That's all folks

Well, what an afternoon of action that was.

Plenty of talking points and surprises too. You can read all about it on the rugby unions page of the BBC Sport website.

We'll be back tomorrow with the final action from round four between Leicester and Bath.

Join us then - for now, we'll leave the final word with the day's headline-makers Harlequins who defeated last season's champions Saracens.

Time's up

Well, caught your breath after all that action?

We'll wrap things up and remind you of the scores shortly....

Northampton 15-20 Wasps

The answer is no and yet again it's a knock-on that scuppers Northampton.

That's sadly characterised their performance today, but for Wasps, they have won four from four and will go top of the table tonight.

Northampton 15-20 Wasps

Clock's in the red, but Saints have taken the restart.

Can they run in a huge winner from their own half?

Penalty (Myler)

Northampton 15-20 Wasps

Northampton take a chance for a losing bonus point at least and Stephen Myler kicks over three points.

Could they even steal this with 15 seconds to play?

Worcester 34-34 Sale

In an epic finish, Worcester do enough to hold on for a draw against Sale Sharks.

Sharks were down 31-17 in the second half, but tries from Neil Briggs and Halani Aulika helped the visitors square things up at Sixways.

Another incredible game at Sixways in what was another nail-biter and Warriors end up with three points - as do Sale.

Try (Bassett, con Gopperth)

Northampton 12-20 Wasps

And the try is given after a review. Josh Bassett has scored it and in the build-up, there's also a yellow card for Ken Pisi as he's been judged to have unfairly tripped Dan Robson.

Wasps broke away there after a couple of knock-ons and they reacted quicker to the chance of a counter-attack.

Jimmy Gopperth adds the conversion.

Northampton 12-13 Wasps

Saints on the charge once more. Wasps down to 14 men, can they hold on?

Gloucester 13-18 Newcastle

And the first game of the afternoon comes to an end, with Newcastle triumphing over Gloucester at Kingsholm.

That is Falcons' second win of the season and first in the Premiership at Kingsholm since 2012.

Congratulations to @FalconsRugby who take the win. Dreadful day at the office from Gloucester, who never got going. Sorry folks! #GLOSvNEW

Gloucester's media team have not minced their words with this tweet, apologising to fans.

Try (Kessell, con Myler)

Northampton 12-13 Wasps

And it didn't take long for Saints to capitalise on that man advantage.

Tom Kessell is able to barge the ball over from three metres out as he takes a cheeky opportunist try from the base of the ruck.

Stephen Myler adds the extras.

We're a one-point game with less than five minutes to play...

Harlequins 17-10 Saracens

Ruaridh Jackson make the vital final turnover and as Craig Maxwell-Keys' whistle blows the Twickenham Stoop erupts with glee.

Harlequins have beaten Saracens and have ended the reigning champions 13 match winning run in all competitions.

Sin-bin (Hughes)

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Referee Luke Pearce has had enough of Wasps infringing at the maul and he shows Nathan Hughes a yellow card.

Wasps have got to play this out with just 14 players....

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

More Saints pressure in the Wasps 22, but still the visitors have enough to keep them out.

Penalty conceded and Saints go for the catch-and-drive....

Penalty (Spencer)

Harlequins 17-10 Saracens

Ben Spencer, who is onto the field at scrum-half, has taken over the kicking duties and his first kick sails through the uprights.

There's now three minutes left to play and Saracens are within a converted try of their hosts.

Nervous times for Harlequins and their fans!

Worcester 34-34 Sale; Gloucester 13-18 Newcastle

Just a few minutes remaining in the other matches, and we have a few crackers.

Alan MacGinty converts a late try from Halani Aulika and AJ MacGinty converts to make it 34-34. Thrilling stuff at Sixways.

At Kingsholm, Greig Laidlaw lands a penalty to reduce the arrears for Gloucester. They are now 13-17 behind against Newcastle.

Sin-bin (Horwill)

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

Saracens have kicked for the corner and now it's a real test for Harlequins defence.

We've got five minutes left to play and James Horwill is given a yellow card... are we going to get a box office finish? Harlequins will have to try and hold on with 14 men

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Knock-on again by Northampton!

They've let themselves down in the final phase today. Courtney Lawes is the latest to spurn an attacking move from the hosts.

Stephen Myler chose the short pass to the second row instead of floating it out wide where there were numbers, including George North.

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Into the closing stages at Franklin's Gardens and this one could still go either way.

Northampton keep banging on the door and Wasps have the answers in defence.

They also have the threat on the counter to put this one to bed, Nathan Hughes among them.

Harlequins on the charge

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

We're into the final ten minutes and there's a touch of panic creeping in for Saracens right now.

Harlequins have the ball in their hands and are looking to extend their lead.

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Ben Foden's afternoon is over for Northampton as he's replaced by Ahsee Tuala.

Foden had his blushes spared a few moments ago when he screwed a clearance kick from his own try area straight into Wasps hands.

But, Saints numbers were there to shove Jimmy Gopperth out of touch. Josh Bassett then looks in for a try in the far corner before Saints once more scramble across.

Worcester 31-27 Sale; Gloucester 10-18 Newcastle

At Kingsholm, the hosts have it all to do with 15 minutes remaining after Alex Tait grabs a try to put Newcastle 18-10 up against Gloucester.

Meanwhile, Sale are doing a good job of roaring back into the contest at Sixways with a converted Neil Briggs try putting them within four points of Worcester.

Another missed chance

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

Luke Wallace suffers a lapse in concentration and is pinged for being offside.

Alex Lozowski lines up the penalty but again misses the target and the home fans breathe a sigh of relief with 12 minutes to go.

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Bit of a hold up in the game after James Gaskell goes off for a head injury.

Northampton once more try to forge their way through from an attacking line-out, but it's another handling error by Saints. Ken Pisi the culprit this time.

Off the post

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

Earlier in the match Saracens turned down opportunities for three points but now, with 62 minutes gone, Alex Lozowski lines up a penalty.

Agonisingly the fly-half hits the post and they remain ten points behind their hosts.

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Northampton replacement Teimana Harrison is adjudged to have caught Christian Wade a touch high with a tackle.

Wasps don't take advantage though as they give a penalty away from the attacking line-out.

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Finally a bit of rest for Northampton as a decision goes their way along the edge of their 22.

Elliot Daly holds on to the ball too long and Saints try to get themselves going after being stretched on several occasions in this second half - most notably by Guy Thompson's earlier break.

Heating up in South West London

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

We're edging towards the end of the third quarter at The Twickenham Stoop and the hosts are under a spot of pressure.

The visitors are dominating the possession but right now are being held up and after a rare handling error from Saracens a few handbags arrive!

Missed penalty (Daly)

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

Half a chance missed for Wasps to go even further ahead through the long-range boot of Elliot Daly.

The centre has a reputation for putting those over, even from 49 metres out, but this left-foot effort goes just wide right.

Relief for Kieran Brookes after he was penalised for going off his feet.

Worcester 31-17 Sale; Gloucester 10-10 Newcastle

And we turn our attentions back to the other action in the Premiership for a moment.

A Wynand Olivier try after the break helps put Worcester even further ahead. Ryan Lamb added the extras to pass 1,000 career points in the Premiership. Sale have Byron McGuigan sin-binned for a  foul in back play.

Worcester Warriors' Wynand Olivier

Oh, and it gets worse for Sale. The television match official then has a good, long look at replays before Jamie Shillcock can celebrate his second try for the hosts. And they lead 31-17.

And glance across to Kingsholm, and it stays the same - 10-10 after 55 minutes.

Penalty (Gopperth)

Northampton 5-13 Wasps

First points registered in this second half at Franklin's Gardens.

Jimmy Gopperth with a second penalty of the game after Northampton were punished for another infringement at the scrum.

Gopperth makes no mistake from nearly 40 metres back.

Missed opportunity

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

In the opening ten minutes of this second half the momentum has been in Saracens favour. Harlequins have a chance to redress the balance slightly but Tim Sweil's penalty hits the post and their lead stays at ten points.

Northampton 5-10 Wasps

Guy Thompson is a bit of a battering ram in the back row for Wasps.

The flanker barges his way through both Louis Picamoles and Ken Pisi as he carries Wasps forward a good 40 metres.

Northampton looking a bit jaded after that burst.

Another electric break by Guy Thompson through midfield - around & through three tackles.Gopperth in support. Wasps get to within 5m of line

Saracens spark

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

Saracens have been ignited by their try and look set to score another but a huge tackle from Harlequins' Chris Robshaw stops Brad Barritt and the pressure is relieved.

Elsewhere Danny Care has taken a bit of a knock and leaves the field. The Harlequins captain will be disappointed to only have played 47 minutes of this huge encounter.

Cipriani goes off

Northampton 5-10 Wasps

That latest bit of desperate defence from Wasps has sadly been the last involvement for Danny Cipriani.

His 100th Wasps appearance is brought to an early conclusion through injury. Kyle Eastmond is on in his place - not a bad person to call on as a replacement.

Northampton 5-10 Wasps

Northampton just lacking that cutting edge in this game.

Ken Pisi is there on a couple of occasions to burst through the defence but an offload from number eight Louis Picamoles is just too far ahead of the winger for him to barge through from four metres out.

Knock-on and Wasps can suck it up again and reorganise.

Try (Wigglesworth, con Lozowski)

Harlequins 17-7 Saracens

You expect that Mark McCall will had a few choice words for his side at half-time and their response is instantaneous.

Mike Ellery chips and collects out wide before finding Richard Wigglesworth on his shoulder. Alex Lozowski adds the conversion and the visitors are up and running.

Northampton 5-10 Wasps

We're a tiny bit behind the rest of the action at Franklin's Gardens, but we're back under way for the second half.

So, we are into the second half in today's Premiership offering.

How do you feel your side is getting on?

I'll say now, it's hard to read the reaction of Newcastle Falcons director of rugby Dean Richards. Is it a wink, as in "eyyy, these guys"? Or is it more, "I simply can't watch"? Newcastle are locked 10-10 with Gloucester at the moment.

What a first half. Harlequins clinical early, heroic later. Saracens not out of this despite 17-0 HT score @BBCLondonSport #bbcrugby

Great listening to Harlequins #bbcrugby playing so well whilst on my sun bed with a beer in Rhodes. Watch out for Tim Sweil this year.

Harlequins 17-0 Saracens

The teams are back out at Twickenham Stoop and Saracens have a second half mountain to climb.

We're back underway at Sixways and Kingsholm too!
