For me though, that is it for today.

But come back later for Radio 5 live sports extra's coverage of Lleyton Hewitt v David Ferrer.

Thanks for your company and have a good day.

A decent third-round draw awaits Andy Murray.

Portugal's Joao Sousa, ranked 33, beat Colombia's Santiago Giraldo 6-3 7-5 3-6 6-1 earlier.

He has never gone beyond the third round in any grand slam.

Murray will take that.

Player reaction

Andy Murray: "It is nice to play different styles. Sam is different, coming to the net a lot but when he serves well it is easy to get impatient.

"He didn't start serving well but in the second set it became much tougher.

"I was standing next to him in the locker room before the match and he was saying to someone it was his first time on Rod Laver, He had never even hit before on it.

"I thought 'good'."

Murray also reveals he named one of his dogs after Australian Lleyton Hewitt.

BBC Radio 5 Live

British Davis Cup doubles player Colin Fleming: "He has had nice straight set victories, has looked in shape and conserved his energy for tougher tests ahead."

Game, set and match

Groth 0-6 4-6 1-6 Murray

A nasty end for Sam Groth as he turns his ankle at the net on the opening point as another Murray shot flies past him.

He hobbles back to the baseline but, latching onto a Murray drop shot, fires a backhand down the line to level at 15-15. His ankle looked okay there.

Murray down the line and he is two points from the match. A Groth forehand winner delays the inevitable but an ace brings about match point.

Another ace and it is over. Brilliant from Murray. Over in 90 minutes.

Murray breaks!

Groth 0-6 4-6 1-5 Murray*

Groth is passed again, this time by a Murray backhand. The Australian keeps coming forward but it is almost as though he isn't there for the Brit.

A couple of Groth errors, following good Murray returns, and we have three more break points.

A lob.... just wide from Murray. A second break point saved by a punched Groth volley and deuce following an unreturnable first serve.

The Australian is fighting. But another break point after another backhand service return winner. That sums it up. Groth hammers down a serve, can see Murray is going to smash past another return, and challenges his own serve.

It was in and another break. Murray serving for the match.

I'm questioning if this is even @andy_murray on the court at the moment #bbctennis #brutal

*Groth 0-6 4-6 1-4 Murray

An extended rally at the baseline and, as seems the norm, Murray wins out as Groth nets.

Ever the perfectionist, the Brit is angry with himself as he double fault but 30-15 Murray, with Groth sending a high lob out from deep.

That isn't pretty from Murray, who gets his feet all wrong and nets a forehand. 30-30.

Game point though and Groth nets. The end is nigh.

Groth 0-6 4-6 1-3 Murray*

A rare moment for Sam Groth.

He holds his serve to love.

Big cheers. All a bit too late though surely?

#bbctennis Murray looking good in the early rounds. Is this the year he goes one step further? Who knows, I'm not a mind ready people.

*Groth 0-6 4-6 0 3-0 Murray

Sam Groth

Sam Groth just wants to be out of here.

Andy Murray might not take long to finish this off, although Groth shows some defiance as he swipes a backhand away from the net.

Murray wins the game to 30.

Murray breaks!

Groth 0-6 4-6 0-2 Murray*

Stunning. Groth sends down a big first serve, Murray reaches and sends a winner past. Another service return winner from Murray, this time on the back hand.

Groth comes forward on another first serve but volleys out. Break point.

He's done it - again. He has Groth on string. The Australian's drop volley is met by Murray, who lobs Groth. He makes it but his shot from between his legs is volleyed away into an empty court.

*Groth 0-6 4-6 0-1

This is going swimmingly for Andy Murray.

Another inch-perfect forehand lob gives him 30-0 in the opening game of the second set.

An ace wins the game to 15.

#bbctennis well done again Johanna what a great run your putting together, and come on mr Murray no wobbles please

Game and second set

Groth 0-6 4-6 Murray*

The perfect start. A backhand service return winner down the line from Murray.

An ace cancels that out. 15-15. Double fault though and a sniff of a break.

More than a sniff. Two set points as Murray sends a brilliant backhand winner down the line after a good pickup volley from Groth.

The first is saved as Murray returns into the net but not the second. Murray jigs in celebration as Groth volleys wide.

Sam Groth is having a row with the ball boy after dumping a backhand into the net. Too slow with the towel apparently.

Great defence from Murray, who reacts to a Groth overhead with a delicate passing shot from mid court. Good hands.

An ace and Murray holds to love.

Groth serving to stay in the second set.

Groth 0-6 4-4 Murray*

Have we got a match on our hands?

Murray returns long and out and Groth is 30-0 up with a wicked cross court forehand winner. He is finding the sweet spot at last.

A double fault make it 30-15 but game point as he serves and volleys. An ace finishes the game off for Groth.

He looks a different player.

Groth breaks!

*Groth 0-6 3-4 Murray

Sam Groth keeps coming forward and he keeps getting passed. Murray sends a backhand past the Australian at the net from mid court.

That is better from Groth though as booming forehand clips the line to level at 15-15 and he follows that up with a cross court winner, after reacting quickly to Murray's drop shot. 15-30.

Murray levels at 30-30 but break point Groth - his first - as, after exchanging shots at the baseline, Murray nets.

He's done it. Murray sends a forehand long and Groth has broken.

Groth 0-6 2-4 Murray*

Another Sam Groth game - and that was easy.

The Australian throws down an ace, a couple of big first serves and is this a sign he is finally getting something going?

He wins to 15 as Murray nets on the run after Groth's forehand down the line.

Watching Murray against the big servers is one of the best things in tennis. Negates them all so well. Murray in 3. #bbctennis

*Groth 0-6 1-4 Murray

Andy Murray won't let that rattle him as he races into a 40-0 lead.

Sam Groth does at least show some character with a winning backhand down the line - we haven't see many of those from the Australian - but he then goes long for another game for the Brit.

Groth 0-6 1-3 Murray*

He is human. A couple of Andy Murray errors give Sam Groth some breathing space at last.

40-0 now as he sends an ace down. His first game of the match?

Yes. He punches the air as another ace finally breaks his duck. It only took 43 minutes.

*Groth 0-6 0-3 Murray

Is there anything Murray can't do at the moment? He puts an angled overhead backhand away to take a 30-0 lead and an ace gives him game point.

Groth has no answers. A desperate swing of the racket and another forehand into the net.

Another hold to love.

Murray breaks!

Groth 0-6 0-2 Murray*

A nice angled backhand volley at the net from Groth opens the game but back to 15-15 as the Australian stoops and volleys just long after another low Murray return.

More trouble for Groth as Murray again picks up his serve and returns at his feet. Groth nets.

An ace - at last. The Aussie has waited 36 minutes for that as he levels at 30-30.

Another break point though as Groth again volleys into the net. Murray breaks again as his return is volleyed wide. The home crowd are stunned.

*Groth 0-6 0-1 Murray

Andy Murray

This is just relentless from Andy Murray. An ace is followed by a brilliant winning forehand lob on the run.

Sam Groth looks a beaten man as he sends a routine forehand well long.

Groth 0-6 Murray*

An impeccable first set from Andy Murray.

Thirteen winners from the Brit.

Sam Groth, heavily reliant on his big serve, has yet to hit an ace. Murray has two aces to his name.

The Australian looks a tad bit dazed.

Game and first set

Groth 0-6 Murray

An ace for Sam Groth as he wins a rare cheap point and he is 30-0 up with Andy Murray, going for the winner, sending a fierce forehand inches long.

A smash bounces over Murray's head, as Groth deals with an attempted lob, but the Australian is lobbed after putting a forehand volley onto the backhand of Murray.

Groth is so close to the net and Murray brings it back to deuce with a sumptuous forehand lob. Murray wins a challenge, with a passing shot touching the line, for deuce again.

That is brilliant. An angled backhand pass from Murray sets up break point and another stunning return from the Brit is too good. Set Murray.

BBC Radio 5 Live

British Davis Cup doubles player Colin Fleming on BBC Radio 5 live: "Sam Groth is looking at his box and asking questions. Murray is well in control. This is a tough place to be right now for Sam Groth. This is ugly."

*Groth 0-5 Murray

Andy Murray is in total control.

A couple of aces and Groth is back serving to stay in the match.

A service hold to love from the Brit.

Murray breaks!

Groth 0-4 Murray*

You could sense some frustration in that.

At deuce, Andy Murray attempts another lob from mid court and Groth fires an overhead winner.

Back to deuce as Groth dumps another volley into the net and another break point Murray as the Australian volleys low into the net after a dipping Murray return.

Murray gets that one. A couple of approach shots are volleyed back to him, before a smart backhand passes the helpless Aussie. What a start.

*Groth 0-3 Murray

What is Sam Groth's reaction? A booming first serve that misses and a second serve that is right in Murray's hitting zone and he rifles a backhand winner past the stunned Aussie.

Groth wins a couple of cheap points after big first serves and it is 30-30 as he volleys long.

Danger again. Groth sends another volley into the net, this one is saved as a quick first serve sees Murray return wide.

Groth saves another break point, a strong volley forcing Murray into the net, and another with an unreturnable first serve. It goes on.

*Groth 0-3 Murray

Andy Murray

A shake of the head from a very tight-looking Sam Groth. He is a nervous man as he quickly goes 30-0 behind on Murray's serve.

He is being given the run around now. A drop shot, followed by a lob and it is 40-15.

A perfect start for the Brit with Murray 3-0 up after 10 minutes as Groth sends a wild return out.

Murray breaks!

Groth 0-2 Murray*

Take that Sam Groth. The Australian puts in a solid second serve, a strong deep volley as he comes to the net, but can only look over his shoulder despairingly as Murray lobs him for 0-15.

Huge applause from the home crowd meets Groth's first point of the match and he leads 30-15 as he punches a delicious low backhand volley across court for a winner.

There is little rhythm to this as he follows up with a double fault but does earn game point with a first serve that Murray can only send out.

Deuce as Groth sends a backhand long and now break point as Murray passes. Ouch. Groth dumps a volley into the net and Murray breaks.

*Groth 0-1 Murray

Andy Murray wins the first point of the match as Sam Groth returns long. An early sign of the Australian's intentions as he comes to the net but it is 30-0 as he volleys beyond the baseline.

The perfect start for Murray, who wins the game to love, sending a winning backhand down the line after Groth nets.

Good start.

BBC Radio 5 Live

British Davis Cup doubles player Colin Fleming on BBC Radio 5 live:It is going to be an interesting match. I'm not expcting long rallies, it is going to be smack-bang tennis.

We are under way. Andy Murray to serve.

An Aussie ace

Back to Andy Murray and what he has in front of him... power, and a lot of it.

Sam Groth is ranked 67th in the world and has the world's fastest recorded serve of 163mph.

He has reached the Australian Open third round once before - last year - and made the French Open doubles semi-final in 2014.

Whatever happens in the next few hours, Murray can expect plenty of aces flying past him. It could be all about patience.

Groth v Murray

Sam Groth is putting his serve through it's paces.

You don't envy Andy Murray facing those bullets. They are huge.

Groth, with his cap on the wrong way, looks up for this.
