Full-back Merab Kvirikashvili scuttles off after his own grubber kick, but Namibia back Heinrich Smit is wise to his plan and cuts out the danger behind the sticks.

Namibia 6-14 Georgia

Namibia  number eight Renaldo Bothma jogs back onto the pitch after his self-inflicted 10-minute absence. Huge roars around Sandy Park greet him - I think it is more to do with a Mexican Wave going around the ground than his return.

Namibia 6-14 Georgia

Can Namibia haul themselves back into this match? Well they need to have 15 men on the field first if they are going to stand any chance. The African side are looking a little leggy, brilliantly-named centre Darryl De La Harpe running out of steam as he tries to make progress down the left flank.

Lasha Malaguradze, con Merab Kvirikashvili

The floodgates are opening! A Georgian line-out throw goes deep, allowing Giorgi Tkhilaishvili to barge towards the line, before a great offload from the back-rower finds supporting fly-half Lasha Malaguradze. Easy dive over and Georgia are firmly in command now.

Namibia 6-7 Georgia

And Namibia's misery at relinquishing the lead is compounded by Renaldo Bothma seeing yellow for that crude high tackle in the run-up to Georgia's try. Looks like an uphill task for Namibia now...

Converted try - Namibia 6-7 Georgia

Mamuka Gorgodze, con Merab Kvirikashvili

Finally! Georgia eventually make their dominance count, as referee George Clancy plays advantage after a high tackle, when talisman Mamuka Gorgodze scatters a pair of Namibian defenders to crash over the line. Merab Kvirikashvili knocks the extras as the lead slips out of Namibia's grasp.

Namibia 6-0 Georgia

How have Georgia not scored? Full-back Merab Kvirikashvili slices through the Namibia defence but holds on too long before seeking out support on the left flank. Namibia wing David Philander nips in to intercept.

Namibia 6-0 Georgia

The ball is like a bar of soap in Georgian hands at the moment. Another knock on allows Namibia to kick deep.

Namibia 6-0 Georgia

Namibia come tearing out of the blocks, trying to punch a hole in the right side of the Georgian defence. Georgia win the turnover, try to run the ball out of their 22, but guess what....another handling error stops their momentum.

A good omen for Namibia?

Georgia have scored a total of seven second-half points in their three previous World Cup matches this year.

Half-time

Namibia 6-0 Georgia

How Namibia are actually winning is the mystery here. Georgia have dominated all the stats - attack, defence, the breakdown, set-pieces. But they haven't dominated the one stat that really matters. And that's the one at the top of this entry.

A half that long has the rugby world talking, including former England winger Ugo Monye

Just the casual 68min half!!! #RWC 😂

Half-time

Namibia 6-0 Georgia

That half could have gone on for another 68 minutes and Namibia would still be happy if the scoreline remained 6-0 in their favour. That cumbersome end to the first half has almost detracted from the fact Namibia are leading at half-time of a World Cup match for the first time.

Georgia are finally over! Oh, hang on. Referee George Clancy - the star of the  show so far - thinks he has spotted something dodgy. And he is right. A forward pass in the build-up chalks that one off and finally, the Irish ref toots his half-time whistle. Just the 68-minute first half there. Go and grab yourself a cuppa. You deserve it.

Replacement prop Johan Coetzee has only been on the pitch for five minutes - when his front-row pal Raoul Larson was binned. But he joins Larson on the bench for repeatedly causing infringements in the scrum.

Namibia 6-0 Georgia

Georgian scrum on the five-metre line. And they now have their hooker Jaba Bregvadze back on the field. Is the Namibian defence going to hold out? Is this half ever going to end??
