Speedway: Hans Andersen in for Peterborough Panthers shake-up

Peterborough Panthers have re-signed their former title-winning captain Hans Andersen, with current skipper Nicki Pedersen making way.

Andersen, 30, has had two previous spells at the Showground in 2003 and 2006 when he led the Panthers to the Elite League title.

Promoter Rick Frost said Pedersen's exit was due to his GP commitments.

"Nicki can now concentrate on his last three remaining Grands Prix," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

Frost to build on 'woeful' away record

"At the moment he needs to move up to number eight to guarantee his place in the GPs next year.

"Hans is our asset, he's very popular at the Showground, it's an opportunity for us to showcase him and see how he gets on in the remaining meetings.

"No decisions have been made regarding the number one for next year."

Dane Pedersen had been the Panthers lead rider this year but had been pushed closely by Australian Troy Batchelor.

Peterborough have two dead rubbers remaining in the Elite League, but are still to face Belle Vue across two legs in the quarter-final of the Knockout Cup.
