Bye for now

I would expect that Andy Murray's meeting with either Milos Raonic or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will be the second match on in tomorrow's semi-final schedule.

With play due to start at 11:00 GMT, I reckon you can expect Murray on court at around 13:00 GMT.

See you there. Bye for now.

"I have never been in this position before"

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 7-5 Berdych

Andy Murray speaking to Sky Sports: "I played some good points in the tie-break and he played some bad ones, I just fought as hard as I could and served well in those moments. I had a few net cords on big points and that helped.

"The double fault in the tie-break is one of those things that can happen but it did not affect me for the rest of the match and that is positive

"Maybe there are a few more nerves today knowing that the world number one was possible but once you are out there on court it didn't bother me.

"I have never been in that position of playing for the world number one spot before so I don't know how I will deal with it tomorrow.

"It can be tough for the 45 minutes or so before the match, but it was not my goal to get to world number one this year. I am just pleased with how I am playing over the latter half of this season."

Tsonga or Raonic next for Murray

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 7-5 Berdych

Jo-Wilfired Tsonga or Milos Raonic will be the final boss separating Andy Murray from top spot on the ATP's computer.

Murray is 14-2 up in the head-to-head against Tsonga, who will be trickier on home turf.

Raonic's record looks a little healthier with three wins and eight defeats against Murray, but he has lost his last seven meetings with the Scot.

Murray into semi-finals

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 7-5 Berdych

There was not a lot of celebration from Andy Murray as he headed to his stool after a sporting net exchange with Tomas Berdych.

He is a man on a mission this week. And a last-four spot is not what he has come for.

Game, set and match

He was not to be denied a second time.

Andy Murray drills down back to back aces to cross the line in style.

He is undoubtedly the best player in the world right now. Now, he is only one win away from having that status confirmed on the ranking ladder.

From 40-0 up, Andy Murray is dragged back into the fray by his bootlaces.

He is huffing and puffing, can he finally blow Tomas Berdych off court?

Murray breaks

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 6-5 Berdych

Take two.

Tomas Berdych has come apart like apple crumble topping under an eager spoon.

He double-faults out of the game to hand Murray a second chance to serve out the match.

Two break points Murray

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 5-5 *Berdych

How often have we seen this?

Having fought so hard to get back in the set, Tomas Berdych blazes a routine smash long to offer up two break points and 15-40...

Berdych breaks

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 5-5 *Berdych

Andy Murray claws back to 30-40. He is disturbed on his ball toss as he prepares to try and save the third break point.

A cross-patch forehand into the net follows and Tomas Berdych is back in the room as Murray jabs his racquet towards the stands in protest at the spectator who put him off.

Three break points Berdych

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 5-4 Berdych

Well, well, well.

Tomas Berdych thumps a tracer of a forehand right out of the sickly-sweet centre of the strings and away for a clean winner for 0-30.

A return right up onto the baseline, Murray cuffs long and it is 0-40 and three break points Berdych.

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 5-4 Berdych

Tomas Berdych keeps the show on the road for at least another game.

As the arena is plunged into the dark for the changeover, a brass band strikes up somewhere in the stands.

It feels a little like the start of Live and Let Die and I think the New Orleans last rites are about to be read over Berdych.

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 5-3 *Berdych

A dead-eyed serve from Murray. A forehand hooked wide by Berdych. The Czech plants wide by a whisker after getting worked over for most of the rally. And then is beaten by another ace out of the quiver.

A hold to love for Murray and he snarls in celebration to his box.

Tomas Berdych coasts through a service hold.

But he has to do something dramatic to divert this match from his destination.

Andy Murray is two holds of serve away. Can the Czech lob the anchor overboard and detain him a little longer?

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 4-2 *Berdych

Andy Murray is delivering death by relentless percentages in this second set so far.

There were fireworks to steal the tie-break, but this has been a less spectacular collection of precise groundstrokes, pushing the margins and stretching Tomas Berdych out of shape.

The Scot holds to 15 and look untouchable at the moment.

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 3-2 Berdych

Andy Murray clambers into a return like his favourite pair of wellies, sending a backhand blurring away for a winner and 30-30.

He cannot burgle another break from the bank though. A backhand long as a big black crow - a real Halloween harbinger - does a couple of circuit around the indoor arena.

Murray 7-6 (11-9) 3-1 *Berdych

When the stakes get higher and the scoreline gets tighter, Andy Murray gets better and better.

Or maybe his game - stress-tested in multiple Grand Slam finals - holds up better to the big points than Berdych's.

Either way, he eases away with two points in quick succession.

Murray taken to deuce

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 2-1 Berdych

Andy Murray rattles though to 40-0 like a runaway mine train.

Better from Tomas Berdych as he moves up court with some nimble footwork and sweeps away a winning forehand.

Murray into the net, a whopper of a return and suddenly - out of thin air - it is deuce.

Is this a chance that Berdych has to take?

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 2-1 Berdych

Tomas Berdych stops the rot and keeps in the match.

A second break of serve in the second set would surely be curtains considering he is yet to force a single break point on the Andy Murray tee-off.

Murray breaks

*Murray 7-6 (11-9) 1-0 Berdych

Is that Murray over the horizon?

Tomas Berdych is shoving all his chips into the middle.

Big forehands that are deciding the rallies for better or worse for the Czech.

He comes charging to the net to try and snuff out another exchange early, but Murray has found a route past him via a smidge of net cord. Thirty-all.

One break point - the first of the match - for Murray. Berdych fends him off to take it to deuce.

Here comes a second though. Into a rally. Never mind a racquet, Berdych needs a jet-washer to get Murray off court. As stubborn as week-old chewing gum and finally Berdych pushes the power meter too far, crashing into the net.

Tie-break

*Murray 6-6 (6-6) Berdych

Another forehand gets off the leash and Berdych throws his head to the sky. We are back on serve at 5-6.

Still set point though, just on Murray's serve.

And the Scot does what the Czech can't and finds the angle to level up the scoreboard.

These are the sort of crucibles in which champions are forged.

*Murray 5-5 Berdych

Andy Murray gives us a couple of very GIF-able little moments in the opening two points.

First, he shoots some serious shade in the direction of some fan in the stands who has forgotten to turn the flash off on his phone. Absolute daggers.

On the next, Murray finds himself flopped over the netcord as he fails to apply the brakes quickly enough chasing down a drop-shot. Berdych sportingly goes to pick up the Scot's bat which has fallen out of its owner's reach on Czech territory.

Nothing apart from short video clips to take from that game though.

There are a smattering of the Murray Army in the stands.

They greet a zippy Andy Murray ace with a collective "whomph!". Their man does not look being derailed from a tie-break at the very least.
