Antrim have been relegated from Allianz NFL Division Two after a heavy defeat to Derry, who narrowly missed out on promotion.

Caolan O'Boyle netted for the Oak Leafers on 19 minutes and Antrim's Mark Sweeney was sent off a minute later for two yellows.

Derry led 1-7 to 0-4 at half-time and cruised to victory with Conleth Gilligan scoring seven points.

Giilligan and Antrim's Aaron Douglas were dismissed in the dying seconds.

The pair were show straight red cards after their tussle at Casement Park, which Derry boss John Brennan felt was harsh.

"I thought they were hard done by - they were wrestlng and no-one was physically hurt," he said.

"It was two yellows maximum and it was a terrible end to a reasonable game."

Derry dominated a Saffrons side depleted by injuries and suspensions, and only poor finishing from the Oak Leafers saved the hosts from a hammering.

The match lacked the urgency and intensity of a typical Ulster derby and at times Derry scored at will.

Oak Leaf forward Paddy Bradley chipped in with five points as Derry failed to gained promotion to Division One on scoring difference.
