Thanks for joining us today.

Don't miss tomorrow's action with Simona Halep taking on Konta in the morning from 09:00 BST.

There will no doubt be more fall-out from the events here today.

But nothing should take away from Johanna Konta's unbelievable performance when she returned to the court...

She convincingly won five games in a row to win 6-2 6-3 and level the tie at 1-1.

Fed Cup: Play suspended as Johanna Konta leaves court in tears

Oh the drama...

Just to recap, play was suspended for about 25 minutes earlier with Johanna Konta having to leave the court in tears.

Play was halted after the hosts' captain Ilie Nastase had been sent off.

Nastase caused controversy in the build-up to the tie after being heard making a derogatory comment about Serena Williams' unborn child.

Romania player Simona Halep spoke to the crowd after play was suspended to try to calm the situation down.

So Konta's incredible fight back has left it 1-1 in this World Group II play-off.

Remarkable scenes...

Given the language Nastase appears to have aimed at his opposing number and the on court player, Romania should have been defaulted

Game, set and match

Cirstea 2-6, 3-6 Konta

The fight in this woman is amazing.

She could have been forgiven for coming back from the break in play and melted but she absolutely refused.

Konta celebrate win

Konta holds

*Cirstea 3-5 Konta

Blimey - the Brit keeps finding that line brilliantly - Konta has made this look easy since returning to the court.

Bear in mind, she was 3-1 down before it all kicked off earlier...

If you have just joined us, you've missed a lot.

Konta breaks again

Cirstea 3-4 Konta*

Wow - there is momentum and then there's Johanna Konta.

She takes it to 40-0 but Cirstea, who has been fighting these break points all match, takes it to deuce.

But Konta punishes her opponent with two huge forehands to take the game.

Konta's won the last three games in a row. Can she make it four?

Konta holds

Cirstea 3-3 Konta

There is determination behind every shot now.

She produces her first ace of the match to prove it...

Cirstea is looking shaken after the suspension in play.

Konta holds.

Konta breaks

Cirstea 3-2 Konta*

Well, Konta seems to have fire in her belly after all that chaos...

A great response from the world number seven to break her opponent's serve immediately.

The rest of the British team on the side lines are on their feet.

Just a reminder, it's 3-1 to Sorana Cirstea in the second set.

The first went to Britain's Jo Konta.

The players have a quick word at the net and then we go into a quick warm up...

It appears we will be getting back under way soon...

Blimey! That was a bit mad wasn't it...

Let's see how they both get on after all that drama...

Right - both players are back out on court...

Players back out

Match suspended. Konta in tears after Cirstea breaks for 3-1. Confusion reigns - no word on a restart time, if indeed we do restart

So having eavesdropped on a conversation between an official and Romania's Simona Halep, Johanna Konta seems to have received some verbal abuse from somewhere in the crowd.

Halep tells an ITF official that she asked the crowd to respect both players and “speak nice”.

Meanwhile, Simona Halep is still signing tennis balls in the crowd...

The British team have all left the stands, perhaps to go and support their team mate?

There is a lot of confusion as to what has caused this drama but it seemed that someone, possibly from the crowd, has said something to seriously upset Johanna Konta...

Simona Halep is now having to talk to the home fans asking them to calm down - the world number five is having to remind them it's just a tennis match...

Play suspended

Anne Keothavong is having to console her player. They have now decided to call time on the match for the moment.

Probably for the best.

Cirstea 3-1 Konta

Johanna Konta is emotional on the court

The crowd are now fully pumped...

It seems to have given Cirstea a bit of a boost as she manages to break the world number seven.

Tough to see Johanna Konta getting incredibly emotional on the court.

A real test now for Konta to regain some composure after that drama...

Right - shall we get back to the match now?

Now the Romanian captain is being asked to leave the stands entirely....!

Are we going to see any more tennis?

Goodness me - Nastase is being sent off the court.

Ilie Nastase
BBC Sport
Johanna Konta talks to the umpire

A little too much maybe as British captain Anne Keothavong has a word with the umpire - which leads to Nastase being warned for unsportsmanlike conduct.

Cirstea holds

Cirstea 2-1 Konta*

Does she get it?

Two break points for Konta but Cirstea refuses to let her take the lead...

Then a double fault from the Romanian allows Konta to see a third but the Brit can't capitalise on it making the Romanian captain, Ilie Nastase jump up in delight.

The relentless pressure keeps coming from Konta and the home crowd seem to be loving the battle.

Konta holds to love

*Cirstea 1-1 Konta

Konta signals to her team-mates for more noise and responds with a hold to love.

She could do with a break of serve in the next game...

Cirstea holds

Cirstea 1-0 Konta

The Romanian starts the second set well, hoping to put the last three games behind her.

Her movement isn't as impressive as Konta's but she manages to hold her serve...

Konta takes the first set

Cirstea 2-6 Konta

Johanna Konta celebrates

A beautifully weighted drop shot gives Konta two set points and she duly wraps it up in 36 minutes.

Team-mate Laura Robson shakes her red tambourine in the crowd and there is certainly a feeling the home side are going to be happy with a 1-1 scoreline at the end of the day...

Konta breaks

Cirstea 2-5 Konta

Ooof - an incredibly placed winner in the corner from Cirstea there but Konta does well to ignore it confidence-wise and fights on.

She takes the break point and can't wait to get this first set over and done with.

Konta holds

*Cirstea 2-4 Konta

A strong return from Cirstea clips Konta's cap which seems to have flustered her a little...

She hits her first double fault but composes herself and finds her rhythm to take the advantage.

Two game cushion in the bag.

Cirstea 2-3 Konta*

The home crowd decide they aren't keen on the way things are going and increase the volume to give their player a little boost.

It works like a charm. She produces the game of her match so far and takes it to love.

Konta holds

*Cirstea 1-3 Konta

Konta's speed and control is putting Cirstea under pressure and she goes for a couple of impressive winners on the run.

But a cracking return from Cirstea takes it to 40-40, followed by a mistake from Konta which gives the Romanian the advantage.

The momentum swings back and forth between these players and we go back to deuce a couple more times...

Cirstea has three break points but Konta's stubborn play leads to her taking the advantage and forcing Cirstea to put the ball into the net.

An important hold for the Brit there.

Konta celebrates

Konta breaks

Cirstea 1-2 Konta*

It's starting to go as expected.

Konta's dominance is clear as she looks the cooler and calmer on this windy court.

The Romanian is being forced wide and deep and eventually allows the world number seven through.

She breaks to take it to 2-1.

Konta holds

*Cirstea 1-1 Konta

Whoop there it is. Konta's first service game is a breeze and she takes it to love.

She looks sharp, quick and her impressive second serve helps her relax into the match.

Cirstea holds

Cirstea 1-0 Konta*

Immediately Jo Konta looks to be thrown a little playing into the wind, going 40-15 down.

However, it takes her not too long to get used to it and fights back to 40-40...

Cirstea takes the advantage but her back hand goes wide. Back to deuce but immediately she decides she does not want to lose her opening service game. She takes the advantage once again and then forces Konta to bat wildly and miss.

First game goes to Cirstea, leaving Konta looking perplexed.

Here we go. Cirstea to serve first...
