FT: Wasps 21-20 Leicester

Wasps scrum-half Joe Simpson on BBC Radio 5 live:

"We know we've got the talent and fitness to last all 80 minutes and sometimes it comes down to that.

"We scrapped and we battled and the resolve of the boys to drag us back into the match was just phenomenal. We kept banging on the door and finally it opened for us.

"It's the first time in a few years we've been in the final and we're absolutely thrilled."

A return to Twickenham for Wasps

FT: Wasps 21-20 Leicester

Dai Young just mentioned Wasps had not been in a Premiership final for a number of years.

Nine to be precise. Not since they were champions in 2008.

'We want to enjoy it'

FT: Wasps 21-20 Leicester

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young tells BT Sport:

"We want to go and enjoy it [the final] but if we get turned over we'll still be disappointed.

"We're thrilled to have a final, we haven't had one for a number of years. The best way to enjoy it is to win."

'We threw the kitchen sink at them'

FT: Wasps 21-20 Leicester

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young tells BT Sport:

"Nobody leaves early here. I thought the boys showed a lot of guts to come back and win. We threw the kitchen sink at them.

"We blew a few opportunities but we didn't give up and just kept going."

Huge, huge credit to both

It really was a classic.

There will be a few bruised bodies in the Exeter and Wasps sides though. Both semi-finals were epic battles.

They'll need the full seven days to recover.

Phew, Joe Launchbury sounded out of breath. I'm out of breath. It was a monumental last 10 minutes.

Next Saturday's final can't come around quick enough!

'It was a real battle'

FT: Wasps 21-20 Leicester

Wasps lock Joe Launchbury told BT Sport:

"I'm delighted to get the win. I'd be lying if I said it went to plan. It was a real battle. I'm delighted with the character of the guys and looking forward to next week.

We've tasked ourselves to come and enjoy these big games. For large parts we came unstuck but to win at the end I'm delighted."

'They gambled and it paid off'

What a mouth-watering prospect the final is.

But credit to Leicester, they gave it everything. Technically savvy in defence, but Wasps just held their nerve and had that moment of magic.

They went for the corner, they gambled and it paid off.

WASPS ARE INTO THE PREMIERSHIP FINAL!

What absolute drama at the end. Ecstasy for Wasps, absolute heartbreak for Leicester.

It's another thrilling semi-final, an absolute pleasure to follow.

Dai Young's men will meet Exeter at Twickenham next Saturday.

Reaction coming up...

Wasps 21-20 Leicester

Leicester kick off but James Gaskell claims it for Wasps.

They just need to hold onto the ball for another minute.

'The Ricoh Arena erupts'

Chris Jones on BBC Radio 5 live:

Josh Bassett in the corner and the Ricoh Arena erupts!

Try (Bassett, missed con Gopperth)

THEY'VE DONE IT! Josh Bassett scores in the corner for Wasps. The Ricoh goes absolutely bonkers.

It just had to come. Wasps were piling men forward, Leicester resisted everything they threw at them, but eventually the pressure was just too much.

The ball is worked out to replacement wing Bassett and he finishes the move beautifully.

There's a slight delay for the conversion as Freddie Burns is down, and Jimmy Gopperth sends it wide.

That could be a big moment.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Wasps are knocking on the door. They're just a few metres short of the Leicester try-line.

PRESSURE. HUGE.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Wasps penalty. Leicester infringe at the scrum and the ball is kicked into the corner.

Wasps need a try. It's so, so loud at the Ricoh Arena now.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Wasps are buckling under the pressure here. A line-out is knocked on by James Gaskell and it's a scrum to Leicester.

'Needed composure'

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Paul Grayson

Former England fly-half on BBC Radio 5 live

Danny Cipriani with his head in his hands after trying to offload that pass to Thomas Young.

He just needed to keep his composure and make sure he got the pass in. That was a clear-cut opportunity with some brilliant magic from Cipriani.

Are Wasps going to get another one like that?

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

THAT WAS THE CHANCE FOR WASPS!

Thomas Young breaks, Jimmy Gopperth is inside and ready to sprint through to the try-line but Young's pass is just behind the fly-half and the ball bounces away.

Heads in hands everywhere.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Play resumes but Wasps are inside their own half.

Eight minutes left for them to preserve their unbeaten home record this season and more importantly reach the Premiership final.

Bodies on the floor everywhere!

Everyone can see how much this Wasps all-out attack and Leicester all-out defence has taken out of both sides.

Absolutely toe-to-toe from both teams, incredible stuff!

It tells you something when the referee has to take on some water in a stoppage in play.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

And breathe. Nathan Hughes is down for Wasps, the ball is being switched from side to side by the hosts, but Leicester are resisting everything.

Eventually the ball is kicked into touch by Tigers' try-scorer Telusa Veainu.

Both sides use the break to make changes.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Wasps are just metres short.

Can Tigers hold out?

Yes they can - the ball goes loose and it's booted clear!

A cracking atmosphere

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

It's being ramped up at the moment.

Wasps are attacking and just outside the Leicester 22.

No way through though.

'Can Leicester exploit space?'

Some fresh legs are on for both teams, but this is what it's all about.

How deep into a game can you go and hold it together?

Leicester exploiting that space out wide with their pace could be a devastating blow for Wasps.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Christian Wade has been extremely quiet for Wasps so far.

Can he provide a moment of magic to take him past Dom Chapman's record number of tries in a season?

Wade is currently level with the Richmond man with 17.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Scrum, reset, scrum. You get the picture.

Finally the ball is kicked into touch by Leicester and it's a Wasps line-out.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

It's end-to-end, frantic play at the moment. Wasps and England lock Joe Launchbury somehow finds himself on the wing, but is then adjudged to have made a forward pass inside to Josh Bassett.

Scrum to Leicester.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Oh my word, things are heating up now.

Wasps are on the attack but Telusa Veainu steals the ball and gallops down the touchline.

Willie le Roux tracks him all the way and barges the wing into touch.

This is going to be a cracking end folks! Stay right here.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

It's a hugely emotional moment at the Ricoh as Leicester captain Tom Youngs comes off.

The whole stadium stands and applauds the hooker whose wife Tiffany has terminal cancer.

He's played his part today. Can his side see it through for the final 20 minutes?

Wasps just can't get their hands on the ball.

They won their own restart, but Leicester have the edge in the breakdown and are getting the penalties.

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

It's all Leicester now. James Haskell is punished for an infringement at the scrum and Tigers get the penalty.

Freddie Burns kicks into touch - line-out just in front of the 22.

'You felt it was coming'

Wasps 16-20 Leicester

Paul Grayson

Ashley Johnson had to get the ball over the top, there were five Wasps players waiting for the counter.

But Leicester kept probing and probing and probing and Freddie Burns got it through his hands quick and exploited the space for the numbers out wide.

Fantastic try for Leicester and you felt it was coming.

Try (Veainu, con Burns)

Telusa Veainu puts Leicester Tigers ahead! Huge, huge try.

Leicester are camped on the Wasps try-line, the ball works it way out wide and Veainu is in acres of space to scramble home.

Freddie Burns adds another two points. The Leicester fans are roaring.

Wasps 16-13 Leicester

There's all sorts of back slapping and high fives going on between the Leicester pack.

They win a penalty as a scrum collapses. The ball is kicked into touch and Tigers have a line-out in Wasps' half.

Wasps 16-13 Leicester

It was a sad sight to see Wasps' try-scorer Kurtley Beale limping off.

The Australian is heading back to his homeland at the end of this season.

Is that the last time we'll see him in a Wasps jersey?

The 28-year-old is replaced by Josh Bassett.

Beale off injured for Wasps

Wasps 16-13 Leicester

Dan Cole is back up on his feet and looks okay though.

I think even if he was injured he wouldn't go off.

Ah, now Wasps centre Kurley Beale has a problem and is heading off. That's his game done. It looked like he pulled up with a leg strain of some sort.

Wasps 16-13 Leicester

Leicester and England prop Dan Cole is down on his haunches and looks in a bit of pain.

Tigers will not want to see him go off. He's one man you want on the front line.
