John Laverty will make his racing comeback in the colours of new team Splitlath Redmond in the 2012 British Superbike Championship.

The Toomebridge rider's team-mate will be French man Florian Marino.

In July 2011 29-year-old Laverty suffered serious injuries in a high-speed crash at Oulton Park.

"It has been a long recovery but I am taking everything one step at a time. I need to build up again as I have not ridden since last year," said Laverty.

"There is no pressure on me and I am looking forward to working with such an experienced crew.

"I am just looking forward to being back in BSB and racing again. I need to thank everyone who has helped me to get to this point and the team for the faith they are showing in me."
