Speedway: Peterborough Panthers boss pleas for patience

Peterborough Panthers boss Trevor Swales has told fans who "rubbished" his new line-up to have patience.

Supporters have questioned the strength of the Panthers new-look squad, but Swales says the criticism is premature.

"You can never make predictions because you do not know what the other sides are going to do with their teams," he told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"That was disappointing with the fans. They were rubbishing the team without knowing who they'd be racing against."

Peterborough named their full 2012 line-up two weeks ago, with East of England Showground favourite Kenneth Bjerre the stand-out rider.

"I think we're the only team at the moment that has got a complete squad," added Swales. "We do feel we have a team of riders capable of beating anybody on their day.

"Give us time. Give the boys track time and I'm pretty sure the fans will give the boys support. It's a young team who are hopefully all going to improve."
